While I dislike having only 13 episodes a year, I will take that over nothing. So as long as there is a chance of further seasons, I'm thrilled. WHile I have missed certain VinCat passion issues this season, I'm thrilled with how it appears to be coming together. So a shorter season means less plot threads left wide open and under-used or ill-used potential bad guys. There are definitely some pros to having to use all of your screentime. HOWEVER, the biggest con, in my opinion, is that CHARACTER-moments get shafted due to having so little time. With 22 episodes, you have TIME to see passion and the occasion diversion/plot-free but character driven episode. I had already figured, based on the ratings, that BATB would be hopelessly bound to the summertime. But again, I'll take what I can get. Better summertime and 13 episodes compared with nothing at all. alwayscrazedbatbfan and texasscotian, my Beasties Gal Pals! And 3 makes it unanimous! Summer Is Beauty and The Beast Time! We'll take BATB anyway we can get it!

Jefferen, I think you hit on the heart of the matter. Many fans, due to their contributions of power voting and campaigns and twitter and the like, can feel that they are ambassadors to the show. The problem with that is that even ambassadors have duties and certain obligations to not harm those they reportedly represent. And ambassadors don't get to start wars and the like. Again, all about responsibility (and sometimes even plain common sense and tact). I'm deeply saddened that it has gotten ugly to the point that anyone feels unwelcome for whatever reason. But this is spilling over to actors and people feeling actually attacked, it seems, in what they do for their careers. It hurts us not just for the legal and moral implications but also when we cease getting information from sources willing to give it to us prior to feeling alienated due to possibly inappropriate comments. Technology can giveth, and technology can taketh away, depending on the responsibilities of the poster and recipient. This also affects campaigns to keep the show on the air, potentially. We really need Beasties roaring together at the appropriate times in order to a) ensure we get Season 4 in the end without it being cancelled due to perceived lack of interest and b) get a Season 5. I'm wondering if the numbers are worth it to the CW for continued Summer viewing. If they can put reality shows or other stuff in for cheaper AND get more viewers, then business will dictate what they do. I know that networks are doing press for upcoming fall seasons, so has there been anything from the CW regarding how they have felt about summer programming adn whether or not it will continue? Yes!!! Your two middle paragraphs are exactly a lot of my fears. And sometimes with how these "ambassadors" act on social media, it won't be long before we get almost nothing bc cast&crew don't feel appreciated. And in turn they won't really be as giving with info and spoilers awith future episodes and the backlash will be affecting those who enjoy the season and say minimal or what not or are just quietly enjoying the show in the background bc they won't be getting anything anymore either bc of other people, which imo isn't fair. I also think like you said, eventually it's gonna get to the point that they fandom is completely divided and we won't be able to work together to help get season 5 and beyond like we had been before. I know ppl say there is worse fandoms out there but we are a smaller fandom then them who struggle with ratings we cannot afford to lose anyone.

Our roaring and vocal Beastie fandom has been what has gotten BATB recognition in the past. And it had been a wonderful symbiotic relationship between cast, crew and fans. Which got us notice in the press, particularly as the fans had labeled Austin as "King Beastie" and the like. There was trending on Twitter, and the Digital Presence thing was a lot of what kept us on the air.
People love rooting for the underdog, and our show has repeatedly proved to be the Little Show that Could, mainly because of its devoted following, although small. We will just have to see what happens moving forward. Hopefully, even disgruntled fans who have previously loved the show will just not give up on it so quickly or easily. The last remaining episodes of Season 3 will hopefully prove to successfully tie things together and give us some long-awaited VinCat passionate moments AND bring formerly unhappy fans back into the fandom camp.
Even if there is a sizable amount of the fandom unhappy with Season 3 overall, I would hope that they would at least check out Season 4 and see if those issues have been addressed rather than just giving up and deserting the fandom. I'm hoping rifts have been mended or new fans come forward in time for when a Season 5 campaign would be needed.
As with everything else, we are in wait-and-see mode. The next couple of episodes will reveal ratings-wise whether BATB is being watched or if we have lost critical viewers. I would love a few more 0.3's for the season. Only 11 through 13 remain to be aired in the US. I will remain optimistic until the last possible moment. We are a fandom of Fighters, and that has previously been a really good thing. Hopefully, it will be again.

Our roaring and vocal Beastie fandom has been what has gotten BATB recognition in the past. True that. Unfortunately, the roaring and vocal Beastie fandom appears to have quickly turned on the object of its passion. And that has been disturbing at best, ugly at worst. I don't know. It's been my experience that when people make this big of a stink over what they don't like (to the point of being rude, obnoxious, demanding, entitled and ungrateful), they rarely come back. And honestly, do we want these kind of fans back? On the other hand, the fans who have departed for other reasons, may still be willing to rally behind and fight for the show. Is there anyway for us to know how many people we're talking about? Probably not. Speaking for myself only, I have not felt the need to drop everything and tune in to BATB this season. For example, I didn't watch Episode 10 until 3 days after it was available. It's not so much that I'm unhappy with Season 3 as I am dissatisfied with it. Some of the reasons for my dissatisfaction are hard to pin down. But my biggest gripe is not, and that's been the Vincat interaction. I don't expect to see the level of hotness we got in Season 1, but I did expect to feel the magic and chemistry between the OTP. I did expect to see some romance in between all the action. I understand what the show runners were trying to do, but I feel the execution has been woefully out of balance. Would it have killed them to give us a few scenes of Vincat just being together and throwing off some sparks? I'm thinking of the times when they were just on the rooftop talking or sitting on the fire escape. You could always feel the pull between them even before they were lovers, why can't we feel it now? In this I have to refer to Buffy and Angel. Even when they were estranged you could aways feel the pull of their love between them. SMG and DB had good chemistry, but it cannot compare to KK and JR's. I don't know if I'm explaining this in a way that you'll understand but even the suckiest Season 1/Season 2 episode was made watchable by the Vincat magic. It defies believe that anyone would neglect this priceless commodity in a show called BEAUTY AND THE BEAST.

ArwenFan that's my big question too regarding VinCat: why can't the writers come up with some intense scenes between our lovers? And to be clear, I'm not talking about love scenes, but just about the longing looks and the passionate kisses. Nowadays they look like an old married couple at best, but where's the epic romance between the beauty and the beast? Season 3 leaves me mostly frustrated: so much potential wasted imo. But am I going to give up on BATB? Absolutely not. Even if I'm not an active member on the boards, I'm here until the end!

ArwenFan,
I am actually in agreement with you about the VinCat scenes/chemistry. I had previously tried to be optimistic about the lack of VinCat scenes in the hope that 1) lack of scenes was because future eps would contain a really passionate scene, so in that manner, the scenes would not become commonplace so powerful on the rare moments they occurred and 2) the 13 episode amount meant that so little time was left for the plot/arc of the season that less VinCat scenes would be the result.
But it gets to the point that there is really no excuse for the lack of scenes when the show is BASED on the EPIC LOVE of the leads. And how could anyone think that fans would want those scenes sacrificed for simple plot maneuvers. And they ARE giving us JT and Tess scenes, so they had time for passionate couple scenes that went to OTHERS rather than VinCat. And this isn't just one certain writer but was over the course of the whole season, as most of Season 3 has now aired. I did not even feel the wedding episode, which really upset me. You at LEAST got a couple of VinCat looks, BUT WHAT I MOST REMEMBER from that episode is all the VinCat quarrelling and keeping secrets (even if everyone thought it was for a "good" reason. Which I found ridiculous, because it left Cat WIDE OPEN to Julianna's attack. She wasn't prepared for such an attack or on the lookout for it due to their machinations.) And all THAT drama and cover-up rather than ANYTHING regarding romance is rather unexcusable, in my opinion, when you take the premise of the show.
And as many quarrels as you and I had over VinCat from Season 2, I don't think either of us found them lacking in passion, even when apart. You didn't doubt the attraction or underlying desire to be together in Season 2. And I was riveted to my screen, even if I didn't like the triangles on it. HERE in Season 3, other than brief and rare moments, I didn't get the VinCat feels that have always been present for me in Season 1 and Season 2 (with the possible exception of "Ever After" for reasons I have listed previously. So why they felt the need to give us a whole Season 3 that felt like an EXTENDED version of "Ever After," I will never know.)
And I am not into assigning blame or fault. I don't plan on going and insulting writers, directors, cast and crew. It was what it was. But I DO hope for more passion and couple-related interaction and obvious bonding/love other than just sharing screentime during Season 4.
And I still hope for more over the rest of Season 3, but how can we get it? There is not enough time left to wrap up the plotlines AND give us a wedding, assuming there is one. Would be a rather sorry build-up if we DIDN'T get one, so I think I am safe in assuming that a few precious minutes in episode #13 will be devoted to Wedding.
Don't get me wrong, I am still watching BATB. I actually enjoy it as a show, particularly if I don't reconsider past seasons to compare it with. Had I just started watching in Season 3, I don't know that I would feel as passionate as I have in the past.
It is still the only show, in fact, that I am following right now. I still get excited, hoping to get what I want from my screen. And I HAVE liked the Slow Reveal. Just not LOVED it with that fierce overprotectiveness of a mama bear that I have felt over previous seasons. And there it is. The PLOT and BAD GUYS may actually be MORE consistent and improved for Season 3, BUT IT CAME AT TOO HIGH A COST of VinCat scenes. At least, in my opinion.

Please, I do not have a Twitter acount, so tell me if Austin Basis is still talking with fans. And someone could tell me if the cast is already back in filming season 4?
