That's the thing that you love in this episode about the chemistry: it is like Catherine realizes she just can't hold back the tide anymore. It will wash over her, taking her away in the storm of emotion. Her heart and body are just overwhelmed by emotional and hormonal overload. Her brain just zones out, and she follows her heart. And Vincent isn't intending to seduce her. He is just so in love with Catherine. And with her looking at him that way AND not leaving, his heart just causes him to react with one last desperate kiss. Which just sweeps them both away. But I LOVE the fact that Vincent still tries to exert control over himself, for Cat's sake. He wants her to be comfortable with her decision. So he lets HER decide where they go next. So they get swept up in the moment together. Vincent thinks there is a meeting of the minds, too, which ultimately is not there yet, but that is next episode.
Catherine making no move to leave in the first place just shows where her heart really is. But she needs to know that she is worth fighting for and that Vincent will do so. She needs him to tell her or show her, not just let her walk away. And Vincent FINALLY gets that, in the final moments of this episode. Because before this, Vincent had actively tried to push Catherine towards Gabe in order for her to have a normal life. But this is not allowing Cat to make her OWN choice about what she wants for herself. And this was also sending Cat mixed signals about whether or not Vincent truly wanted to be with her. So you need this moment. And you needed it to be THAT powerful. And it was. Explosive.
