And that is the other great thing I love about this episode. At the beginning of the episode, we are forced to see a Gabe/Catherine kiss. And at this point, their relationship is at the best it will get. Yet, the kiss really lacks passion. Cat is trying so hard to get into the relationship, yet looks panicked at the key presentation. She even tries to hug Gabe and be in the moment with him. Yet it is NOTHING to the desperate VinCat hug after the explosion. I mean, it is Cat telling him that she couldn't live without him, is proud of him, loves the man he has become. ALL of that from one hug. And you have no idea just how long it lasts. But clearly, they are hugging each other as if they will never let go. You just FEEL the emotion. And then the kisses in the boathouse. I mean, once they start, they just can't stop. Because they are just MEANT to be together like that. They work SO WELL together in this episode, once they right themselves after the car crash. And Gabe is just continually struggling from the car scene on JUST TO TRY to catch up to them. Just no comparison. So the ending scene is obvious. LOVE THIS! Agreed! Thats why I loved that hug so much. You can just feel the emotion between them. Its so tangible.

And that is another little touch that I LOVE about this episode. Gabe PRESSURES Cat all during this episode to PICK A SIDE. He won't ALLOW her to have both. Gabe must win everything AND make Vincent suffer.
So Gabe pressures Cat with a key. And pressures Cat to back him in the WAY they handle the investigation. And then pressures Cat NOT to have Vincent track Sam, even though they KNOW Sam has kidnapped someone else that he plans to make a Beast. And then Gabe pressures Cat AT THE PRECINCT where she works. And DEMANDS that she go talk to Vincent. Again, more pressure.
And how does Vincent treat Cat? Vincent makes sure to apply NO PRESSURE to Cat. After that first kiss, Vincent BACKS AWAY. He is willing TO LET CAT SET THE PACE. Nothing will happen that Cat is not ready to have happen. It is HER CHOICE. And Vincent would have let her leave without fighting it, had that been what Cat really wanted. LOVE THIS!

And Cat WILL feel guilt later about the cheating angle. I myself go back and forth about this. For me, Cat has truly been cheating on Vincent all this time with Gabe, from the standpoint of her heart. Like others, I would have liked Cat to have realized that she wanted Vincent back as much as he wanted her back BEFORE they ended up back in bed. HOWEVER, I get that Cat was truly torn, deep inside, about completely trusting Vincent with her heart again. In 216, she really is scared that Vincent could somehow lose his way again. And let's face it, based on the fact that Vincent has sort of done this before (with Alex last season, Tori this season) is enough reason for Cat to question herself and her choices. I mean, when things got difficult in both seasons, Vincent got "distracted" by someone else. So I get Cat's conflict. And she is truly just stumbling along here, trying to make the pain go away, not lose her humanity when faced with the things that Sam does and that she has to do to combat his actions, and try to maintain the relationships that she has left. So no wonder Cat stumbles. She certainly isn't the only one this season!

For me last scene is one of the best of BATB, how they first try to agree "what is right" but showing that they don't really feel what they are talking, it's funnt how Vincent quits about eating as son as he hears that they won't see each other for a while, I even think he spoils the food with too much salt :=) and then when he seems to be ready to let her go it is Cat who keeps standing in front of him waiting for more, from this point there is so much dialogue said only with their eyes but so well performed that I can clearly hear what they are thinking, concerns, doubts and finally admiting that they want to be together. Kristen and Jay were really amazing during this scene! For me the most romantic one in S2

Susy,
I love too the fact that Vincent doesn't seem to know WHAT to do with his hands in that final scene! It is like he just KNOWS that his hands will have to grab ahold of Cat if he doesn't do something else with them. And the fact that Cat is the most important thing in his universe to him. I mean, the food just can't compete.

All right, I had better get out of this office building since it is after 10 o'clock at night! I risked getting mugged outside the dark office building just to see VinCat! Definitely qualifies me for the Hopeless VinCat Romantic Club!

Cat Never cheated on Vincent. She cheated on Poor Gabe with Vincent. I feel sorry for Gabe, she was the flip flopper here. Poor Gabe! and once again, Cat's one & only storyline revolved on being the beast supporter.sigh....

Cheating is not right but I never once felt sorry for Gabe becuase of all his pressure and constant Vincent put down's and yes Vincent did wrong to but Gabe never gave Cat a chance to breath and really decide for herself she SHE wanted to cut Vincent out of her life but kept onto her to do something that would make him feel more secure about their relactionship and his insecurities, at the end of the day Cat was the one who had a past with Vincent and who at the end of it all was the one who had to decide who she wanted in her life not Gabe and that was my biggest problem with him he was so pushy with everything and her reaction to the key offering for me said it all about how she really felt about the relactionship and how to fast Gabe was going with it. There are right and wrong sides with both Cat and Vincent but Cat was the one who went in for the second kiss and did'nt make any attempt to move away even when Vincent said to her that he felt he couldn't make her happy she corrected him and told him it wasn't true he was willing a bit anyway to let her go but then they locked eyes and got close to one another and it was to late for them both

The Car Wreck scene is just so symbolic of VinCat at this point. They are upside down and turned around. It takes both of them stumbling around TOGETHER to right themselves. Aside from the ending, the car wreck scene is the best part of this episode for me. I never thought about the symbolism before, but you're spot on!
