I have just watched "Forever Beasties" Review of 215 & found it well worth watching! As usual, I found them funny & I'm in almost total agreement with what they say!
I am so happy that they have touched on the "Catherine cheating on Gabe" topic. They agree with my belief that the only person that Catherine is cheating on is herself! Also that Catherine saved Xavier by putting her hand on Vincent's shoulder, that she is a Beast Saviour not Beast Killer.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUnLHV8OlIw&list=UUsM2_SVEAD4z2bwcMzs6YeA They waste too much time talking about crap I don't care about. An hour review?! For crying out loud. Just tell me what you thought about the episode and why. To each his own! No one is forced to do anything they don't want. Personally, I enjoy them as it's like sitting down with friends who love BatB as much as I do. Sometimes we agree, sometimes not, sometimes they come up with things I hadn't thought of. Sort of like this Forum, which I also don't consider a waste of my time.

Esp the bold part. i mentioned before i envy people who has someone to watch Batb with. Being the only fairer species in the house, I'm all alone with this obsession of mine. Reading comments from others in this forum is the next best thing

That indeed goes without saying. I like both women's point of view, I just wish they would say it quicker. I don't want to spend an hour listening to an interview, especially when they could have gotten their points across in 30 minutes or less. I can skip over all kinds of stuff I don't want to read in a forum, sadly I can't FF through their interviews.

I can skip over all kinds of stuff I don't want to read in a forum, sadly I can't FF through their interviews. I fully understand what you are saying. And again I'll compare their Review to this Forum. Some people write a few lines explaining their opinion & how they came to that conclusion. Some write almost a page or repeat themselves several times. We have the option of reading the whole thing, skimming it or skipping it all together. That is also the beauty of computers. I can rewind, fast forward or turn it off, maybe to come back to at a later date.
When I talk, I have a tendency to ramble on & quite often that's when I get my best ideas. So, I can relate to "Forever Beasties" & truly wish we didn't live on different continents! But it is nice to realize that on the other side of the world is someone who feels the same as I do about BatB, & loves the same scenes, for the same reasons as I do. When Karin said she can't call someone at 4 am, I yelled at the screen, "Call me, I'm here!!" That is also why I come to this Forum. It eliminates the distances & gives me friends that I can relate to & discuss my thoughts & feelings, without being judged, criticised or told to change. There is no right or wrong. Only different.

Just a heads up Bill the beast....you will need to crank up the AC to penguin and polar bear levels if you read any of their "saucy" stories.

You know what I miss from Season-One? Cat was actually working on cases as an NYPD detective and Vincent was doing all he could to help her, behind the scenes. I also deeply miss the Catherine who was so introspective, mulling over the case (often in voice-over) and at the same time coming to some realization about her own feelings. For example, this is from her Dad's wedding reception, she has just told Vincent that Evan's research shows his DNA is mutating and so Vincent bolted. Cat gets up to give the wedding toast (her acting in this scene is just stunning): "The funny thing is Brooke and my Dad shouldn't even be together. No, it is true. For starters they are complete opposites - and not to mention she is a Mets fan, so ... I don't know how we're going to deal with that. And then there's the age difference and for a lot of people that would have held them back, especially after everything we've been through." "Not that being with Brooke is a risk; its not. She's ... she is amazing. But its just that being in any relationship ... its a risk. Its accepting that there are no guarantees. I mean, who knows what the future brings - and going for it, anyway. Even if she is a Vegan and he eats cheeseburgers." "So, to my Dad and Brooke ... for jumping in ... you guys are an inspiration. Especially to me." After this Catherine bolts for the car to find Vincent and, possibly, tell all that to him. But many other events ensue ... I wish Heather would show up again and quote this back to her big sister. That's what I wish. I am actually just re-watching season 1 today and I miss the romantic introspection of season 1 too! I was never a big fan of Heather but I think it was important to have girl time between her and Cat and also between Cat and Tess. There has been a serious lack of those conversations this season - or at least meaningful introspective conversations - and I think that has changed the tone of the series considerably from season 1. The big bad was better too. I think I even prefer the procedural format to the season 2 format. Everything just felt slower in a lingering, romantic way. I want that back! Its funny because when I marathoned S1 last weekend, I thought the same thing. Jennifer & Sherri said that as s1 progressed they moved away from the procedural and moved to focusing more on the characters. And part of me thinks that is where the show lost a lot of speed. I loved the introspective nature of the season. I felt that I understood the characters. This season I do not feel like that. Most of the time, I find myself questioning if I even know the characters at all anymore. SO its interesting that when they began to focus more on the characters, they almost moved further away from them, esp in s2. Sure the procedural elements of the show were not as juicy as some of the scenes in end of S1, but they still managed to infuse them with amazing vincat moments. There are ways to tell a procedural type show and still infuse it with romance. There are many shows that have been able to give shippers what they want and still tell an interesting story. It seemed like the BATB writers were afraid to commit to either without losing the other. It is not always curtain calls for the show when you get the lead couple together, there are ways to work it all out. Vincat solving cases at the beginning of s1 was good with blending the romantic tension with the procedural. It all seemed to go wrong with the Alex arc. The show began to feed internally for plots and characters, which inhibits the shows growth. Which is now why we are where we are. I think what the show needs to find is a good blend between character and procedural. If you look at a show like Castle, they are able to come up with new and exciting plots every week, they also have key character relationships that are lovely to watch, and they have some storyline arcs that extend through seasons & even the whole series. Granted they dont have mythology, but they do have some conspiracy that is also imbedded in their story. BATB could look to them to see how they get that balance. Castle is just one example, Im sure all of us could find an example of a good blend between character based shows & procedurals. There are ways maximize both. For all of their character development attempts this season, it seems like all the characters continue to do is make mistakes & poor decisions, that they then need to fix. Which I guess is growth to some degree, but I feel like the writers should have tried to balance out the characters - not all of life is making poor decisions. Life can have more than just good, bad and easy/fun moments. This season has been all the bad parts of life. I cant remember one good thing that happened to Catherine or one fun moment she got to enjoy. Its been all bad... poor girl needs a break. Even her vacation to Mexico was usurped by Gabe and his needs. As much as Heather could annoy me at times, I did like her character because she was able to mellow out and round out Catherine. Heather was a good reflection mirror for Catherine at times. Please have her come back soon and give Catherine some new perspective and fresh air to breath. Its almost like Catherine is hypoxic. The toxicity of the S2 & Gabe's over involvement (possessiveness??) has sucked everything out of her life & that is why she is not really herself. I think the night with Vincent will provide some needed adrenaline, but she will need more to help fully resuscitate her. We need some Heather, maybe a little karaoke. Catherine needs something to get her back to the living. She needs to be weaned off the ventilator known as Gabe and become her independent kick a** self. Sidebar - If they're trying to extend the series, they need to find ways to make new plots. This season's plots have tended to be repetitive and predictable. If there is some great mystery or big bad they are trying to sell they are doing a poor job of it. Perhaps they need to tell the audience more of the backstory or hint more to the masterplan, instead of just harping on stereotypical things like gems & revenge themed acts. We all know there is more going on than just Sam's 6yr revengenda (stealing a vocab word from another one of my fav shows). And really if the gem is so important, why havent we heard more about it and the other mythology for that matter? We've spent how many episodes chasing Sam... he better spill the beans before he goes splat, otherwise they could have trimmed those episodes right down and let us focus on the bigger picture (which of course is still a mystery to us).

Something really funny that I caught. At the :42 mark when Vincent is putting salt on his food...........he actually has the salt grinder pointing the wrong way. He has the bottom of the salt shaker pointing toward the food......meaning no salt is coming out. LOL.......I wonder if Vincent was uber nervous with Cat there or it was just a fluke in the scene? He did just heat the food up and took 2 bites and threw it in the trash......... Just funny! Okay, I'm glad I'm not the only one that caught that! I thought I was crazy for a second lol. He was a wreck! Who throws away good after too bites?? Must has been so nervous. It's probably because it wasn't a sandwich. He never would have thrown away a good sandwich

Just a little break from tongues and such (while I turn on the A/C). I agree. Very concise and precise. Vincent is seems just about to think his way out. You can't live with the inner beast by denying the inner beast. But our poor Catherine. She followed her heart and Vincent broke it. Now she seems to have buried it deeper than before S1. It is such a terrible dichotomy. If you think you should just follow your feelings, what if they are leading you to do something monstrous? And if you just follow your thinking, well, it can lead you to sleep with a guy you have no feeling for at all. Vincent has had a few episodes to "regain his humanity", and to listen to JT. But Catherine gets no help from Tess. Cat lost her Mother, her Father, her Sister (effectively), her bio-Dad and Vincent. We all know she's badly broken; she agrees meekly with whatever Gabe says. In S1 she learned that "protecting people" was her crutch. But lately I wondered why she doesn't get fired from the NYPD. All this beast-hunting on the sly is obviously just symbolically wiping Vincent from her life. If she succeeds, it will destroy her. In the last episode when she had to shoot Jacob, I was hoping the department would again force her to go see David, the psychiatrist (S1.11 "On Thin Ice"). Someone sure needs to grab her by the lapels and deliver JT's "Its all about finding balance" speech. And soon. At the beginning of the season the question was is there any plausible way Vincent can be redeemed? Now we are at the point of wondering what will save Catherine? Interesting post. The answer of both questions is in the pilot of the show... Vincent has completely lost it and Catherine was the one who brought him back because she's the key to his humanity, just as Vincent will be the one who will bring her back because he is her soulmate. It was always and still remains about saving eachother. Very Deep!!! Never really verbalized that in my head. But it so makes sense now... Whoa, my head is spinning now. The possibilities are endless, but the endgame remains the same

Janeen is crazy about Vincent (like the rest of us), sometimes the things she says are borderline X rated but I enjoy it and laugh along with them. They have my kind of humor.

I was wondering what will save Catherine from the destructive path she is on and it occurred to me maybe there is literally chemistry between them. When she was in close proximity to Vincent in the wrecked car, she began to change. Then when she hugged him, it was more than just congratulations. (Gabe was right to be pissed) Then in the final scene she kept moving closer to him and her passion returned.
So maybe that is a clue to how Vincent can break through her defenses. Get right in her face. Literally, "together we are stronger".
This may tie in with Karin and Janeen's view that it was Catherine touching Vincent's shoulder that actually saved Xavier.

Yeah, I think that's a good observation. They've been dropping subtle hints in this direction for a while now, but it remains unclear whether this "chemistry" is entirely a good thing. Maybe it's a double-edged sword of some type that will manifest in an unexpected way. However, maybe I'm giving the writers/producers way too much credit and they don't have a clue? This 'mystery', if there is one, is really the only compelling aspect left in this series. It's obvious they don't have anything left in their bag of tricks to increase the ratings, so they might as well just go for it. At this point, I'd come up with some huge, unexpected plot twist to finish off the season. The kind of thing that leaves Beasties with mouths agape wondering WTF! THAT might be the ratings "hook" that is needed to get The CW to green light another season. On the other hand, maybe ideas like this have already been floated to the network and they've been rejected?

Well, to live up to their "Who Am I" season long theme, Vincent has a better idea but I don't think Catherine has a clue. The writers have left a lot of work for her to accomplish in the remaining episodes. So, yeah, I could see some mouth dropping twist, maybe where Catherine goes completely off the rails in some unpleasant way, to provide the hook to the rest of the season. [Not speculating, just philosophizing]
Catherine needs to plausibly rediscover her passion, her "basic instincts". I hear people when they say Vincent is the key, I'm just not sure how he unlocks the lock, so to speak.
