I totally agree with all your points Savana. And I also agree that this can be filled with BATB love and also critical at the same time. Here's what I miss: The secret. No one knew Vincent was alive and it was this huge secret that tied Cat, JT and Vincent together. Because V was trapped in that secret, they had to have so many talky scenes at the warehouse, and it was in those scenes that we got the magic Savana is talking about. Now everyone knows about V and he's just buzzing all over town with zero concern about running into anyone from his past or whatever. It takes away the bond, the high degree of anxiety, and the ability to have them all in one room having like conversations and stuff. I feel like the new pacing is very frenetic, like a caffeine-addled mosquito is setting the tone. A scene here. Now a scene there! This character! That character! And there's no real time spent with anyone. Does that make sense? Jackpot!! Never crossed my mind about this but when I think of it, this has been present in all the Beauty and the Beast's - season 1, the 80's series, the cartoon... sigh....

The almost cursory kisses at the beginning and/or end of every episode feel like "check off the box" moments where the writers say, "Okay, everyone wants romance so let's get that out of the way and move on to the action shots..." For me, BATB's action is the subplot and the romance is the core. I get the sense that the writers feel the opposite... So my ideas would be similar to most everyone else's: - BRING BACK THE CHEMISTRY: Don't think tossing in a kiss at the beginning or end of the ep is enough. These two actors sizzle on screen together. Take advantage--it's the best asset this show has, the reason a lot of people watch, and it's currently being totally wasted. I refuse to believe that there isn't a way to create tension and action without having to sacrifice the core draw of the show.
- MORE JT / REFOCUS TESS: I think the reason a lot of us are missing JT so much isn't only because he's comedic relief (king of the one liners for sure) but also because he brings warmth to Vincent. There's no real warmth between any of the characters right now and it makes the whole show feel flat/one dimensional. Similar note with Tess--I really liked her in S1 because she had spunk and was the dose of reality Catherine needed. Now she's just annoying and there's no reason for that. Tess is awesome, so give her something to do aside from obsessing over Gabe's feelings for Cat.
- LESS GABE: I thought Gabe was fine last year in limited doses. This year he bugs, not just because he's on screen too often but because his scenes are always the same. It's fine to drop hints that he may have a hidden agenda, but enough already--move forward, please. Hopefully once we get past this part of the arc with the "new monster every week", Gabe and the others can move into a different mode because it's starting to feel like I'm watching a variation of the same episode every week:
- Cat Daddy calls V with intel--doesn't have all the details
- V finds and kills a beast
- V propositions C, short kiss, C makes excuse to push V away
- Gabe reminds us that his #1 objective is to save V for C
- Tess reminds us that she thinks Gabe is in love with C
- JT wallows in obscurity
- Lather, rinse, repeat
Having said all that, I'm still really optimistic about this show because I refuse not to be!
Elizabeth, it seems as you can look inside my head, only that you are able to express the same things I'm thinking so much better! I know it may sound like I’m very negative about the show, but I’m not, I love this show, I feel like they had some good ideas this season, but parts are/were badly executed. They could have done so much more with the beast of the week storylines, instead of making them so formulaic every week. Why not, for a change, make a beast an innocent victim like Vincent, and have V and Cat rescue and hide him from Daddy Reynolds, why needed they always to be "bad" guys not deserving redemption and being killed of every week? And don’t even get me started on wasting the JT character and the repetitive Gabe/Tess scenes! I really hope the show is done with beast missions now and starts refocussing on characters!

Had to register just to agree with all this. I AGREE, especially about the overuse /pointlessness of Gabe!

I miss the parts where Vin saves Kat. That used to make me want to watch it over and over again. I hope we will get to see that again.

A video by Nelly in the Vincent Keller thread (another great video Nelly!) reminded me that, for me, the best thing about season 2 is Jay's new beast makeup. It is SO much scarier, plus I'm happy he's not suffering as much in the makeup room.

That's a great improvement from season 2! Still, season 1 beast was... cute... all over the place... he was more like Notre Dame humpback! No, but, seriously, the beasts, the fights, the special effects, and the choreography of fights are MUCH BETTER this year!

I think that it would be good if the writer's did see some of our concerns and took them into account they keep saying and also Sherri and Jennifer to that they knew what worked in season 1 and what did'nt well Vincat worked and all that came with it even the struggles they had something was just their so bring that back into season 2. As long as it was done in a respecuftul way to the writers and done as a personsal attack then a letter sounds great. I did like Gabe in season 1 not for wanting to kill Vincent but just found his cahrector more interesting but now as much as I think Sendhill does a great job Gabe is taking up to much time on the screen and it feels like he is the main charector of the show for me anyway when the main two are Cat and Vincent but the magic is slightly missing that was there in season 1, I still love watching Jay and Krisitin becuase whatever their scenes they do have this chemistry that portrays the impact of their actions very well but like it's been said the looks, the hugs, the kissing even needs to be there more and not just in small doses, yes I get that they are both finding themselves seperately before coming back together fully but i'm just hoping that once Vince has his memory's full back that epic falling in love fully again starts and that Tori is out of the picture and Gabe is out of the picture to some degree too and what he really is up to get's sorted before it comes back after the xmas break. I want episodes like ' Bridesmaid Up' not every week obvioulsy but at least the essence and the love that was shown in the episode that is still one of my all time favourites from season 1 it wasn't a over the top episode but just the simplicity of it and the dance they shared just showed what batb core is love, trust and I miss that in season 2. Also don't like the way they are portraying Tess at the moment she has become a right nag to Gabe over Cat, don't like after just one episode where they are going with Tori and Vince i've had a bad feeling from day one of a she beast being introduced that it will cause major problems for Vincat and haven't they had enough already without bringing more on that could just alinate fan's even more from the show becuase for me I can clearly see that Tori will make a move on Vince and naturally Cat is going to question Vince's feelings about wanting to be with her but I want to see Vince fighting whatever Tori makes him feel which I know is wherre the episode ' Man or Beast' comes in but i'm just worried that just how far they will have Tori/Vincent interact physically age difference or not she has some power that affects beasts and so I want to see how Vince will fight that and what makes him realize I hope that Cat is the better choice for him beast or not and that after that is where the writer's reckon we are going to get the epic love coming back. I would love to see Vince and Cat have that weekend away from seson 1 they never got and got mentioned again in this season. Season 1 had it's faults i'm not saying it was perfect but so far I would pick season 1 over season 2 and I get tht they wanted to go in a different direction which for me they have done that but maybe just a bit to quick and by bringing in to many new people and leaving the old one's behind such as JT I want to see his and Vincent's story mor than Tori, I loved the JT Vincent and Cat dynamic in season 1 and I would love to see that come back and for Vince to move back into the hotel becuase while he's at the houseboat which i'll be honest I don't like it still feels very cold and clinical to me he is still disconnected from his best friend of 10yrs and that doesn't feel right to me.

It's obvious that there's a coldness mood around season 2. From characters to sets (Cat's appartment, Vincent's boathouse, the lighting...) everything has blues, whites, shady greys and blacks... that, together with the emotional distance of all characters, and the absence of JT and VinCat loving and longing scenes... everything looks soooo cold! Last season were yellows, oranges, light browns, the lighting was wonderful, it fit with the loving scenes (not necessarily sex ones...) I want to believe that the purpose of writers and directors is to make the audience feel as lonely and lost as the characters are... so when they finally rediscover/recognise each other and decide they need to be together, the explosion of emotions will be EPIC! Really hoping so...

so yesterday evening i wanted to remember season 1 moments between vincat so i watched an episode which is not a fan favourite, on thin ice.. this is an episode where they are at odds and not in a good place - i watched that for two reasons, firstly there is a workout session (kind of), secondly they are somewhat at odds which they are now as well. could people view the beginning and end of the episode where vincent and catherine are together and let me know what u think when u compare it to monday's episode in terms of the interactino between the two? not sure what direction KK and Jay have been given by the script and each director for their interaction (if any) but look at the way vincent looks at her in on thin ice and the way she looks at him, the way they "speak" without speaking, there are so many REAL moments also looking at many of the old episodes the focus is mostly on character portrayal which is far from the case now, again it feels more REAL and relatable i feel the humanity of the show is somewhat lacking, not just that of vincent 2.0. it doesnt have as much heart - sorry my writing skills are poor lol but does that make sense and notice, how much is actually happening on on thin ice - not much compared to now right. did we get bored watching it - no! ok we got a bit heartbroken but the magic was still there!
