Did the writers ever said that the show was supposed to be more focus on Vincent than Catherine? Cause it really seems that way.
I was glad that Cat was the central of the focus on the pilot but as the show goes on, the writers are giving more and more focus on the beast than the beauty herself.
Most episodes so far have been focused on Vincent and his problems.Cat may have more screentime but all her screentime are focus on Vincent and shallow case of the week story with only a little room for her own independent arc. Not only Cat,but JT's and Evan's story are both focus on Vincent. Now the police department case will also give more focus on Cat. All spoilers that we got are mostly about Vincent, All interviews from the producers are about him. All articles on the show(include the recent one from TVguide) are about him. All episodes promo clips focus on him.How many Cat promo clip that we got exactly? Most of batb fans twitter account tweet about him more than Cat. Bottomline, the focus of the show is more on The beast Not the beauty.
I know i`m one of the few males on this foyum, but i actually watch the show for Cat.I though this was supposed to be KK;s show but now it more of a" the beast show".
Based on future spoiler, i don`t think the writers will ever gonna change that.Cat will always be the secondary/supporter character to him. Hope i`m wrong and they`ll finaly at least find some balance on focus between the two and give Cat her much deserved independent story and follow through on that.

Dan, I was just talking about this same thing the other day! My guy said he hates the term "Beasties." He said that it pretty much makes it sound like everyone is watching the show just because of Vincent. He's like, "Why can't there be Beauties?"

it is true i think that they keep forgetting that is beauty and the beast and not beast and his beauty!

I wholeheartedly agree with you Dan. I am more of a KK fan and I watch this show because of her. I don't want the show to be more about Vincent and less about Catherine. I watch it for the Beauty and her relationship with the Beast. I want the romance and hate, hate the love triangles.

i think it should be 50/50 since the focus should be the love story and its of both of them!

yeah i hope Cat won`t be less of a focus during Alex's arc. Hope they won`t be focusing more on Vincent (again) and his ex entirely during the next 4 eps while leaving Cat a supporting character. After she`s gone on ep 14, i really wish the spotlight will be on Cat again.I mean does she have her own problem apart friom Vincent? she should have one. I demand more Cat heavy episodes on the back 9, don`t want her to just be Vincent`s helper.

You raise some good points. I think they would say that there's a whole side of Cat's life and the eps that Vincent isn't part of: her job and the cases. There, she interacts with Tess, Joe, Evan...and Tess is her BFF and they bounce personal stuff off each other. Plus the case usually ties to her in an emotional way. We get to see her strut her stuff as a cop, interviewing and sometimes kicking butt. Plus they've had the recent arc with her dad that didn't involve Vincent until the wedding.
It sounds like Cat is getting some of that screen time, but it's a lot in the procedural side and joking around with Tess side, and it sounds like people just aren't caring for the procedural stuff as much.
I'm only saying what I think TPTB would reply if asked: that Cat's whole precinct life and friendship with Tess is non-Vincent territory and solely about herself. Or has been mostly thus far.

i think they will have more cat moments because one of the writer's tweet kinda hinted that there where now many "cat" problems also i think from what i have gathered form austin's tweets kristen has been working a lot in these pst few weeks, more than what he mentions of jay so...

In a marketing stand point, it's expected. Jay Ryan is HAWT, the demo CW wants for the series and of course the writers, are the demos that think Jay Ryan is HAWT.

true but maybe we can bring the ratings up if we get kristen some more screen type and more men can come in and watch it?

my original intention to watch the show was because of KK, but as the story goes, most of my attention were dragged to Vincent. Thank you for making me realize that my typical female brain has betrayed me.

I think it may seem more about Vincent sometimes because without him there would be not much interesting. Bridesmaid up was pretty equal. It was her fathers wedding and she was a bridesmaild. it was focused on her wanting to have vincent as her date. then it was about her investicating Sabrina and husband. She was in the dance. It was about her being in the accident and being shot. So i think that show was more about Catherine.

I`m glad that people liked Bridesmaid up because it was a Cat centic episode(though it still had a lot of Vincent). That was a nice break from plenty of Vincent focus episodes before that. 2 episodes mainly about him coming out of hiding, 2 ep focused on him vc muirfield, then 2 eps focused on him blacking out and then an ep mostly about his flashback....anyway most of episodes before bridesmaid up were written w Vincent as the central character/focus,and Cat as "the help" to him. One ep break from the beast and focused on Cat,then next week we`ll be back focus on Vincent and his story w the ex until episodes 13 (That`s 4 episodes too much). Not fair.
Imagine how fun would it be to have more eps dealing w Cat and her interesting personality that doesn`t all revolve all on a guy she interested in? I asked the writers last night during live tweet whether or not we`ll be getting more Cat on the back 9 episodes and they didnt give satisfying answer only said " We`ll see Cat face big challenges" that i`m sure will be all about vincent and not dealing on her own arc. Based on thier tweets/answers,The writers also seem like they`re more interested in writing about the beast than the beauty.Or they probably refer to Vincent as the beauty and Cat as the beast...
What if the show ended on ep 13(last ep for Alex)? then we, Cat fans would be screwed cause most of those first 13 eps were about Vincent and lack of her. By the season end I still think we`ll know more about Vincent than we know about Cat,the beauty who`s in the show title, suppose to come first before him..
