Thanks Katie for making this thread. I have repeatedly stated that I enjoy reading all opinions, good/bad, happy/sad, pretty/ugly............I have felt that some opinions that are in the minority or that are not as "positive" as some would like, are sometimes made to feel like there is no place for their views. At some points this season, I personally felt "teamed up on" because I was posting more "negatively" than other's liked to read on the forum. I was called "judgmental". I will admit that I have been greatly disappointed in the majority of this season. I have not liked , what I feel has been the character assassination attempts on Cat and Vincent. I HATED the Tori 7 episode arc. I just can't rewatch those episodes. Maybe if I get bored during the hiatus I will do a marathon and maybe I will gather a better appreciation for the whole "Who Am I" theme. But, I feel like they could of had moments of great passion, reveals, and reunions. I think we got more heartbreak, devastation and disappointment. The Mythology has been weak.......but I am hoping and expecting that the next 2 episodes will finish strong and it will make more sense. All the actors have given great performances despite the weak writing at times. I even love Gabe at times. With that said........I am still here as a fan, who wants nothing more than this show to succeed. I want GOOD, STRONG character development and complete well-developed story lines. Don't waste time on characters that offer little to the story and push love triangles that are weak and meaningless. It is a bore to me. I will point out those things that I think the show can work on, IMO, to make it more compelling. I think I can be constructive. But many thought that I was just a "negative Nancy". I understand that many feared that any negativity would harm the perception of the show but I think the more the "debate" about issues in the show, the more conversations and passions that come out. And The BATB fandom is passionate!! I do understand some of the desire to see more of Catherine's story. Sometimes Cat was use solely for exposition, you didn't get a sense of her deepest fears or feelings. You never saw her grieve for the only father she ever knew. It just was brushed aside. We still don't know who killed Thomas or why. How did Vanessa become associated with Miurfield? So many things about Catherine's life are left unknown or very vague. I love Vincent too, but there has been a lot of focus on him this season. Let's be honest, Vincent and ALL his ASSETS have been on display this season. I think the ladies have gotten their monies worth in the Vincent fest. But, Catherine is rarely shown in a sexy manner. I mean she is gorgeous, except for a few gowns this season, she is hardly ever shown in a "sexy" outfit...........she is always in flannel for bedtime EXCEPT when she was in bed with Gabe?? It is just odd to me that in EVER AFTER, Vincent was in his robe twice and Cat was fully dressed in the a.m. in each scene. WTH?? Come on, I can see her missing the action of the Police Force but they can't show a FULLY RELAXED Catherine with her Vincent spending the morning lingering in their 'barely there' night wear? It makes no sense..........I find it odd that Kristin isn't shown, at appropriate times........in a more sensual way, especially with her man. Alex and Tori, BOTH, were in their robes with Vincent!! I find it frustrating. Why can't Catherine be shown more feminine and soft............except for a few times in gowns, she is always in leather and pants and scarves and flannel and big sweaters. Same with Tess. I am not talking about gratuitous sexy shots but just accentuate what a beautiful woman she is (and Tess). I am sure the guys in the fandom would appreciate it as well. I am not sexist, but I think there needs to be a balance as one of the fellas said earlier. Just my opinion............ no, i agree with all in bold. obviously catherine is a specific type of personality and she is not all flashy and the dressing up type, i totally get that, and not a problem at all generally. but - having said that - it would be great to see her dressed up a bit more or on her day to day life her outfits could be sometimes a bit more dissimilar. she does tend to wear the exact same type of clothes all the time. then again, this season has been pretty rough for her and with all the issues maybe it would look a bit unrealistic. lol, i dunno. so maybe, fine i understand this sesaon, but next season i also really would like her more relaxed, a lighter mood (sometimes, not all the time of course) and that could be reflected in her dress sense too. cause it is true, second season cat has (understandably) been on edge 24/7

Part of the reason that KK wears flannel rather than barely there stuff might be a point that she is just being herself and not changing for anyone. And she IS cute in those jammies, and if you remember, her Mother always gave her a pair of flannel pjs for her birthday and watched old movies with her. And when Vincent learned of that story, he also gave her a pair of flannel pjs. Thus, THIS is her "home" and her comfort zone. Flannel pjs is like her way of feeling happy and comfortable with the one she loves most--she puts on her flannel pj bottoms (the ones, I think, that Vincent gave her back in the birthday eppy) with the gray shirt when she goes to open the door in 216.
Practically, BATB is also filmed in Canada, mostly in the winter-ish months. This past season, it was freaking below zero degrees when the actors had to be out filming, particularly night scenes. Some of the behind the scenes photos would show them having to pile about 3 jackets on top of KK between scenes because it WAS so cold. In the opening scenes of the Pilot episode, it was like minus degrees below in the scene KK had to film outside in the beginning and she ended up having FLU for most of the filming of the Pilot. As a result, there may be an actual smart reason to why we seemed to mostly see KK in jackets on our screens this season.
However, I do think that part of the time that VinCat were apart, it seemed like KK's hair, make-up, lighting, and clothes were all plain and wrong, as if she wasn't as full-out Beauty as when she was happy and fulfilled with Vincent. Subtle way to show that everything in her life was NOT right, even when she thought she was "moving on." What seems to support my hypothesis, at least in my opinion, is that after she has slept with Vincent in 215, she wears blue that accentuates her eyes and has beautiful blush on her cheeks, that "afterglow" look, and a spring to her step. And her hair has been PERFECT since she got back with Vincent. Again, just another subtle way of showing that when her life is in order and she is happy, she LOOKS the part of Beauty.
I also think that the writers, particularly Jennifer and Sherri, have liked to have KK dress up for a particular reason and deliberately WATCH Vincent's reaction when she comes into his view. We saw this in the Pilot when KK comes dressed for her father's engagement party. Vincent had TOLD Catherine not to come back to his place, and he continues to yell at her before this scene and others directly after when she shows up at his place for a while BUT NOT when she comes all dressed up. His whole face just lights up looking at the Beauty that he loves. You see this again in the Masquerade Ball episode (oh how I love you "Any Means Possible"!) when Cat comes down the stares. Vincent loves Catherine, but you can see him just fall in love with her all over again each time she is really all Beauty. If Cat was always dressed up, it would not really make sense because you really CAN'T kick butt all that well in heels and a tight dress.
Just my two cents worth for the color and clothing and lighting (and hair) choices for Cat this season.

I just love the look that Vincent gives his Beauty when she is dressed in her finery....almost like he can't breathe.

The Mythology has been weak.......but I am hoping and expecting that the next 2 episodes will finish strong and it will make more sense. All the actors have given great performances despite the weak writing at times. I even love Gabe at times. It is indeed nice to have an everything thread. Why didn't we do this before? I totally agree with everything you said, Suzie, and like many who did not like, enjoy, or appreciate most of S2, I have felt similarly teamed up on or ostracized, as though there is only one rose colored glass through which to view this show. And like many here, I started out on the S2 "Roller Coaster" determined to enjoy all the lumps and bumps, but I didn't know which ride I was actually getting on to begin with. It's like when you thought you were getting on magic mountain at disneyland, and wound up on pirates of the carribean instead... There was a point, during which time, I knew how bad it was going to get, and others convinced me TPTB would never go there. Well guess what, they did. And I stuck through it, despite the fact that I HATED every minute of it. Just because every scintillating second wasn't shown on camera, well the damage has still been done, and the fandom divided by what I can only describe as deliberately destructive character development, plot devices and story lines. The fact that this has been an enormously disappointing experience for others like me, well it is what it is. I think the point, in the end, is that we are still here. I'll be the first to admit I don't like people who troll or who exclusively post negative or argumentative viewpoints repeatedly, and one of my favorite motto's is "make love not war, hit the beds not the floor." Having said that, I do feel that this board has not always been the most welcoming place for those of us whose opinions or viewpoints may not, in that moment, be the most popular. We started out as a big happy nuclear family of a fandom, and I think we have become more of a dysfunctional broken family with perhaps one too many divorces in the twilight hours of S2. In my mind, there is no doubt that with a brutal, perhaps surgical degree of precision, TPTB, Brad Kern, the CW network, whoever you want to blame, cut out the heart of the show, and fully removed it from the body of work that had been created, then replaced it, and in essence stitched back together a show whose heart had ultimately been excised. It was like transplant surgery, and the recovery process, at the very least, is going to be a long rough road. Some might say that we will never be the same again. I would say that the answers lie within our ability to listen to each other, agree sometimes to disagree, and ultimately to be welcoming to everyone no matter how or why they came to love the show, or where they may go in the darkness to survive the tortures that the fans of this show have had to endure at times.

BTW, if I wanted to see Jay in other things, what should I see first? For KK, I'd obviously say Smallville, but if that's not your thing, I'd suggest her adorable arc on Chuck or her film Partition. Just FYI. dont forget Snow White. yeah.... i'm such a fairy tale fan

i watched jay in the Eve one he did (forgot the full name lol), that was a really cute show i know seapatrol is online but never was excited by the premise of the show so did not watch it. is it a good show? besides jay being good i mean go girls i really really want to watch and i think i will really enjoy the show but it is not avaialble online and i dont think the dvds (if i buy them) are compatible with the u.k. ... but that one i really want to watch i did not watch offspring but angie redding made a one hour video with all jay scenes and i really loved him in it. i thought he was really good and really did justice to the character JR was in Sea Patrol for 3 seasons. I quickly got attached to the other characters as they were all very well developed & likable. When JR left, I still watched for another 2 seasons. After those 5 seasons, there was a change in cast & storyline, so I lost interest. I really enjoyed Sea Patrol & do re-watch.
I was able to get several episodes of Go Girls & got quite addicted to watching the clips on YouTube! Even in the clips you can see the evolution of Kevin. Season 1, I watched mostly because it was a very funny show with great writing, acting & character development. To say that I fell in love with Kevin is an understatement!! He will always be "my one true love"! And we will always have YouTube!! Hopefully one day they'll release the DVD set in Canada or show it on TV.
