I figured as much. At first I thought there was no way he'd use "heck" at a formal press conference But then with their record of how they've treated us so far it didn't seem so farfetched either. But you're right I would have surprised me if M.P. would have used such words. But he might have been secretly thinking it. At summer TCA’s he asked a journalist (it was Jay Bobbins @tmsjay) who mainly had questions about BATB, if he should send him the DVD box. It was meant to be funny, but to me it seemed he got annoyed he had to talk so much about BATB instead of them being all enthusiastic about the new falls shows. well he defo said yesterday the bar was low before on mondays and that jane is quality essentially saying that batb is crap. way to go mark way to go i would not be annoyed if i didnt know that jane really is not quality

I wonder if the majority of the jury watched more than one or two episodes. IMHO the acting of GR is nothing compared to KK.

He was probably expecting the FIRST question like : congrats on the JTV GLOBE, or about their hit & fan fave Flash, their long running hit shows TVD & SN but no it's about BATB......so, the "heck" is actually not bad at all IMO.

Since this is the Everything Thread, I can go ahead and rant. Seriously, Jane the Virgin isn't even original--they based it on the show of the same name that is already airing in other countries. So this is only a freaking COPY of itself. NOT original at all. Sigh. Okay, rant over.
And yes, BATB is supposed to be the re-incarnation of the original CBS "Beauty and the Beast" series, but anyone that has watched the original series knows that only the names "Catherine" and "Vincent" survive from the original series. Everything else is different, including the Origin Story of the Beast. In this version of BATB, Vincent was injected with cross-species DNA (although, now that I think about it, they have sort-of moved away from that in Season 2. I mean, now the serum supposedly just activates a long-dormant gene sequence from man-beast hybrids that would have existed in previous prehistoric times). I DO recognize that present-day BATB may have gotten some history or ideas from the James Cameron series "Dark Angel." However, while that story also had genetically-created super soldiers that escaped as well as a secret government organization hunting them down, everything else is different (including how they kept the main leads apart on the series--however, NOT in real life, as Jessica Alba got engaged to and was living with her co-star Michael Weatherly at the time). I still see the way that they handled BATB as being completely different and following a different direction. It is certainly unique as compared to anything else on the air at this time. Sigh. As long as we do well in the summer, I guess I will learn to be happy with the show at least remaining on the air, even in this reduced capacity.

I wonder if the majority of the jury watched more than one or two episodes. IMHO the acting of GR is nothing compared to KK. the acting generally in the show is poor and exaggerated. rodriguez is sweet and likeable but having watched a few episodes the acting became somewhat repetiive. no way in h..l would i nominate her for any major best actress award. ok PCAs are different - they are fans voting for their favourites. but supposedley (clearly nto the case) GGs are meant to be about quality and talent and i can think of soooooooo many actresses who are more charismatic. i watched orange is the new black recently - one by one they are all incredible (funnily the main actress is the least impressive IMO but still good). the girl who won best acting for the affair - she was brilliant too! also virgin as a show is just sweet. it is not even funny. also again having watched a few episodes it was becoming more and more repetitive. ti is also too light and fluffy for my taste. somebody described it as belonging in teh disney channel and i woudl totally agree with that. i am not saying that from a biased standpoint. i genuinely feel like that regardless of batb.

Amen, Anapi.
And I KNOW that BATB has writing issues. As many times as the show has had to change directions and re-invent itself (sometimes poorly), there are certainly problems and even continuity issues. But BATB still has something more to it--why else would so many of us just love it so? I give a VAST amount of credit to KK and JR for being able to deliver lines that would otherwise be cheesy in such a way that just exudes passion and sincerity. And THAT just makes you believe in the main couple. So you are just addicted to watching their struggle to be together. It is that love that transcends all that just gets you. "Roswell" and "Buffy" (when she was with Angel) also had that quality between the leads.
I admit that I hope that Season 3 will deal more with the almost supernatural elements of the Pull between VinCat and the implications of a bond that close. Again, did someone ultimately intend for such a bond to be created or was this just the way the original Beast species operated? Is this bond just unique to VinCat? I think the Origins issues was badly handled in Season 2, but it doesn't mean that the writers can't somehow redeem themselves in Season 3 since they no longer have to worry about producing poorly-written love triangles. There are a lot of unanswered questions and issues that could be addressed in Season 3, and I admit to having great hopes for the season. And somehow, it won't matter if the writers again let me down. The cast somehow just takes the sometimes badly-written words and just makes them mean something. The cast has great comedic timing as well as being able to handle serious and sad scenes well (and goodness knows if you previously watched "Smallville," the writers and viewers KNOW that KK can handle sad and crying scenes since they seemed to write that so much for her!). So BATB just somehow WORKS and manages to come off as different, unique, and original (even when it may not be).

For me good acting is to be able to deliver deep emotions by voice, body language and eyes in a believable way. I can see those qualities in KK, JR and nearly (not Amber/Tori ) all the other cast of BATB. I can't see those qualities in GR or any other cast of JtV. For me GR just always has nearly the same facial expression in every scene! And I too, think there would be many actresses out there aside of BATB who would have deseved this award more. Agreed! Mee too!

Since 2013 season, three different shows in that timeslot have only managed ratings in the .2-.4 range. I've never watched JTV but looking at the GG results, it looks to me that their win was the only award won by one of the broadcast networks last night, not that they were even in the running for many to begin with. The Globes reputation has improved in recent years, but for a long time, people would say that you could buy the awards and always pointed to Pia Zadora "winning" New Star of the Year in a Motion Picture as proof.

OK I have another question, not sure it is the right place here, forgive me if it isn't... Question for European Beasties: have you pre-ordered Season2 DVDs already from Amazon? I can pre-order them but only from Amazon UK, not from Amazon France, and I'm hesitating because it might take longer time for shipping than if I wait for the Amazon France availability...guess I'll wait until end of February to see if there's any change in that matter.
