Oh yay for Gina winning a Globe. The CW is prob on cloud9. Surprised the actual show didn't win. And btw I am being very sarcastic!bstikl don't understand what is so great about that show! I'm actually happy for Gina and the CW, not being sarcastic. I have nothing against JTV, I'm truly happy that the CW finally has a golden globe (and some respect that goes with it). I just wish the CW would show BATB a little more love. I guess we're like the sibling that gets ignored, while parents shower the new darling baby girl with all the attention. It is what it is, I just want the CW to do right for BATB. Hopefully now that it's a summer show, the timing will work for BATB to be present again at promo events like the CW Upfronts and SDCC. If not, I'll be bummed. Sibling? Try the foster kid who lives in a cupboard under the stairs

also and again that shows the network's attitude towards batb. the first question asked by journalists to pedowiz was about batb his first reaction: "why the heck is the first question about batb"?! yup , sums it up really Really, that’s what he said? Where did you read this? I’ve never watched JTV(the premise of the show is just not my cup of tea), so can’t say anything about the show’s quality or the actress, only TV critics seem to love both. I’ve thought a bit about what M.P. said yesterday and its possible implications. What was most surprising was the early renewal of all 8 fall shows. Very interesting, the bit about the Netflix deal by Pippin. But this can only mean some of it will get shortened seasons, but if they would want to launch 4 new scripted shows next again year, plus all the planned comedy/reality shows, there still wouldn’t be room enough for all of them. So some of the lower rated shows could be part of the announced 2016 summer line up (maybe for Messenger and iZombie they have summer in mind, too). And I don’t believe for one second they had planned BATB to be a summer show right from the start when they picked it up for season 3. If this was the case the actors and producers would have known earlier. It was obvious that even Austin Basis had no idea until yesterday. He had to ask his friend Danielle Turchiano on twitter: Austin Basis @austinbasis · @danielletbd let know when my show is airing...!!! #BATB

I'm wondering how much the Netflix deal and the fact that this is the last season the deal covers is factoring into some of these renewal decisions. I just posted this on the Sweet board the CW's billion dollar deal with Netflix was only for 4 seasons, meaning only the shows airing from the 2011-2012 season through the 2014-2015 season are included in that deal. When you consider what that deal means to the network, it could be a big factor in why they basically renewed everything and why Pedowitz still today said that they haven't made decisions on Hart of Dixie or Beauty. As a network, the CW loses money, since its overall low ratings bring in only modest ad revenue. But as Pedowitz explained to reporters Tuesday at the TV Critics Association press tour, C-Dub shows such as Supernatural and The Vampire Diaries are actually very profitable thanks in no small part to a deal with Netflix that yields millions of dollars in extra revenue for the streaming rights to each season of those shows. www.vulture.com/2013/07/netflix-is-...e-cw-alive.htmlUnder the agreement, Netflix has the rights to stream every episode of every show the youth-oriented CW is airing this season plus any shows it debuts before the fall of 2015.
Under the new CW deal, Netflix could pay anywhere from $150,000 to slightly more than $700,000 an episode for series, depending on a show's popularity and how long it has been on the air, among other factors.www.wsj.com/articles/SB100014240529...628983215283342So I understand. Does the deal end in 2015 or does it continue for another four years for any show debuting before fall 15? And are all cw shows then on Netflix? And when would the deal end for batb? In fall 15 or after it aired 4 seasons? The way I understand it, the deal was only for four years so only applies to those SCRIPTED shows that aired on the CW from the 2011/2012 season through the 2014/2015 season. That's why a show like Smallville wasn't included since it stopped airing at the end of the 2010/2011 season and it won't apply to any show that starts in the 2015/2016 season, unless the CW and Neflix ink another deal. The shows that fall under the Netflix deal can apparently be streamed by Netflix for 10 years. I don't know if that means 10 years after each show's final season or 10 years from the time each season is available on Netflix.

hmm i dont know you know.. i mean their slot availability is very very specific . they knew when they renewed these shows that it would be a midseason show and they clearly already had plans to introduce whose line and other shows mid season. maybe their plans were to air it in summer but did not commit to that in case one of the otehr shows failed miserably (0.1 type of fail) in which case they would air ealry. seriously i wish i knew how they take their decisions

Is there an article or video somewhere with the whole Q&A with Pedowitz?

Thank you! OK, that’s only a simplified summary of the Q+A, also "why the heck is our first question about BATB" were not M.Pedowitz’ words, it’s a remark by the "journalist" who wrote that article

At first I thought there was no way he'd use "heck" at a formal press conference But then with their record of how they've treated us so far it didn't seem so farfetched either. But you're right

Questions about BATB irritates the CW, the so called experts (journalists who hates BATB) because this show BATB is supposed to be dead already, irrelevant, lowest rating show but still it's being asked as the first question. Also, still winning PCAs or any other polls. It's getting under their skins for sure.

Also thanks from me Laura. I don't think the article is exactly what M.P. actually said. I think there are more flaws in that writing too. E.g. Pedowitz says that the network wants producers and fans out there engaged with fans, though admits a potential danger is too much obsession. But if M.P. does said that (or something like that) I would imply that he would like BATB to cancel but can't because of fans, PCA, international sales, netflix ...

All of this is just really annoying the say the least. I'm so frustrated in how the CW and it management team treat this show but yet can promote IMHO other shows so willy nilly and just sweep BATB under the carpet. For God sake just give us a actual return date and none of this May/June crap. Also why in the world do we have to wait for almost WHOLE year to return. Freakin annoying!!!

But you're right I would have surprised me if M.P. would have used such words. But he might have been secretly thinking it. At summer TCA’s he asked a journalist (it was Jay Bobbins @tmsjay) who mainly had questions about BATB, if he should send him the DVD box. It was meant to be funny, but to me it seemed he got annoyed he had to talk so much about BATB instead of them being all enthusiastic about the new falls shows.
