I do not believe that the actors has abandone the show. I think they do their job well but the tone of the show has changed. The romance of getting to know each other and falling in love of S 1 you can not compare with the love and the established relationship of S3 . I think in S 3 we can see anorher but equally strong Eric love. I agree. But as we like that love and longing I feel it would be great for the writers to recreate that by Introducing some challenging storylines that can help at least temporarily ignite the s1 type flame and longing that would be good if they did it

I've read all your post and in fact I was thinking about something that has change in the new season between them both on the way they portray VinCat moment and KK/JR feeling about the show: They changed their loving moment to sweet/cute moment, not sexual moment (except for the first scene of ep1 S3): I don't think it is all about the writing (maybe this could influence the lenght of the scene), maybe they are afraid that a lot of people could see in their (wonderful) way of acting those scene something deeper or personal, and they decide to slow down the chemistry to make all those crazy voices in rest. Plus, if we can trust what the poor track guy that made the picture with KK/JR and his baby, both their significant other are on set and that is not a good thing (and can lead to trust issue...) and obviusly not help or can influence that kind of scene.
I have the same idea that both KK and JR are not so interested anymore in the show and I'm quite sure that all of them are aware that this could be their last season, even Austin is trying to start new projects (as he said on twitter)
I won't give up and I'm curious to see what is in store for us

Frankly, if they were all not interested in the show, you could tell by the way they talk about the show in general or in interviews. Nothing could be further from the truth. Talking about new projects is what actors do all the time.

You know... I had so high hopes for the reunion scene of S2 but... it hasn't been the truly, spontaneous hot steamy love scene I was waiting... and THAT moment would really have been the ONE good for that kind of scene.... I don't want to criticize the scenes we got, I alwyas will be fine with what we can get... VinCat are always so special to me and their gazes, touches... always make my heart beat faster... but... I truly gave up since S2....

Hey everyone,
Wonderful discussion here about the chemistry and romantic scene changes throughout the seasons.
I just have one little request of all participants.
Pretty pretty please leave discussion of Season 4 spoilers, as well as spoilers for any Season 3 episodes that have not been aired in the US, out of the conversation until such a time they have aired. Primarily because of where this thread is posted for discussion. General Conversations. As I'm sure you know, the rules of the forum state no spoilers outside of the spoiler specific area.
Please be courteous to those members who do not visit that part of the forum, but since this thread is in the General Discussion area, may want to read this thread and want to get involved in conversation...but instead get spoiled when they didn't want to.
Thank you everyone!!!!

I think you all worry too much.
I am yet to see an onscreen couple where the onscreen chemistry would remain the same for more than two seasons. And I have watched my share of TV shows.
Actually, come to think of it, Moonlighting was one of the very few TV show where the chemistry between the two leads had been excellent throughout the entire series yet the two leads could not stand each other in real life.
You don't need to be good friends to have good chemistry. Likewise, you can be the best friends/lovers off the screen but your onscreen chemistry is lacking.
I think many of the fans took the hotness of season 1 for granted. Truth is, the way they kissed in season 1 was not standard for network television.
Yes, they took things down a notch. They toned down the kissing. Yet I do not see the lack of chemistry at all. Quite the opposite actually. They really portray the growth of the relationship perfectly.

Let's say Bruce and Cybill did not see eye to eye. lol. I thought this was a public knowledge after all these years. He found her very difficult to work with although I am not sure which one of them was the real diva. It only became publicly known once the show went off air although stories about Cybill's outbursts on set were quite famous. Yes, they had great chemistry. Goes to illustrate how tricky the subject of chemistry is.

NotOnTv It's interesting that you brought up Moonlighting actually (which BTW I loved in the beginning - LOL back when Bruce Willis had hair!!) This is because reading some of the posts in these forums, the phrase "Jump the Shark" kept popping into my head and Moonlighting is often referenced whenever this issue surfaces in a TV series. Personally, I'm fine with the character development in Catherine and Vincent. Season 1 was all tumultuous epic love, with will-they-won't-they kiss/consummate their love etc. Season 2 was about splitting up and finding themselves again before inevitably getting back together (and yes, I didn't really buy Gabe as a viable romantic interest alternative for Cat but he's gone now, so *shrug*). Season 3 so far really seems to me about them continuing to develop within the new relationship and I like that they now have an awareness of the issues that both of them face being together. Perhaps Cat is a little too obsessed with these supernatural cases, which may be partly due to her personality (which we have to admit is probably related to her traumatic experience with her mum's murder) and also partly with her feeling that VinCat has a greater purpose in life together. BUT I don't think we should ever forget that all this comes from a core of love - true, epic, deep and tested love between her and Vincent. She wants to keep Vincent safe. It was first a necessity, then became something of a habit, maybe even becoming annoying but the bottom line is that she loves him and doesn't want to lose him. Strong, independent woman that she is, Cat naturally does what she can and that is a lot! I actually feel that Vincent as portrayed so far this season is a bit too laid back. He doesn't want his life to be all about these cases, yes, but the fact is that Bob and Carol are out there, they know about Vincent the Beast and he really should be wondering why they haven't tried to eliminate Vincent and Catherine with their mad sniper skills. I mean, would Vincent have taken the threat more seriously if Bob had shot Cat in the park while she was with Heather? So his ego got a little bruised by needing Cat to save him sometimes, but he needs to remember that he has saved Cat many times as well. <Spoiler removed. Please do not mention spoilers for episodes not yet aired in the US.>I think now that the writers have shown how VinCat have awareness of their issues, they can move forward together and hopefully now we will learn more about the big bad for this season, as well as more about the "mythological mystery" which seems to have been ignored apart from a few conversations between Tess and Cat as well as Cat and Vincent in S03E01. There should be a few big emotional beats in the rest of the season, <Spoiler removed. Please do not mention spoilers for episodes not yet aired in the US.> Yes, I would like to see the old ending of every episode with a cute/touching/passionate moment between our pair, but it may start seeming a bit contrived after a while....

Okay guys.
I asked everyone nicely once after having to edit the thread already because of spoilers in multiple posts. Any more discussion about episodes that have not yet aired in the US will result in your entire post being removed. And this includes Season 4.
I and the other staff members will not be doing individual edits on posts any more in this thread, and frankly anywhere outside of the spoiler appropriate threads either. We see a spoiler and your post, as well as the posts of anyone who responded to you, will be removed.
Please keep spoiler discussion to the spoiler area. I know it's tempting to share what you know from spoilers, especially when some "non-spoiled" people are communicating concerns based only on what they've seen on screen etc, but please don't do it. Not unless you'd like to have your posts and the posts of your fellow members removed simply because a spoiler was mentioned when it shouldn't have been.

I'll never give up. I'm lovin S3 just the way it is, but I'm still hoping for more of that old S1 magic, even in small doses, to appear during S3. It's still very early in the season, way too early to give up hope!
