Despite annoying supporting characters (yes, I'm looking at you Tess and Evan), "Worth" is definitely one of my FAVORITE season one episodes. It was pure romance. The first conversation between Vincent and Catherine was painful. They were at odds in their communication, Catherine was trying to reach out and Vincent was trying to protect himself. I loved Vincent's expression when Catherine left. He knew he'd been harsh and he didn't like that he had to be. Another reason Evan caused me to dislike him, the scene with Catherine's father. Talk about taking advantage. Second Annoying Person Award goes to Tess. Why was she worried about who Cat hooked up with? She was acting like she was in high school and she bugged the crap out of me. Catherine's moment of vulnerability with Evan outside the crime scene...after being "rejected" by Vincent, she would have let Evan kiss her (maybe she even wanted him to to soothe her wounded pride), but he missed his window of opportunity...in more ways than one. Loved Catherine's comment that "serial dating" wasn't her only issue with Evan. Agreed, the other issue was Vincent, the one she wanted. Loved when Thomas called Catherine out on her less than desirable character traits. She needed to hear that. Again. Since when is a canvas painted blue, greenish-yellow or orange abstract? Vincat scene #2. This time Vincent is trying to reach out and Catherine is protecting her heart. Evan is mildly amusing when he shows up at Cat's apartment, but the slow pan up Vincent's body as he stood on the fire escape was hot. Also glowing eyes made it perfectly clear how he felt about some other dude hitting on Catherine. I thought Tess looked nice at the gallery opening. Vincent on the catwalk staring intently at Catherine...hot. Evan, that's your competition and I have two words for you...no chance.
Vincat scene #3, "Come with me." Mr. Keller knows how to bring it.
There is no doubt in my mind that Vincent was talking about his feelings for Catherine when he described Nicholas's artwork to her. That scene is golden; definitely one of the most intimate and romantic scenes Beast has ever done. Nicholas saw Daphne's true worth and Catherine saw Vincent's; she wasn't going to let him push her away or doubt how she felt about him again. Scene #4 was just delicious in its honesty and longing. I don't know how those two kept themselves from falling on Vincent's bed right then. I agree that the abruptness of the ending boggles my mind still. That clunkiness brought the episode down to a rating of 8 rather than 10. But otherwise, LOVED it!
