This is the episode for me that totally hooked me!!! It was Christmas, I had time off from work and came across a clip on Youtube. I was a fan of the original series, so was curious.... It was not on UK tv at that point so I went online and found a site. Really enjoyed it from the start and blitz watched it. When I got to Worth and the scene in the studio.....I was OMG...that voice, the chemistry.....and the rest is history. Have to say though that I am no longer as obsessed as I was and I lay that at the door of the season 2 story arc. Vincat having other love interests took the shine off their romance for me... Here's hoping that Season 3 turns me back into an addict xx Season 3 is gonna be the best yet! I just have a really great feeling about it:)

I agree, there was defenitly something off with the last scene. It ended too abruptly, it looked like something was cut off and Cat’s voiceover was added later in the editing process. I will never forget when I first watched this episode. It was a Friday evening in November 2012. I started into BATB in early November. It was on my list of new shows to try out in fall, because the 80s version was one of my favorite shows in my teenage years, but then I read some horrible reviews of the pilot, and it wasn’t top priority anymore. But on some rainy weekend, when I had nothing else to watch, I decided to finally take a look at the BATB pilot. I found most of the criticism confirmed and was even unsure if to continue. First impression: The case was very weak, KK and Nina Lisandrello looked and acted ridiculous as cops, and the Beast wasn’t beastly enough. But I saw the chemistry between Vincent and Catherine right from the start, and that, along with Jay Ryans portrayal of Vincent, was enough to keep me watching. I enjoyed it more and more, the other actors soon grew on me, and after ep 4 it became the show I was looking forward for the most every week. Then came episode 6. What shall I say that hasn’t been said before. The scene in the painters studio swept me off my feet. In so many years of watching TV, hardly ever a scene got to me like this one, it was so beautifully done. The lines, the way they were delivered, the music… perfection. I realized this show was unique. Most writers of other shows would not dare to do such scenes, thinking they’d be cheesy or over the top. Also, not many actors could pull this off, but due to the portrayal of KK and JR(kudos to the genius who casted them), scenes like this never felt cheesy to me, only heartfelt and real. So ep 6 for me was the key episode that brought me from merely liking this show to becoming an obsession. Sadly, the season 1 writers are all gone by now, I think the only one left is Roger Grant. Although I enjoyed many VinCat moments in season 2, they could never evoke the feelings I had during scenes like the one described above and similar season 1 scenes that followed. Some season 2 writers clearly shied away from the deep emotional conversations, and tried to give VinCat too much of a Mr and Mrs Smith vibe, which, in my opinion, didn’t suit them at all and changed the tone too much. Now they added a bunch of new writers for season 3, and honestly I’ve got to say I’m a bit skeptical seeing where they are coming from(what according to their twitter accounts, seems to be more of the geek /science fiction/ comic book corner) But until I haven’t seen anything of season 3, so far I still tend to give them a vote of confidence. Let’s see if someone has learned from season 2 mistakes. And I would still watch this show with Vincent and Catherine reading their lines from a telephone book, because no one ever can destroy the chemistry between them, that’s for sure I agree with all your points, just adding a few more: I liked the pilot solely because of the "You're him!" line. There were lines and scenes which made me giggle or seemed awkward to me at first. However, after I got obsessed with the show, and when I re-watched the pilot, I didn't find anything I didn't like anymore. I think that's mainly because I was no longer objective The art studio scene (which is also my Twitter header), however, is what officially set VinCat apart from other couples for me. I agree with you, some lines said by other actors/characters and I'd cringe; but with VinCat.. Well they just put a silly grin on my face. As for their chemistry, well, completely agree with you I think that's what got many of us hooked initially. Oh and I also agree with Anna; Beast Is the New Black gave me season one feels and I too think it was an incredible episode

I agree Ana. Episode 19 & 20 in S1 weren't all that great. Def higher up on my list then some S2 episodes, but there were S2 episodes mostly 215-222 that were 5x better than the last few episodes of S1. 1x22 was okay. But I do think they could've given us more than what they have us for a season finale. I def liked the S1 beast on beast fight better than S2 fight, but I liked the pace of 2x22 better than 1x22s pace

The writing staff was mostly the same in S1 and S2, so I believe it had more to do with the edict that Kern got from TPTB to expand the audience - meaning attracting more males to the show. Beast is the New Black is a good example showing that the writing team in S2 still could produce the S1 magic, but overall S2 seemed to focus on adding elements that male viewers might also like. They obviously failed big time in their attempt to attract more males, myself being an exception, and alienated some of the female audience in the process. Which was a shame. They've got many new writers now, so the jury is out on S3. But given Kern's comment about S3 honoring the loyal fans and CA's comment about S3 being her favorite season, I remain very optimistic about S3. I'm really hoping we'll get more of that S1 magic back like in the episode Worth.

In the last scene, when Vincent says "I don't know how to do this." I just melt...every. single. time.

Lol, the same happened to me, too. I even didn’t find KK’s and Nina Lisandrellos cop portrayal bad any more, because I knew it would improve a lot in the eps to come Yes, I also agree about the last few season1 eps, and there have been a few well written, beautiful and emotional scenes in s2, with 217 getting closest to s1, but still not quite the same for me. Never had this "OMG" feeling Mrs Forbes Glass Half Full described, in season 2 (the feeling I just had witnessed something unique, that will always be special to me). That scene in "Worth" became instantly one of my all time favorite TV scenes ever (OK, most of my other all time favorite TV scenes are now from BATB, too ).

Jason Gedrick compared the show to Moonlighting(remember David and Maddy?- that would be more of Mr and Mrs Smith again), but we’ll see! Hopefully we'll get positivley surprised.

I hope they will have some conversations like in s1 where the two are talking honest about their feelings. And deal with the problems of their relationship in a believable and mature way. If I get that I won't mind funny dialogues or scenes like mr&mrs smith. But I too fear that I will not get this in the amount I would like to see due to the pace and storylines.

I loved that show... maybe because I love men with sense of humor and I don't like extra sweet dialogs. I think V & C don't need to discuss their feelings anymore... Or better I hope so, because otherwise it means that they have moved away from each other. I know that they have to discuss about how to manage the life together like any other new couple in the same house. At the same time probably writers hope to take a new audience (IMO only a few men could bear watch BATB ) and I can see JR & KK play those funny parts in a good way. TV Shows like Castle have the same atmosphere and are successful shows. The only thing that I don't want is to put this "funny way" in love scenes: those must remain romantic

I know the falling in love phase is over , and I also understand that there has to be some character development, or else it would get boring soon. But even after VinCat were together, there have been some unforgettable season 1 scenes, like the dialogue in the subway train or Vincent taking the pill in Date Night. You couldn’t even call all these scenes "extra sweet"(wouldn't like that either), they were simply emotional and moving and perfectly captured. And while I know some Beasties prefer the more self-confident Vincent 3.0, I will always love Vincent 1.0 the most. The adult way of dealing with partnership problems was another season 1 trademark, which rarely could be found on another show. I would like to see more of those deep, meaningful s01 conversations again, and I hope the writers aren’t afraid of it in fear of getting overly melodramatic. Don’t get me wrong, I love their funny scenes in between now and then, they can play that excellent as well. (Moonlighting was also another favorite show of mine, but Maddy and David certainly weren’t known for their mature dialogue, ) I agree the lack of it may have been more due to B.Kerns changing of the general direction. The Mr and Mrs Smith comparison were his words, but you could also see the difference in writing styles(compare Sherri+Jennifer written episodes (their only ep I wasn’t so fond of was 213 Till Death) with let’s say ep220 Ever After). When asked, which seasons she liked more, Gillian Horvath answered s 2, because of daddy Reynolds being a more interesting villain. Well, that’s true, and Brad Kern’s her boss, so she probably had to say season 2, but that’s the reason s 2 is better? And there was this latest script spoiler tidbit, where to me it seemed they were mocking some season 1 lines ( "I can’t live without you") a bit. But again, there have been other s03 spoilers which sounded very promising, so… Seems as a Beastie I’m always worried about something , and this thread about the masterpiece "Worth" got me a bit season 1 nostalgic

I agree with everything said here about this episode. That scene in the studio, it knocked me of my feet. That was the scene that totally hooked me on Vincent, and on the show. Don't get me wrong, I loved the show from the pilot, but that scene just stands out, it took everything to a whole new level for me. I'm home alone tonight, I think I'm gonna rewatch this episode while painting my nails, have some much needed girl-time .

But maybe it can be replaced by something as good as. I totally agree. Nothing can be as magical as season 1 was when Vincat fell in love with each other, but that doesn't mean that an established couple can't be hot, romantic and dealing with stuff. I don't know what is going to happen in Season 3 (and I want to keep it that way), but I'm hopeful that the season will rock and our Vincat will sizzle.
