yeeeahh… but being the press, should there be more professionalism in them? unbelievable… reminded me of that certain lady "journalis" who's not to be named some time ago… I think MP was prepared for that onslaught. He knew he would have to justify renewing the worst performing show against a better performing one but he had his answers. I think his answers were what infuriated them because they had no come back to him saying digitally the show does better, that it has upward potential and a great social media presence. All these are facts that they really couldn't argue against. We will commiserate with them and let them heal at this time. But BATB is back on air next month so we must double our efforts to show that MP has his head screwed on straight because I am sure the press will be shoving the low ratings next month in his face all the time. then i'll definitely NEED to RECHARGE! exhausted with real life…. and virtual life I have exactly 17 days to recuperate. hell, make it 16 days! beasties who watch Batb in the wee early hours ( anapi -season3baby :) Savana_ Dying for season3! i believe you are two of them right), can u please PM me the link to showcase? I just miss VinCat so much…

i have one question about all the hatred they express for BATB : HOD get renewed too for a fourth season and it didn't do good on rating either ? in fact they didn't do good in rating the whole three seasons , and in its first season it aired with the famous ( Secret Circle ) and it got renewed while the famous one got canceled ?! it didn't win any awards or even nominated for one , not like BATB with its many awards those two years ?! but the show doesn't take even half the hatred BATB takes ? it doesn't take any hate at all ? it is like all the hatred directed only toward our show ?! why ? that is not fair at all ?!

you made your point very well I wish I had an one to one with Pedowitz or whoever is in the PR etc department cause I need to understand it surely does not cost them more money to include a few more secs of BATB in the reel. another 5 seconds I would have been satisfied with. make it a bit more equal instead we got tons of reign and TVD unless somebody religiously watches BATB they would have not even noticed it is in the reel and it would not have got them interested to watch the show! and is that not the point of a reel? they better make a midseason one before teh show airs and they better have us feature for more than a second agrrrr I'm sure they will make another one. They did at least two this season but they NEED to feature us more.

I agree with you rani and I will ssay what I have said many times before - people fear and/or hate that which they don't understand, that which is different and that which ascribes to a different set of values or beliefs. Our show is all of that. It dares to be different, to step away from the common herd and it inspires a love and passion in it's fans that cannot be understood by outsiders

I can't answer your questions about other shows, however, my guess is that some people have a knee jerk negative reaction to the "idea" of BATB without ever watching. The other issue, and this is a big one if you ask me, is that the second season has been pretty below average when it comes to character development and storyline. Based on the quality of the story they told, not the production values (etc. which were better), I would think it should have been cancelled too. We might love BATB, but on a scale of 1-10, sometimes we have to ask ourselves how good the story they are telling is, how compelling.... I know this is an unpopular opinion around here, but if I didn't have a fondness for the show I watched in S1 - I would ask the same freaking question. I almost feel like they deserve the crapstorm they are dealing with, based on the quality of the work that they put out in S2. I mean even the beginning of S2 with the "Beast of the week" came off as pretty lame in a way. BATB constantly walks the line between mediocrity and excellence, and in S2 they lost the edge. Maybe the production values got better, etc. but the characters and the relationships - everything that made the show good fell apart. How many good JT & Vincent moments were there? For weeks JT - the main source of humor on the show- was underused as they pushed bad acting (I won't even say who) to the forefront. Every love triangle and relationship that they tried to shove in our face lacked chemistry, and character and/or relationship development. Plus they introduced new characters, and story lines which were awful. I mean, I don't know, I'm not sure what people expect. Couple a creatively lacking second season, with terrible ratings, and an annoyingly devoted fan base - I think this is almost to be expected. The reason this show was renewed, was not because of the storyline, the character development, or anything having to do with excellence from a creative standpoint. It has to do with the fan base.
I mean, by episode 16 the creative team, even, had abandoned their plan for the season because it was failing miserably. ETA: For the record, I can't stand S2, but I love this show, I'm just trying to keep it real. I don't think that S2 warranted a renewal, save for the fan base, and the cast. And like it or not that is the kind o thing that bugs the hell out of most people.

I second that. Normally people don't watch something they hate. Does not torture themselves with a story they don't like. So those who speak like that didn't watch more than a few episodes and probably have no idea what is the story line in season two.

The ratings were abysmal and many fans jumped ship. I think it is a logical question to question the renewal under these circumstances. I'm also afraid that MP and company made things worse by talking about social presence - or was it social media? Nothing he said went to the core of the creative foundation of the show, or anything that matters when it comes to how GOOD a TV show really is. Just because you have an amazing fan base, doesn't ultimately mean you are doing exceptional work. I'm not saying ratings are the only thing that matter - only that a creatively bland second season, poor ratings, and failing story lines make this a logical question. S2 (so far) should have been AMAZING. It wasn't, though, and that leaves a lot of questions and not many answers when it comes to the decision to renew. Also, I don't think BATB deserves "hate" from the media of any sort, I just feel it is logical to question the renewal under the circumstances. You may be right though, I guess I'm just not that surprised.

Who cares if the press got their noses out of joint and don't like a programming decision made by a network? They can scream all they want, they have no leverage. All they can do is bash a show they don't like and haven't liked since day one. Seems like the tail trying to wag the dog to me.

You may be right though, I guess I'm just not that surprised. i have to agree with anapi -season3baby :) and Nelly here dear , yes some of the fans didn't like so many things about S2 storyline ( you know i am one of them ) but i still consider myself a fan , i don't go all over the Internet sits to throw hatred for the show and its fans ! i come here or in another forum in my first language to discuss the specified things i don't like with people who watch every single scene from the show like me so they can understand what i am talking about those aren't whom i am talking about , 95% at lest from the hateful comments come from people who don't watch the show at all or just watch a few scene in S1 they aren't even familiar with the characters or the events , and that what i find really odd ?! i mean i can understand if they watch the show and didn't like it , but to hate it like that with its fans without knowing what they are talking about ?! but on a second thought i get the reason now ? what BATB have and HOD doesn't ? is its fan base ! its a light show with viewers (i watch it sometime myself when i have free time and its ok ) but it sure doesn't have a loyal devoted fan base like the beasties , not many people could get upset if it get canceled , that means the hateful people won't find receivers to their hate ! also they hate the fact that the beasties have that power and effect the decision , they knew from S1 that the beasties are a major factor of the renewal for second season , and now CW confirm it ? i think they hate the fact that their favorite shows don't have that powerful , devoted fan base ?! one thing i have to take it out of my chest , anyone heard them talk about TTP doing better in rating than BATB ? he may think it got a rating like ( Castle ) or (Bones) or any other famous show airs on Monday ? but the difference between their rating and BATB rating isn't that big ? their final episode got (0,4) if i am not wrong , and SC final ep got (0,3) , imo to pick over a show doing that good in international markets like BATB you have to get double or triple its rating not the same or just a little better !

And like it or not that is the kind o thing that bugs the hell out of most people. Most of the negative reviews/comments I've seen from "professional" entertainment journalists have been snarky and lightweight in content. I get the feeling that they are trying to out-do each other with their cleverness instead of discussing the merits of the story, acting and technical work. IMO, if you are not going to offer an unbiased critique, why should anyone take your remarks seriously? With few exceptions have they (the press) presented a strong case with valid points as to why they think BATB should be cancelled. TPTB had said repeatedly that factors besides ratings come into play, so what's the next question? If your whole argument is ratings and you've been told that's not the end all, then you need to ask different questions or close your notebook and go home. Have they watched any of the episodes? Have they watched the whole season? Disliking a show is not a good enough reason for a network to kill it. Neither is having an annoying fan base (which also kind of kills the theory that no one is watching). I have to wonder how many episodes any of these people have watched if they can't speak intelligently about the show. From what I've read The Tomorrow People didn't perform well in the ratings either and even if it performed only marginally better than BATB that's not a reason to keep it on the schedule. Reign should not have received the early renewal it got either based on ratings, but apparently its pretty to look at and appeals to the teenybopper crowd. It seems to me that CW programs primarily for its fan-boy audience (Arrow, The Flash, SPN) its shipper audience (TVD, Reign, SPN) and the scraps go to its adult audience and most likely their smallest audience (BATB, HOD and formerly Nikita). S2 has been sketchy is places, but BATB deserved a S3 pickup. I honestly believe the sour grapes are just that and I believe more goes into deciding what shows stay and what shows go than ratings. At any rate, its done so the haters can just suck it up or shut up, either way, I'm not listening to their bleating anymore.

Also, I don't think BATB deserves "hate" from the media of any sort, I just feel it is logical to question the renewal under the circumstances. You may be right though, I guess I'm just not that surprised. i have to agree with anapi -season3baby :) and Nelly here dear , yes some of the fans didn't like so many things about S2 storyline ( you know i am one of them ) but i still consider myself a fan , i don't go all over the Internet sits to throw hatred for the show and its fans ! i come here or in another forum in my first language to discuss the specified things i don't like with people who watch every single scene from the show like me so they can understand what i am talking about those aren't whom i am talking about , 95% at lest from the hateful comments come from people who don't watch the show at all or just watch a few scene in S1 they aren't even familiar with the characters or the events , and that what i find really odd ?! i mean i can understand if they watch the show and didn't like it , but to hate it like that with its fans without knowing what they are talking about ?! but on a second thought i get the reason now ? what BATB have and HOD doesn't ? is its fan base ! its a light show with viewers (i watch it sometime myself when i have free time and its ok ) but it sure doesn't have a loyal devoted fan base like the beasties , not many people could get upset if it get canceled , that means the hateful people won't find receivers to their hate ! also they hate the fact that the beasties have that power and effect the decision , they knew from S1 that the beasties are a major factor of the renewal for second season , and now CW confirm it ? i think they hate the fact that their favorite shows don't have that powerful , devoted fan base ?! one thing i have to take it out of my chest , anyone heard them talk about TTP doing better in rating than BATB ? he may think it got a rating like ( Castle ) or (Bones) or any other famous show airs on Monday ? but the difference between their rating and BATB rating isn't that big ? their final episode got (0,4) if i am not wrong , and SC final ep got (0,3) , imo to pick over a show doing that good in international markets like BATB you have to get double or triple its rating not the same or just a little better ! I just think that I LIKE the show and S2 has been extremely underwhelming from a creative standpoint. Even as someone who loves the show, I'm a bit baffled by the decision. Do I think that gives them the right to be hateful, absolutely not, but I'm not surprised anyone questions the renewal decision. I feel like BATB really needed to hit it's stride in S2, and instead, it struggled, at least from a creative standpoint to find it's footing. Even with the fan base, I think that makes renewal odds pretty slim. There are charming things about being the underdog, but I think BATB failed to prove itself in it's sophomore season.

Season 2 isn't over yet. We still haven't seen the last 6 episodes. I LOVED episode 16, and I am anxiously awaiting the last 6.
