Half hour numbers for CW shows last night
TVD: 8:00pm-8:30pm: 1.4 demo // 3.03 million viewers 8:30pm-9:00pm: 1.2 demo // 2.74 million viewers
BATB: 9:00pm-9:30pm: 0.6 demo // 1.60 million viewers 9:30pm-10:00pm: 0.5 demo // 1.52 million viewers
Remember this isn't the final numbers, but it looks like Beasties tuned out BEFORE THE KISS!!! This is why the CW should've promoted that the kiss was happening.
(Also possible people tuned out to watch the last 30 mins of American Idol.)

Yeah, I really don't get the lack of promotion for the kiss... If you aren't a hard core Beastie, you would have no idea... Ay, the things people do.......

Yeah, I really don't get the lack of promotion for the kiss... If you aren't a hard core Beastie, you would have no idea... Ay, the things people do....... Exactly my point. My mom loves this show, but she's not hopping on to Twitter to follow Jay Ryan and discovering there was going to be a kiss. It's ridiculous. They should've had a promo that said something like "THE MOMENT BEASTIES HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR..." they didn't even have to show where the kiss itself happened. Just have lettering saying that a kiss was coming. That's IT!!! Ugh. It's frustrating. I don't watch other CW shows -- with the exception of HOD -- and I've seen a BATB commercial on HOD once that I can remember. I've seen every other show advertised during it multiple times. It's like the CW doesn't care! Not to mention that in all their promos with multiple shows, BATB always gets the least amount of time. It's ridiculous. ANYWAY focusing on the ratings, we should know soon enough what the "final" numbers are. I'm just hoping that we do not adjust down. I'm a little worried that we lost viewers in the second half. Generally BATB is pretty steady. Just want to keep the 0.6, while I'd like a 0.7, I would rather not have 0.5 so 0.6 will do for now. 0.6 keeps us on the bubble. 0.5 puts us closer to jeopardy. 0.4 or lower is certain cancellation numbers. *UPDATE*Ugh. Just like I worried based on drop in viewers for second half. BATB adjusted down in finals. We got 0.5! BATB: 0.5/1 (demo/share) & 1.52 viewers (million)

Too bad the demo dropped. Last time they had 1.52 million viewers at the end of Nov. the demo was 0.6 and earlier this month they managed a 0.6 demo with 1.48 million viewers.
I think the best thing people can do is continue to post and talk positively about the show on sites like TVLine, etc. watch on the CW site and Hulu (or the equivalent network /legit site in their country), and buy that season pass or individual episode on iTunes. I know people who won't bother to watch a show if they think it is going to be cancelled or will give up before they become to invested which sort of becomes self-fulfilling.
Earlier in the day the CW released this:
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST also grew week to week, rising 11% in total viewers (1.56M) and 50% in both A18-34 and W18-34.
In Live + 7 Day ratings this season, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES has averaged a 41% increase in total viewers compared to L+SD, a 48% increase in A18-34 and a 52% jump in W18-34. BEAUTY AND THE BEAST sees a 32% gain in total viewers with DVR viewing, a 39% lift in A18-34 and a 43% bump in W18-34.

gosh, that was interesting when someone from twitter was asking one of the writers people whether they thought they had enough promotion from cw lol...they thought they really did :/
But then again, I guess they have to be nice to cw...they don't want to complain because they decide their fate!
But how is this rating? Writers tweeted that it was up by 20%, but we know part of the reason why people didn't tune in last week was because of valentines day...so technically how much improved is the ratings?
I hope this 3 week break won't affect ratings for when it comes back :/

It should be noted that when the writers Tweeted the episode was up it was before the final numbers... we adjusted down in final numbers. Someone asked how we could adjust down. That's sort of complicated so I'll simplify it -- The initial numbers don't include all the markets. Each set of numbers adds more markets. Unfortunately, it looks like the West Coast is not feeling BATB as much as the East Coast. We seem to always drop when they get factored in. It's not only how many people watch BATB. It's how many Nielson viewers had their TVs on and that time and what shows they were watching. This determines shares and all that. It also helps Nielson do the crazy math with figuring out how many people each Nielson viewers counts for in their market. Then how many that would equal in the demo. Basically, a bunch of math and data. If more viewers for other shows get added into the whole and our numbers don't equally increase, we can adjust down. If our numbers increase more, we can adjust up. Hope that makes sense. It's a really convulated and inaccurate system

OMG jacki you are right about the promo.
Who the heck is doing the marketing and advertising for this show?
Once again, a missed opportunity.
Someone should have posted some place just as you said:
THE MOMENT BEASTIES HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR" Just that. That would have told us.
Did they even twitter? I don't follow nobody but I would have heard from my co-workers if there was a kiss coming. Or on here.
They messed it up!!! Big Time.
Out here on the West Coast (at least in Northern Cal)........you are right most people go out Thursday nights. The weekend starts for us Thursday especially if it's nice. We don't have snow. And no rain. Last Thursday was Valentine's and everyone was out. Trying telling a guy you wanna stay in on Valentine's. They would think, you're ill. Fine with them but I am sure they would find it strange. Alot of folks go out in groups too. It doesn't have to be a romantic one on one thing any more.
Anyways, I never watch anything live except the news, sports and award shows.
This past Thursday the weather was really nice out here again. My Beastie co-workers heard NOTHING about a kiss. They thought that "Tough Love" was going to be another disappointment. So they went out. I had a church thing.
Anyways, this is just an example of what can go down in this day and age of social media. They need to promo the show much better. What are they doing in tweeter? How come nobody said anything on FB. If they would have said something on there even those of us who don't follow would have heard. Why didn't they let some of the bloggers or web writer, TV Guide and them leak out the news? No where did I know a kiss was coming.
And now everyone is writing about it after the fact. "FINALLY" is what has been printed. I feel like we the fans are the step children. Everyone else gets what they want on their show and we had to wait WEEKS to get a kiss.
I feel like a jerk!!!

THE MOMENT BEASTIES HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR Right! It's that simple. All of us would've been like "OMG. It's the VinCat kiss!" So they could've let some mystery and you know what - viewers would keep watching FOR that moment and would figure, "It's probably going to come at the end" and not tune out half-way through. I mean at the 30 minute mark weren't they in the club breaking up? Gah, I would've changed to if I wasn't like, "Damn it. Jay Ryan said there was a KISS!!!" Jay tweeted on Twitter to a couple people there'd be a kiss but NO ONE knew if they could believe him. Remember we knew it was between this episode or episode 15 but that's from us piecing together Spoilers like it was the frickin' Da Vinci Code. How hard is to leak to spoiler sites that "This week's episode marks the moment for VinCat that all viewers have been waiting for" - combine that with the TV promos & BOOM! People tune in to see the kiss. Even people that left that are like "This better be good" and still bitter about Alex. It was miserable and rainy in GA where I'm still stuck studying for the Exam. Can't wait to jump on a plane and head up to NY on Sunday!!! Only issue is all my friends are like "I want to see you" and I'm like "I can't" I need to get rest before Tues/Wed exam, not be out partying. ha! As for Valentine's Day, I was inside because of the Bar Exam but everyone I knew was out doing something - EXCEPT - for one friend that was like "Ugh...if I wasn't sick I'd totally come over there to watch BATB with you. BTW, the last episode pissed me off. This show's about to get good again, right?" I told her then that I thought this was the kiss episode and she was like "Good. I'm sick of all this waiting." But Valentine's Day ratings are down each year, so why not promote the kiss for all the single Nielson ladies stuck at home OR so Nielson people back from date night may be like "Hmm, I should check that out on my DVR" I watch a few shows live if I have time. The past few weeks BATB has been the only show I've watched live, most have been next day. It was not widely disseminated. You basically had to be stalking Jay Ryan's Twitter to know...or be like me and have Beastie friends that stalk Jay Ryan's Twitter (haha) and that were debating whether he was joking or not. I think Nina said on her FB page there was a kiss. Can't remember if Austin or writers did... But, again, it's great if Jay says it...for the Beasties on Twitter. The SPOILER sites should've been told they could say something, anything. "The moment..." "Vincent and Cat are about to take it the next level..." "Vincent still wants that kiss and Heather can't be around always." SOMETHING. hahaha, great minds. I literally just said that. BAD MARKETING! I agree that the communication has not always been the best. I feel that certain people, like AB, are pretty good at it. I feel the writers...eh...it depends. Some of them, I'm not sure who exactly talk down to the fans like we're silly little fangirls. I don't appreciate it. I'm telling you that a part of me wants to pull some of my connections so I can get face time with some of these writers out in CA. haha. Did anyone watch Apt 23 this season before it was cancelled? There was an episode where the Chloe character went to People Magazine and took it over. I'd like to take over aspects of the CW from promos to how to deal with fans and even S/Ls they should be persuing. Oh and casting too, I know Mark Pedowitz apparently wants pretty people on CW shows (if that rumor is true and he really said that like TSC fans claim he did)... but I'm kinda getting frustrated that every character on the show is the same age (give or take a few years). And, of course, everyone is ridiculously goodlooking. I wish male lawyers looked as hot as they do on TV IRL. I think I met like one when I was 19. None when I was in law school. I was like, "COME ON!" It was heartbreaking for me, like a dream shattered that I had no man candy to stare at while I was pretending to listen to the lecture. haha. j/k Seriously, I'm under the impression that most Nielson families are lazy and not tech-savvy. This may not be accurate, but there's really no way of knowing since most of them are "urged" to remain confidential while they are in the program. From what people have posted online though there isn't actually a confidential agreement that you need to sign...I'm think Beasties if they were being counted would say something on Twitter. OK think I've vented enough about this silly rating system. There's a kiss next week Milo. Spread the word at work. haha. I'll be in NY in a room with thousands of people....wait.... omg that's prime hunting ground for new viewers. Gonna go bug some people at the end of Day 2. Be like, "Can't wait to relax...catch up on some Beauty and the Beast this underrated show on the CW. It's in repeats right now so prime time to catch up."

They messed up their own ratings big time!
Hey jacki, they need to go get lessons from our other favorite show. Now them folks know how to work themselves thru social media.
I tell you, I came home thinking that there was going to be another disappointment. I went to look at a quick recap and found out about the kiss. And the first thing I thought of was why didn't they say something. You are right. Had they said something, word would have spread and I am sure that the fans who left, would have come back and taken a peak.
There was some talk at work that they might be a kiss at the end. But it was not confirmed. Then a couple of us were saying that they would not do it at the end again. Golly, talk about no originality. Don't get me wrong, I thought the whole thing was HOT!!! But the whole situation has just left me feeling.......I don't know......left out in the cold.
Another thing and I always say this. In this day and age of social media, instant news, 24 hour turn around, tv shows have got to be snappy. You can't keep the fans dangling. They find something else to do. They have something else to do. This is not our grand mamas TV guide any more. We no longer have to watch things when they are on. We watch when WE WANT. We watch what we want, when we want. So they have got to be keen to this and be much more sabby.
Another thing is that the show leads have got to do magazine covers. Let the folks at the grocery and the book stores see ya. And Talk Shows too. They need to go NYC and do a couple of shows. Get more exposure.
