Wow!! hard... but it's true.. the love triangle kill some viewers As if it wasn't obvious . . . Let's be real, here. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out the reason the Alex drama totally backfired and killed off viewers. A majority of us here are women. We HATE the entire "other woman" thing (especially those of us with a little more "life experience"). And it doesn't matter if we were the ones who were the "other woman" or if another woman did that to us while we were in a relationship. Both sides of that situation SUCK! I don't know about you, but I watch this show to have a little happy escape from reality; not that reality is bad - life is just hard sometimes. So I don't want to watch the characters we are invested in hurt each other like that. How many women work on this show? (writers, producers, etc) Seriously, why did they think that this Alex storyline would actually work? Or at least not kill off viewers? An interview some time ago said they wanted to show the characters have real problems like real couples do. Sorry, not in this show. I think people were hooked originally because Cat and Vincent's relationship was supposed to be epic and (I think someone else said this) pure - as in strong enough that nothing could break it. When Alex entered the picture, it was as if the first 9 episodes, and their progress, were flushed down the toilet. Suddenly, Vincent was a total jerk. I don't need to see one of the main characters act like a total jerk; I'll just go out Sat night and it won't take me 5 minutes to find one of those. The story could have had Alex come in and still have Vincent act like, well, epi 1 - 9 Vincent. Viewers would not have been so repulsed and the result would have still been the same. Anyway, that is my take on the ratings drop and my opinion on why it is where it is. What do all of you think?

Well, this news is beyond crappy ... so apparently Nielson is going to re-configure how they rate? .... about time, since social media and the way we view programming has drastically altered over the last decade ... so did we really know about the kiss other than the Austin and Jay tweets ... maybe a bit more substance in the teasing from the production would help ... on the upside, I saw the interview with Nicole Anderson promoted on the home page of yahoo .... it wins most online polls ... also seems that significant online reviewers have bought in. It would be a shame to let this show go without a concentrated effort on behalf of the network to save it. I actually found it by accident while channel surfing for something to watch rather than hockey. I bought into this show .... I may not do it again with another.

Found the show by accident while channel surfing. Never heard of it before that. That always made me wonder - why hadn't I heard of it before?

I agree Julz ... love triangles suck as does massive character destruction ... we loved Vincent for all the qualities that we lost in a couple of episodes ... I can only guess at why they didn't promote it. I watch it on the CW or Showcase in Canada only because I subscribe to a substantial cable package. Global has picked it up but the episodes are behind ... Just hope it is not too late.

Here are this week's fast affiliates which are better than last weeks. Hopefully these # translate to staying at a 0.6 or if initially a 0.5(same as last week) will be adjusted up in the finals. CW – Beauty and the Beast Viewers: 1.60 million (#5), A18-49: 0.6/ 1 (#5) CW – Beauty and the Beast Viewers: 1.52 million (#5), A18-49: 0.5/ 1 (#5) www.tvmediainsights.com/forum/?mingleforumaction=viewtopic&t=3159TVBTN just came in 0.6 with 1.56 million viewers so Yeah!

Anyway, that is my take on the ratings drop and my opinion on why it is where it is. What do all of you think? I hate to blame Twilight, but at least one writer likes Twilight so maybe they thought the love triangle would help the epic romance because it worked for Twilight... Also love triangles have been relatively successful on other shows. But I think this was the wrong show for this. As others said, no one - not even in a reimagining - wants to see the Beast loving anyone but the Beauty.
As for 0.6 - sooo happy. Waiting to see if I can get half hour numbers and get an idea of how likely it is we could possibly adjust up. I really don't want to see an adjustment down! And right now it could go either way. 0.6 is OK and really good for this week where just about every other CW show with the exception of Supernatural & The Vampire Diaries have been down. While it is true that we need 0.7 or higher, 0.6 is moving in the right direction.

BATB ratings are UP from last week YaY! Man, if BATB writers and the CW pimped that VinCat would finally kiss in this episode and did more publicity yesterday, the ratings would have been even higher! It's strange CW usually pimps a kiss every chance it gets. Dunno why they were hiding it. Plus, how come i rarely ever see a BATB trailer airing on tv on the CW - i see lots of Carrie, TVD, Arrow, HOD - need more BATB commercials. tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2013/02/2...r-falls/170422/tvline.com/2013/02/22/ratings-vampi...abc-nbc-rivals/

Also good that W18-34 was 0.9 beating this week's HOD (0.8) and TCD (0.7)

It sure can't hurt Jacki ... a notch higher, positive reviews, trending and a few more networks picking it up will help .... plus the beauty now has her beast .... as it should be ...

What a relief. I can stop crying. I could not believe after such an epic show last night we would hit series low. We are heading in the right direction. Man that was a wake-up call though. Maybe we should have a FollowParty sometime this weekend to get on the same page. I am also going to go to TVDfollowparty and look for people that also like BATB. This close call makes me more determined than ever. A 0.6 never looked sweeter. OK - going to go treat myself to a viewing of a certain scene. anyone have suggestions on other followparties I might invite myself to? Shows or groups that might get an overlap?

While not a 0.7....way better than the 0.4. I will happily take the 0.6 over a 0.4.
Here's to hoping that this weeks gains stimulates conversation that gets more attention that translates into more of a gain when it returns...since the Alex arc is over, and we have some romance, and big drama brewing.
