And let's us know that Cat was a kind and loving big sister who was protective of her little sister even as early as Camp Moose-Pine!
And Cat obsessive over her mother's case gives an excuse to allow Cat to "remember" previous episode revelations.
And she really IS looking for any excuse to go visit Vincent!
(And just where WAS Vincent at that point, anyway? The bat scene shows just how much JT needs a self-defense class! "Of course, it's you!" LOVE THAT! Even JT knew Cat would be back!)

I like Cat and Evan's ribbing, quite frankly. And how the boys and girls of the police force notice everything about one another, including Joe picking up on Tess' earrings.
And here is the first Victoria of the series. (Hate when I don't like characters that are walking around with my name!)

Would love to know what others think about the case and how it is worked into the episode.
(Although again, I LOVE seeing Tess, Joe, Evan and Cat all working together.)
AH, ROOFTOP SCENE, even if it is not yet OUR particular rooftop at Cat's!

Okay, is creepy the way Vincent frightens Cat, but I don't see how else he could have approached Cat without getting her to yell out.
Oh Vincent, you do know more than you are telling her, even if you, yourself don't yet know it (arguably).
And Vincent getting involved with a case in order to distract Cat!! And they just naturally segue into being able to work together. Again, LOVE THAT!
(Yes, I admit that I would have liked it if they HAD found a way to have Vincent join the precinct officially, which I believe was an initial possibility when they re-imagined the series.)

Liking the precinct scenes and seeing Cat and company work a case. I just wish that they didn't have to try so hard to make the case give some "revelation" to VinCat. Put them in a real box to do this every episode. I mean, many loved Castle and Bones for the leads working the cases together, and said cases DID NOT have to relate directly to the episode. To me, this is where BATB created its first major writing error.
And is that another "Timeless" guy? Didn't the guy that played the rapist appear on "Timeless" in a minor role, or is that my imagination?

Evan admitting he wants to impress Cat and that love triangles "never work out, do they?" Truer words never spoken in BATB-land.
LOVE LOVE LOVE how Cat arrives at warehouse and waits by car for Vincent to come to HER!!!
This warehouse scene is a personal FAVE of mine. Vincent can tell Cat lying as early as here! And Cat telling Vincent that she used to be a normal person.
And I love how Cat gets personal with Vincent, encouraging him to do the same and open up to her. And how he does. Jay really plays this scene SO perfectly, playing the almost shy boy. And Cat commenting on his hair!

Ah. JT's scene to come between VinCat--you said she wouldn't come back here. Yeah, right, JT. You will never come between those two. And you soon won't even want to!

And Cat showing her ignorance in thinking that one could just "open a case" on Muirfield. But does show how Cat is willing and wants to work with Vincent from the get-go.
Oh Cat, don't take the photo. Don't do it. Oh, there she goes. How did she EVER think that would go over well with Vincent?

Hey, Vincent's hair in the photo is like his character in "Mary Kills People."
And did Tess "break her diet" with Joe at this rate? Hmmm.

Run Cat, Run!! I love the physicality of both Tess and Cat here. They are cops that work hard for the money!

Another VINCAT SCENE!!
Even their arguments are HOT! And both Vincent and Cat have valid points here. And Vincent loses it here, but Cat doesn't run off here. Important difference from the Pilot. Cat now TRUSTS Vincent to reign it in somehow. She doesn't flinch, just waits for Vincent to calm himself, which she trusts him to do. So this is VINCAT PROGRESS. Both Vincent and Catherine airing out their differences to one another, no matter how tense the argument becomes. SHOWS how the two are actually determined to continue with the relationship without lies or misunderstandings between them.

And Cat wanting so badly to make things right with Vincent that she leaves the case, after an important discovery, in order to go to the warehouse.
And the way JT pretends to be nice and at ease with Cat showing up. Should have been a clue to Cat right there that Vincent WOULD cut her off, if necessary, if she endangered them.
JT plays this scene well. (Still wonder where Vincent was during this little spat.)

And Victoria protecting the rapist, even knowing (or suspecting) that he killed her friend. Victoria's really aren't great people on this series, sadly.
And Cat isolating herself not just from Vincent but from her own sister as well due to her obsessiveness. And having to realize that she has to leave others open to making their own decisions. And NOT force their hands.
So this episode shows growth for Cat, ultimately. And Vincent's willingness to meet her part-way, because he doesn't want to lose her.

Is the mugger really Muirfield agent? Did we ever find out?
And I LOVE that Vincent is still secretly following Cat, KNOWING that her taking the picture WOULD have consequences (as this guy probably IS Muirfield).
And LOVE how Cat calms Vincent with simply a word to letting him know that she is all right.

I do love this scene of Vincent protecting Cat, even when furious with her. IS SO DIFFERENT from "Ancestors," when Vincent willingly turns his back on Cat at the embassy and leaves her there due to being mad. Sigh. Don't get me started on "Ancestors."
And Evan ALSO protecting Cat, no matter what. Evan knows Cat didn't do the damage to the perp. But that Cat has reasons for keeping it secret.
Going too far no matter who gets hurt. . . .Cat DOES get the message from the case. And makes it up to Vincent AND her sister.
