JUNE 2nd!!!!! Wow, we will be on THURSDAY nights. This is normally such a competitive night in the US. Hopefully, the BLacklist will have had their season finale in May!

Well, if they do things like they did them in the past, then Showcase will air the show AGAIN on Sunday, which will be 29 May for Canada.

Well, if they do things like they did them in the past, then Showcase will air the show AGAIN on Sunday, which will be 29 May for Canada. Showcase has not announced their air times yet. Ratings don't matter anymore. But I still contend that airing in Canada early hurts the US viewership. Most beasties can't wait and will watch the pirated versions which are ripped off as soon as Showcase airs. This can indirectly hurt the US live viewing and streaming from the CW's website. In my case, I refuse to support the pirates and will only watch it live when it airs on the CW, but I know I'm in the minority. What's worst is that it's very difficult to remain spoiler free in between the days when Canada airs and the US airs. So I really hope that Showcase does NOT air again on Sundays. It should be on the same day, as it was during S1.

You are right, of course, BeastieBoy about the ripping off. If I lived in the US I MIGHT wait the 4 days (or not), but over here in Europe and other continents, we practically have no other choice. Addicts will do anything to get their fix. Sorry.

I had entirely forgotten about the Showcase problem. Sigh. See what the hiatus does to you?
Like BeastieBoy, I watch live. But I FREELY admit to being amongst the absolute last, at least in the US, to see the episodes, due to waiting for the US airdate. So I also contend that the early airing REALLY hurts us AND could explain a lot of the Season 3 problem as well, since it aired so many days before.
And Showcase has always seemed to go for that Sunday airing, for whatever reason. Darn and double drats. I REALLY WISH that the episodes could air SIMULTANEOUSLY, as this would give Beasties reasons to watch, tweet, and text at or near the airings across the boards. Which would allow us to "trend" again.
I guess there is no use pouting about what I cannot control. But I really hope that Showcase doesn't air in Canada so early OR AT ALL before the US. I would REALLY like to see how we fair if we aired FIRST.
And BeastieBoy, the ratings MIGHT matter if they actually went up. I know, I know. Most likely, really wishful thinking on my part. But I would like our little show to AT LEAST have the possible advantage. Because what has been cancelled can be uncancelled, at least if viewership changed. Or pilots and whatnot didn't pan through for the CW, etc.
I ONLY give up hope when it is truly over and done.

I don't know how to call my willpower when it comes to BATB:)))))))) Like always , you are the best Twitter sleuth.

Realistically, the ratings would have to go up to The Flash or Arrow levels for the CW to reconsider; that's just not going to happen. Especially as we all know the CW will give ZERO promotion to the show. But where the ratings might help is with some of the campaigns for other outlets such as Netflix or Hulu to pick up the show. Still, the ratings would have to jump a lot to matter. I doubt that moving back to a solid .3, or even a .4, will make a difference. However, I'd still be willing to bet that if Showcase airs after the CW that our ratings improve compared to S3.

I plan to keep trying to push the fat lady off the stage and stop that singing. I will go down with this ship, as DIDO says. It is only truly over for me when the last episodes have aired, and no one has picked up the show. Maybe not even then. . . . Denial ain't just a river in Egypt!

LOL alwayscrazedbatbfan - I had to do some research about this 'river in Egypt'. As a German who was taught Oxford English, this expression was new and I had to put on my 'American thinking and talking' hat on. Thank you for teaching me something new today. Oh, and I will help you push the fat lady off the stage. Let's call Greenpeace and tell them they need to drag a whale back into the ocean.

I still think there is so much more that BATB could give a viewing audience, if handled correctly. That is why I still remain optimistic, especially if Season 4 actually DID bring forth the elements that Beasties have loved in the past. The PCA win shows that BATB still has a strong AND CERTAINLY PASSIONATE fanbase.
BATB could have worked as a summer show, had it been better handled. But what we got was Season 3.
The whole way Season 3 was handled all the way around is what really killed BATB. First, the lack of VinCat closeness and interaction was at the root of why so many Beasties didn't like Season 3. (Say what you will about Season 2, as we ALL had problems with it, at least there were some episodes and moments that pretty much all Beasties loved. Season 3 entirely lacked any of those moments after the first 5 minutes of the season and the last 2 minutes of the season.)
Secondly, since the fans in the US and Canada were so disappointed in Season 3, the international audience just wasn't there this time, especially since oftentimes the airing date was SO far beyond the original Showcase airing, that many didn't even know it was coming on in their country. You saw that from many posts on this board. So it completely eroded the international audience, which was what had ultimately made BATB profitable.
And as others note, expenses for a television show only go up from season to season.
But if Season 4 IS better quality and more like what Beasties love, then ratings COULD go up. Or other means (such as social media, trending and the like) would show that BATB has more consumers then what shows up in Nielsens. That could then make it attractive to some other channel or forum, especially in a limited-episode style format.
Realistically speaking, shows don't get uncancelled generally. But it is NOT unheard of. And networks HAVE changed their minds. At this rate, though, I seriously doubt the CW would do so. Their successes have been from comic book shows. When they tried to make BATB look like a comic book show (Season 3 seemed to be their attempt to turn BATB into something similar to that format), it failed horribly.
But other networks are trying to get out their own programming or get involved in "rebranding," so there are still possibilities, particularly if Season 4 did well amongst Beasties. I mean, Beasties have shown a willingness to still love the show despite the bad episodes and follow it no matter what night and time it aired on.
So I remain committed to the idea that it is NOT over until it has been buried and dead for a year or more. Hope springs eternal. Fat ladies SHALL be silenced and forbidden to sing, and Greenpeace called, as BBATB suggests!!

I will be happy to be proven wrong, but I predict the first half of S4 will be much like S3. By the time beasties started grumbling loudly on social media about S3, close to half of the S4 episodes were already filmed. Any chance for adjustments to S4 based on fan feedback on S3 could come in the latter half of the S4 season, but that's too little too late.
S3 was a pivotal make or break season for BATB, but unfortunately they had their chance and blew it. So whatever S4 brings, I will just sit back and enjoy it for what it is, with no preset expectations or any hope for another season. But that's just me.

BeastieBoy:
Supposedly, there were Season 4 re-writes. Again, I am uncertain how reliable that information could be. But I would hope in my heart that it was to make sure S4 doesn't repeat S3 mistakes. Then again, Brad Kern is still at the helm, so only so much help would be possible. Sigh. But that probably IS the best attitude to have in order to try to avoid disappointment.
I will hope to enjoy what I see on my screen. And DEFINITELY hope for loads of VinCat meaningful scenes. And that doesn't necessarily just mean lovey-dovey scenes. I like high-quality VinCat scenes that show their love, trust and emotional growth together. If I get that, I won't be disappointed, regardless of re-played and re-hashed storylines, which sadly seems to be Kern's mode of operation. But I will say, Kristin and Jay ALWAYS make the most out of what they are given, so I have faith in that. (So I guess that makes me more optimistic in my hopes for Season 4 then the other way around! I would find it hard to think that Kern could make S4 worse for me than S3.)
