Despite its soft linear ratings — Season 3 averaged a 0.2 in 18-49 Live+same day, down from Season 2 — Beauty And The Beast has done well online and has been a solid international seller for its studio, CW sibling CBS TV Studios. Plus, Beauty And The Beast, a remake of the 1987 series, had been a sentimental favorite of CW boss Mark Pedowitz as it was one of the very first concepts he pursued after taking the reins of the network in 2011.
Many fans knew this could very well be the case when they made the announcement of a Season 3 and Season 4 order at the same time. Sad but not completely unexpected.
Here's to hoping the final season is a great one!
Exactly this! It was already an unexpected surprise when we got season 4 and we as a fandom can be proud of what we have achieved in fighting for our show - keeping BATB alive against all rating-odds for such a long time!
As a reward we still can look forward to another season next summer, one that will hopefully please more Beasties than season 3. And it’s good the CW announced it this early, now the writers/producers can work towards a satisfying ending.
And we can all say thank you to our cast and crew by winning a PCA for them one more time!
