Suzieq - your list is funny. I was thinking a few days ago that someone should have started a thread to list all the things that Catherine has sacrificed/risked for Vincent. Then it could be contrast with what Vincent has done for or said to her good and bad. Seems a little one sided at the moment. Catherine protects people. Its what she does and her Dr. said as much. But Vincent is definitely taking her for granted. She could probably use a little support. She is constantly put in tuff situation because of him and if he understands her like she says he does than why can't he realize that she needs him. So frustrating. They are suppose to be protecting each other and Jt called it. It not about protecting her physically but he needs to be there for her emotionally. I mean she let him go off with the ex because she didn't want him to have to lie to her too. He's definitely too selfish right now.

We all saw so much hurt with Cat. 1. When she found the letters and found out Vincent and Alex were engaged. 2. When she saw Vincent and Alex kiss. 3. When she talked with Vincent on the balcony and asked him if he still loved Alex and he looked away. 4. When she found out that Vincent and Alex were on a date and he was almost arrested. 5. When Cat pours her heart out to Vincent and he doesn't reciprocate and tells her that Alex will go away with him. 6. When Cat hears that Alex and Vincent were planning to go away for a romantic weekend. 7. When Cat finds the lingerie bag on the bed. 8. The finale scene and the conversation with Vincent. Catherine face shows so much hurt. Frankly,.........seeing Cat's eyes show so much pain and hurt,....well it is just too much! Seriously......how much more is Cat suppose to take? And Kristin has done an AH-MAZING job expressing hurt in all those scenes... so intense! But seriously, looking over this list just makes me so sad for Cat... I rewatched the episode earlier and I just felt so bad for her at the end after she spoke with Vincent!

I agree with you evanarose. Vincent will have to do and say something extraordinary to win Cat back - maybe say something like "I love YOU" LOL Ok maybe that's too soon for a declaration of such magnitude. He needs to let go of the past like he said in 1xo8 and confront the depth of his feelings for Cat. I get the sense that sometimes he treats her like a BFF and not like the woman he loves. It's like it hasn't sunk in how much he messed up and he doesn't know how hurt Catherine is with everything that took place in the last 3 episodes. You can't just fix that with roses and dinner. I'm positive the writers are going to fix this mess and bring us back the Vincent we've come to love. Maybe this will happen in 1x13: Alex decides she wants Vincent after all, Vincent rejects Alex and shows us Cat is his first choice. He tells Alex he loves Cat, not her anymore. Bye bye Alex.

Adios Amigo Alex! lol Yeah saying ' I love you.' Wow...that's big, but as you say maybe too soon for a declaration with such magnitude. And I'm definitely getting the BFF vibe! Maybe saying something similar that erases the BFF vibe... "I want to be with you." "I had feelings for you for awhile now too, maybe we should try a relationship/go the next step." "I like you...alot!" LOL, I dunno that's from the top of my head. I know you guys can think of better quotes! But I can't see how Cat can be proved in another way, that is as effective as Cat seeing Vincent reject Alex, telling the truth about the 'handler' and there's more b/t them I think since Cat has trouble trusting him, she'd have trouble believing him otherwise Either that or Alex tells Cat how Vincent told her the truth. Another option could be having Vincent and Cat at that almost Kiss and Alex walks in

Watched the episode again and have to say I love Cat's relationship with Tess and her sister. All those scenes were so fun to watch. Vincent is definitely in the dog house with me but hopefully in the next couple episodes he will make it up to us. I understand everyone's disappointment in how the writing has beenlately for this "epic love story," but I have to say at the end when he said it wasn't about running away with Alex, it was about missing his old life and the comment about if he did go away with Alex he knew he wouldn't be happy actually made me fall for him again. I think Cat was always number one in his heart but he just had a moment of missing his old self. YES the writing could of been better and he didnt have to come off like a dick but the end scene did make me feel a little better. What will make me feel even better is when he discusses his love for Cat to ALEX....that conversation better happen or I wont be satisfied.

I just saw the episode tonite and thought that it was all so cheesy.
The acting was great. The writing was not.
The whole storyline with the Alex these past few weeks was lame.
I think that if they were going to bring Alex back there should have been a better reason behind it. As much as I hate saying this, Alex should have been done as a story arc. They find each other and maybe Vincent should have ran off with Alex and not told JT or Catherine. They would be going crazy looking for him Then Murfield and his gang would come gunning for him. Vincent would turn into the beast. Alex would be frighten and he would realize that it was all a big mistake. Of course this would have had to be played out in a whole entire season which we don't want. But I am just saying that it all just went by so fast. There was no real development. I don't know. The whole thing just didn't have any excitement. No twist. No surprises. It was so predicable. And then boom! Vincent realizes that he has made a big mistake and wants Catherine back. It just seem so forced.
I think the writer could have done a better job. If they are going to bring in Vincent's ex-fiancee, they should have given us a real story behind it.
And let me be clear, I am NOT interested in Alex and Vincent. I am just saying that they brought her in for no good reason. Unless there is more.

Here's my problem. Even set aside the shipper stuff....just think of Cat and Vincent as two people who care about each other. I'm still not over the hospital rescue - Alex's first ep. Vincent didn't seem to notice or care that Cat got shot at (after just getting shot!) and fell down, badly hurt. He left her lying there. I know there was danger and Alex and beast and blah blah, but this WHOLE Vincent personality detour is so unlike him! I know! Wasn't it odd that the only one who seemed concerned about her well-being was Evan? (Tess too, but I'm speaking of characters with a medical background.) I can understand needing to sort things out with Alex. I was never mad that he needed to sort that out! But one reason people fell in love with this show was that Vincent was an absolute sweetheart and that he would never hurt Catherine and he was always so sensitive to her! If it was truly, I was crummy to this girl in the past and I'm going to apologize and give us both closure - yeah, I agree, that wouldn't have been so bad. As for being an absolute sweetheart, I never saw Vincent as being that perfect, but like you said, he seemed to have a soft spot for Catherine and he seemed like someone who wouldn't throw his loved ones under a bus. True. He pushed Cat away time & again, but that was because he didn't want her to have to give up so much for him & sacrifice her life like JT did his. That was all selflessness. The writers turned Vincent's character into a selfish jerk these past few episodes. I think that's what was so confusing because he shouldn't have found it so easy to hurt Cat's feelings. So, I wasn't able to grasp how he's leaving her laying there hurt, putting her at risk, thinking selfishly, basically rejecting her and trying to get her blessing as he goes away with Alex. What is he waiting for--Catherine to break down sobbing in front of him? Would that make the hint a little more clear for him? I don't know! In episode 10 he said he wanted her to fight for him. In episode 11 she says she would but he rejects her. So she moves on and then he's like, "Wait. Why aren't you fighting for me?" it made no sense! I just don't get him. He was SO sweet and so sensitive with Cat and then all the sudden, after winter break, he was like the most typical guy of all typical guys. Just clueless! Sorry, that comment is sexist. I just mean in the sense that sometimes, SOME guys just don't GET it. I guess he started to realize some of this and that's why he said he was an ass and why he said he will do whatever it takes to fix this. I don't think it was sexist. I think Vincent really wasn't thinking and truly didn't get it. Call me crazy but I don't want flowers and kisses. I want him to figure his crap out and explain to her how it was his crap and that she got caught in the crossfire, and now he's going to prove to her what she means to his life. Forget this--you're the right one for my future crap---it's way too early for that! So much this! I need to see actions AND hear words. This set them way back! If they were at level zero when they met up in the pilot, then now they're at like -100. I hope this made any sense. I was willing to give Vincent every chance, truly, but he has been 1000% selfish and self-centered. You made total sense! Thanks for such a great post.

^ I totally agree with the hurt list! And about how Vincent isn't able to accept himself and doesn't feel worthy. And then Alex was there, I mean sorry, but she was just simply throwing herself at him, full out. Yet, what is Cat, chopped liver, when she said she accepts all of him? That she wants to be with him? Here's my problem. Even set aside the shipper stuff....just think of Cat and Vincent as two people who care about each other. I'm still not over the hospital rescue - Alex's first ep. Vincent didn't seem to notice or care that Cat got shot at (after just getting shot!) and fell down, badly hurt. He left her lying there. I just mean in the sense that sometimes, SOME guys just don't GET it. . The problem is with the writing as some have mentioned.
They should have gradually shown this side of Vincent once Alex showed up. Of course I am afraid they would have needed the whole season to do this. They needed to DEVELOP this storyline. Instead everything is rushed.
I am glad that Catherine didn't rush into Vincent's arm when he told her that she is the one. Yeah, now that Alex doesn't want you. Yeah, right. At least she went out with her gals.
OMG!!!
"Don't Go Breaking My Heart" sung by Elton John and Kiki Dee
I was a kid. I think it came out in the summer of something. I think I was at a kid b-day party and jumping around to that song. Wait let me find it on my computer.
Vincent go get "You're The One That I Want" sung by John Travolta and Olivia Newton John. Go play it by Catherine's window.

I think the writers did catch us unawares and surprise us - Vincent reacting like we never expected, Cat's confession that she loved Vincent, Claire working for Muirfield to name but a few. We may not have liked some of them, but it certainly gave us DRAMA. Lets hope that in the next few episodes, all these threads will be neatly tied together to make some great tv viewing.

Okay I admit I like this episode better then the last two...mainly cause there was a lot more Catherine/Vincent scenes...I know that in this board there are a lot of you that react from what they see basically as a first reaction which I've done myself in numerous times...BUT there might be more to the picture to as why Vincent reacted the way he did with Catherine...
To have a relationship you have to have trust and honesty..I mean relationship that's start as friends then become more...
Vincent saw Catherine as someone to protect...he's been protecting her for many years..I think this in part to the fact that even though his memory of Catherine's mother being his creator was eluding him he felt guilty that this woman was killed leaving behind a daughter which the beast protected...AS time went by Catherine was like an escape to him....the LIFE he couldn't have...He saw her birthday parties and knew her taste in MEN...Once he met her SHE gave him the little hope of light to be able to live a semi normal life now ..All this time as friends and her protector...Maybe Vincent didn't think she would want to go further with him in a relationship?...But either way what they had until Saturn Returns to me was just a great friendship...Things changed when he got jealous of Evan but why? Was it cause he was going to lose his best friend? Or did he begin to have stronger feelings for her?
Vincent I think at the point of losing her in BRIDESMAID UP realized that Catherine meant more to him...Now does he love her? I think he does...He just doesn't realize it yet...You say how can a person not know that they are in LOVE? Well, for a person who has been alone for 10 years, lost everything, and hasn't known anyone else other then JT that is something far out in his mind. ..He doesn't understand the feelings he has and that in fact it isn't just her protection, her friend but that in fact he's in LOVE with her.
As Catherine realized this in SEEING RED, I believe there come a point in TRUST NO ONE that will hit him with it...
My point is..It sucks that he hurt her but he truly doesn't realize how much cause he doesn't really know her true feelings for him...He on the other hand is as blind as a bat for not seeing that he's been in love with her since he saved her in the woods TEN years ago.
Also the part in On Thin Ice when Vincent asked her if she would be willing to go with him..I saw not as a question but more like begging..YES Cause in his eyes I saw come with me instead(don't know if that was my shipper eyes seeing but that's how I saw that part)
And Catherine of course didn't help pushing him away so he can figure out if he still had feelings for Alex...WHY push someone away if you want a relationship with them??This confused him even more..I'm not condoning what he did to her and how he ripped her heart out I'm just saying that HE is totally blinded by the fact that he can't phantom that she could possibly want a relationship with him.
The fact that HE bickered by the tree (my favorite part of the ep) tells me that he thought Catherine truly wasn't accepting his beast side..I think he realized that she did not by her words but by her actions the scene after...He Beast out..she stayed calm and collective until he transformed again NEXT to him with NO FEAR in her face.
Bottom line here is that Vincent has to accept his fate first ...
1. He can't go back to the past 2. He is still HUMAN in-spite of the fact that he turns to a beast He needs to let go to move forward
Also I loved the parallel in reference to the woods ...Catherine saw him first as a BEAST in the woods..and ALEX sees him as the BEAST in the woods too..Catherine accepting him from that first time...to Alex freaking out and abandoning him.
Many have heard the phrase..."Love is never having to say your sorry." He'll grovel and ask for forgiveness but her heart as already spoken sorry.
