hi beasties! after seeing 1x10 i can't help but be super emotional, i feel for cat poor thing - i was watching the episode in the office(and almost on the verge of tears when Cat saw V's pics and letter to Alex) because i can't wait to go home and watch it online HAHAHAH!! some things to ponder: 1. does anybody noticed in the promo pics of "Seeing Red" V got a scar on his forehead??? wonder what happened to it, when the episode aired it's already gone.... that was weird O.O 2. and the "playlist" convo between JT and V in "Proceed with Caution" where JT said: "You know what happened last time you were busy making playlists." is he talking about Alex? not really loving what's happening with VinCat right now but I'm a patient fan, honestly i love the angsty side of it.

I loved the scene where cat gives a vin the cup and he makes a face that does not know ... I think the redhead sees the romance (a woman knows) ..

Enjoyed reading everyone's thoughts on this episode. I haven't got around to watching the episode again, but I will sometime today. I'm not as emotional as I was last night...but I still hate this episode and agree with others that the writers totally dropped the ball here and this episode was poorly written. From Vincent's OOC behavior with the lying and in general being a jackass, the whiny and crazy Ex, JT being an ass to Catherine in the phone conversation..etc.. Nothing could be worse however than the tarnishing of Vincent's character which I'm very disappointed in. I'm now interested in seeing how the writers make amends in the next couple of episodes. Next week's eppy could possibly be worse with Vincent being in "fantasy land" as Jay said in his interview...good grief!! And the TV fanatic review of this episode was spot on IMO. The only thing I disagreed with is she felt that Alex/Cat were similar...UH, hell no. Catherine is no psychopath like Alex is and she's definitely not needy or clingy either. Not sure what the writer saw to make that comparison...because it's way off. www.tvfanatic.com/2013/01/beauty-and-the-beast-review-seeing-red/comments-2.html

i am hopping they are from vincent too and that is what prompts tess to say that they are young women that shouldnt be waisting their youth on unavailable guys! but i think is more logical if it is from her dad or evan!

No one thing is sure..Vincent is a REAL JERK in these episodes there is NOTHING that could sugar coat what he is doing..No blackouts, loss of memory, NOTHING, it's all HIM..well the writers who wrote HIM that way.

yeah i know i just wished that the writers would have been a little more metaphorical in the way they presented this side of vincent, not so bad, not so liberal not so direct!

I'm guessing they wanted for viewers and Catherine to doubt his do good persona he's been living up to..BUT boy they went way to far out of character for him...which <edited>ed things up for many fans.

First of all asalb - Don't apologize for your long post. I love it. This is why I love forums. I like long discussions with limitless amount of characters. That Twitter mess is for the birds.
southrnbygrace - I am not as excited as you about this episode.
BUT
It wasn't bad! For me at least.
Maybe it's because I read spoilers on future episodes. I read the interview with Jay and went "WOW". So I know that things are going to change. Yippee!!!
So this Alex thing is like "WHATEVER!!!" for me.
Having said this. I thought "Seeing Red" showed me a different side to Vincent. He is so contradicting I thought. At least he was willing to brush it off. Hide from Alex. But then when Cat say, "No, Vincent I am not misreading her." Then things turn sour.
It was almost like he was trying to play both gals from the middle. And it's always, 'Hey look I am the victim. I am the bad boy. I am the beast.'
I think he should have kept some things from Alex as he did but not lied to Cat. That was his first mistake.
Then at the end. He should have told Cat about the engagement and reassured her that......."It's about US!!"
At the end what I didn't like was that Vincent blamed Cat for not moving their relationship forward. He had the nerve. I say that they are BOTH wanting and reluctant at the same time about their relationship. Vincent was the one who told Cat to go on to her B-day party when she said she could have "one foot in both worlds". And he was the one who left the wedding when Cat told him about the DNA findings. It's not as if he is just willing to be in this relationship so easily. He too has had his doubts. He too has said that life in hiding is not easy. So why blame Cat for everything.
Vincent is a victim and a beast. Catherine may not remember how to be close with somebody. But guess what folks, just like my other favorite show....... down the line Catherine and Vincent are going to realize that they belong to no one else but each other and that this relationship as usual as it may be, they are in it TOGETHER!

What I liked about this episode is that it showed more background or more layers to characters. Evan was a big one. We get a little insight that being a medical examiner was not his first choice and is a skilled doctor. Eventually we will see more of his background unfold. We see more depth with his feelings with Catherine than before. I like how he is more than just a pretty face with a hot British accent. In the last scene with JT and Vincent, I think JT had more to say after Vincent said it felt good when he saved Alex. I think they both had more to say but just ended the conversation at that. Probably not a conversation they were going to take at the moment. I loved the little scene with Catherine and Heather. I thought a little humor with the whole who exactly was holding who up. Plus the little Meridith Grey line. ( I am a fan of Greys anatomy ). More insight of how Tess and Joe's relationship is. I think Tess was more guilty with what happened to Catherine because she was getting drunk with Joe around the same time. I like the best friend/partner relationship. I know I'm not going to change hearts and minds and I can see lots of people are angry but I LOVED this episode. It was the first episode where it didn't feel like we were being yanked from Cat's world back to Vincents world through out the episode. The case of the week with Alex fit in seamlessly. Every character got great development. Tess, Evan, Heather, Vincent, Cat. We learned stuff about all of them. And Evan exploded on to the screen and out of the shallow player box. Whoa where did this guy come from! The action was none stop. It was a roller coaster ride from the beginning and you started to see the frame work of where all this is going. I agree, we saw some development with each character especially Evan. This was his episode I think. He really stood out in this one. When I watched it the second time, that is what I was thinking. Alex initiated that kiss. He must have been shocked and didn't pull away right away. I know the fact that there was a kiss between them especially after Alex had just found out about him. It is not an impossible scenario that could happen in real life. She thought he was dead, she lost him and now he alive then thought she lost him again. So instinct of just having that person there in front of you, the person you never stopped loving. When I first read this and then watched the episode a second time, it really got me thinking. I agree with this. Alex is like opposite of how Catherine is. She is needy and clingy. Once she knew Vincent is alive and seeing from the promo and this episode, she dove head first to reconnecting or rekindling the relationship she and Vincent had. ( When I first heard her call Vincent, Vince. I seriously cringed. That will take some getting use to for awhile.) Yes she knows Vincent is in hiding but her will to have him in her life again is stronger. Catherine is strong and independent because the night her mother died. She doesn't want to be vulnerable and be easily hurt. Plus trust issues. Those are her walls/barriers that prevent her to just throw herself into a relationship with Vincent. They both do actually. They both have doubts with moving their relationship forward. We see that throughout the show but they tried in some ways to move forward. But they both have baggage that can't be carried around if they are together. This too. One of the main reasons why Vincent beasts out is the rush of adrenaline and would be not under control. With Catherine, he was worried about her. The more worry, more of what he felt he wasn't able to changer back. He couldn't calm down. With Alex, obviously his adrenaline was controllable. Exactly. I didn't like how he called her his handler. I know he is in hiding and can't really tell Alex but handler was the best he could come up with? Hmm I guess I can see why he lied to Alex about Catherine. But still, Catherine's face when they mentioned her as a handler. I will add more, but right now I need some sleep. I got class tomorrow.
