It's just me or Alex doesn't sound like she cares about Vincent at all?
The guy comes back to her life 10 years later, telling her that he's in danger and someone wants to kill him and she doesn't even ask what's going on.
All she cares about is having her fiancé back. She doesn't even care if he's comfortable with her or not, always throwing herself at his arms without being invited.
For someone that claims to be hopelessly in love for 10 years for a dead guy that sounds incredibly shallow.

Very small detail: Why would a woman of sane mind have pictures and letters of an EX who supposedly has been dead for over 9 years in a closet? I don't mean stashed away, I mean out in the open as though she still obsesses over it? My opinion well I have two: 1. Either shes Merfield and it is a way to get Vincent to think she still loves him and hasn't moved on or 2. She is a crazy obsessed lunatic? I think there is SOMETHING about her that hasn't been revealed yet. So maybe it will be easy for Vincent to get his head out of his arse and see what a BIG mistake he did. I know! I think in off screen land, writers probably want the audience to assume, she had the box in the closet but since, having seen him, she put it out in the open again- checking out old memories, etc.. Why did nobody kick cats butt for escaping hospital!?! Like seriously after saving her life, Alex brings her to her home for a cup of coffee lol?! When actually she isn't discharged from the hospital yet..what the? I expected Vincent to tell her...but maybe the writers figured we heard this type of dialogue so many times and cats stubborn...so maybe they thought the audience want Vincent to trust Cat stand on her two feet more, so to speak.. But still I was kinda hoping he'd care abit more...like actually take care of the dressing, even though she said 'no'. It was so obvious she needed it. Obviously, he can't force her but at least 2nd guess it. She let Evan do it! I'm not sure what to think at the end, when Vincent told them to seperate either...She was struggling Maybe he thought there was no use arguing and it was a loosing battle... I know he needed her help, but I thought he would have insisted doing it himself like he has...

I agree with all of you - that wasn't a good episode =/
I didn't like weak Catherine, I know she is injured but that doesn't mean she can't call out Vincent on his crappy behaviour... and what was with that stupid plan of using Alex as a bait? I can't believe Cat would go for that, knowing she is injured and Vincent could expose himself. why didn't she give this case over to other cops? also she must be temporarily off-duty because she is sick? how do they cover up this dead guy in the hospital basement?
don't get me started on Vincent....
loved the very first scene, Evan and Heather were great. Vincent and Cat in the hospital was ok too though I have to admit I expected it to be a bit more emotional? I mean hello, Cat almost died. I could've lived without the rest.

I saw on Twitter someone was saying Vincent this episode had too much snark. And I wanted to be like, "Whoa, whoa. I think the actual word you're looking for is jerk. Don't be hating on snark." haha LOL! Love the snark! Can I just say that your signature with him taking her into the room... *sigh* I know that annoyed some people with how pushy he was, but I love watching it in your signature. Plus Cat has this "WTH?" face which is funny. OMG Jackie, you are too funny, LOL. ITA with everything you just said. TY! I have some (hopefully) just as hilarious posts on Tumblr...well, shortly. The first is queued to go out at 9am EST. They are reactionary posts to Seeing Red, naturally. Based on the spoilers we got for the Valentine’s Day episode, it does seem Vincent will be doing some major groveling in this episode.
Well-deserved if you ask me, as karma always has a funny way of catching up with you. Yeah, I want to see him grovel and beg for her. It's about damn time. Telling a girl that the reason you aren't together is because of her? Ummm, so not romantic. Not saying Cat isn't guarded, but so is Vincent...well, was Vincent...lately he's just prancing around in the open like it's nothing. The idiot. Jacki, your snark was much needed tonight after this painful episode. And I totally agree with all your thoughts. Thanks for bringing it tonight, it makes me feel a lot better and I can go to bed soon feeling slightly less pissed off!!! And your tumblr rocks!!! Hilarious. I'm happy that the snark & ranting is helping others. And it was interesting to see how active in social media BATB was tonight. I had @ tweets coming from people I had never spoken to before. I have a lot more Tumblr viewers now. It was awesome to see how many people were ready to talk about BATB. Still not a Twitter fan though. Don't get how you people do it. The character limit - blech. I do love Tumblr though. Very small detail: Why would a woman of sane mind have pictures and letters of an EX who supposedly has been dead for over 9 years in a closet? Yolanda, I'm hoping she's Muirfield. Otherwise the writers legit wrote her as a weak woman... I can't stand weak women like that. I want to see strong women on TV. That's one reason I hated Vincent with his ultimatum. He picked on Cat when she was physically weak. She's going to fight him with her injuries? Jerk, she just died!!! WTH??!!! You should bringing her chicken soup, not your drama!

I so agree with you guys. What makes me MAD is that he cared all about Alex's safety, never mind that Cat just had major surgery, was shot at and thrown onto the ground. Just run after Alex why don't you. Who cares if Cat might need you Vincent. Aggrrr I am so cheesed off. He lies to her, pretends that she is nothing to him. ... I need to calm down. Taking this way to seriously LOL

Thanks for this. I haven't watched the show yet and after reading all the spoilers and recaps I'm almost afraid to watch now! Yikes!

So, I watched this episode again........it was a bit less painful, because my angst turned into irritation.......and after reading some of Jacki's snark, it renewed my soul........... ;D A few thoughts: Maybe the writers will see all the negativity and do some quick fixes in the next ep so that we don't all jump ship. So help me, if Vincent puts his hands on a naked Alex, I really think I'll be done! There will really be no going back for me, b/c THAT is so far from redeemable in the context of this show (i.e. a romance) that they won't be able to salvage Vincents honor. Remember BATB wirtiers, there heroes in Romances are never perfect, but THEY HAVE HONOR!!!!!! Vincent did NOT have honor in tonights ep. ^^ THIS!! A Thousand Times THIS!! We know that Vincent has done some terrible things, but that part of him that has "Honor" has broken out to do the "Right" things, the "Good" things. That is why we, as the audience, will root for him.......and his whole essence of the Beast, is because DEEP DOWN he is an honorable person. Last night, I did not see that in Vincent..........he acted a bit like a kid who got his hand stuck in a cookie jar. He had 10 years to think about this.....seeing Alex again. He should of come clean with Cat in the Closet (sounds like "Cat in the Hat"!! ). I was disappointed in Vincent. The talk with J.T. and Vincent.......when J.T. thought it was so cool that Vincent got night vision, etc. I did not hear any comments about Catherine and how she was? I thought it was an odd comment from J.T. when he asked Vincent if it "FELT GOOD" to save Alex?? What?? Did Vincent want to go and "save" her all these years? I don't understand the little laugh and giggly smile from Vincent. Like........."I am so beastly and manly I can save my old fiancee and it feels so good?" I don't get it,.....can someone explain it to me please? Especially after Catherine is so struggling to save Alex and still having breakthrough bleeding in her wound.......where is the concern for her? I did notice something that happens right as Cat and Vincent go searching for Alex........Vincent starts to turn into the Beast and then goes back to normal. So, they showed that with his emerging night vision, his ability to control the "beast outs" was occurring. Maybe the ability to control his beastly emotions will help with his sex life later.........hopefully not in the next few episodes with Alex, although I think the writers will tease this with the whole Alex "Towel dropping" in the Promo. I'm glad that Catherine didn't see that even though she saw the hug or whatever and knows for sure now there are still some feelings lingering between Vincent/Ex. KK's beautiful but sad, puppy dog eyes...always kill me....my heart breaks for her. I think that the writers were asked on Twitter if Catherine saw the Valex 'Kiss'.......and they said "Yes"! I know, the gut punch to Cat!! Yes, Cheers! Evan is even better on the second viewing! This is the thing that I mentioned a while ago, when I saw that pic of Cat reading the note..........she would find out about the "fiancee" and we would not get to see Vincent tell Catherine and see his face.....that would have been very telling about Vincent's feeling for her!! But, the writer's did chicken out on that......they wanted to leave it open-ended and playing with us. Copout, indeed! Next week's promo, has Cat saying that she "can't compete with Alex"...........well, if they show Alex desperate and needy, it will make Cat shine. Unfortunately, Cat doesn't get to see the needy Alex,.....we get Cat feeling inferior or whatever. I don't like this and I am sure you won't hear Vincent rave about how great Cat is right now, because he is still testing out the waters with Alex!! I mean after all, she is standing there BUCK NAKED.......in front of him. Vincent is still a man! I don't really want Alex to be seen as this desperate or crazy. I just want her totally gone. So..........how am I feeling?? Well, if I could go into the writer's room right now I would be looking like this....... .......and saying, "you better fix this now, capeesh!!"

OK suzieq ... all I am going to say in response to this is YOU ROCK! ... I am totally into character driven stories and this little sidetrack has PISSED me off. There are several ways to create angst for the characters without them becoming different people opposed to who we bought into. It is not the ex that I am opposed to, it is just that we got to see "Vince" YUCK! .... Who was that guy?

OK suzieq ... all I am going to say in response to this is YOU ROCK! ... Aww, you're sweet..........but, I must say this whole "Beasties" fandom ROCKS!! Great point..........usually, there are episodes where the characters go off course, confront situations uncharacteristically from their norm, maybe because of some unusual circumstance. But, you know, because the writers have set up and revealed a characters values, personality, etc. that the situation will shift back. If characters are all over the place, it doesn't build allegiance to them.....they become just a plot device. Vincent became a plot device last night, or someone different than we have know thus far and I don't think I like him very much! He wasn't entirely truthful and he played mind games with Cat at the end. Vincent was different......maybe they wanted to show this.......that with Alex, Vincent is different and not in a good way? I hope they just wouldn't show Vincent as just a nostalgic Horn Dog! I am alright with Alex calling Vincent, "Vince"........however, when she was locked in the room and Vincent saves her.......she calls him "Vincent" several times! Booo! They dropped the ball on the continuity factor......Alex/Vince vs. Catherine/Vincent!

I actually enjoyed the episode. however, I still don't like Alex. I agree that she was winey and clingy. Since seeing the previews I have been hating on Vincent thinking he was stupid cause it seemed as though he was picking Alex. But I do think he redeemed himself in a way at the end of the show except that he was blaming Catherine for their relationship problems. I mean come on he is as much to blame. I know that Vincent and Cat will end up together and Alex will be history. Frankly, I think Muirfield will convince her that it is in Vincent's best interest to turn him in and she will do it.

suzieq you do ROCK! You said it so well!
I remain mystified by the promise of amazing chemistry between Vincent and Alex, I didn't get that at all. Nothing like the epic love of Catherine and Vincent, but now I can't imagine that anymore either, not after Vincent's sudden personality change.

I got to re-watch last nights episode and I'm still not a fan. However the ending did not seem as bad as the 1st time I saw it. It was actually very telling even though I don't appreciate Vincent psychoanalyzing Catherine's dating history. I mean has she ever risked her life or her job for some guy who turns into a killing machine and who is supposively dead and covers up for him while she finds out that her trusted mother was involved and she gets followed, abducted, attacked, and shot at because of this guy. NO need for reservations on her part. GMABI I think this was the most disappointing aspect of this episode. It's painfully obvious why anyone would take it a little slow or consider that kind of relationship complicated. And he said as much in the cemetery when he admitted that she is in this situation because of him. They cant even go out in public and here he is running around. His suggestion of her bailing may have truth to it but hello you were kissing your ex that still has feelings for you. However, that being said I do think that though I do not like the avenue they took to get to this conversation or Vincents 2 cents I am a believer that Catherine is lamenting what she sees as the loss of the real Vincent and his life because of her mother this is why she takes that picture. Things would be a lot less complicated if she was in a relationship with the happy guy in the pix but instead she meets under dark and crazy circumstances a dark and crazy Vincent and I think she is kind enough to realize that he can still have that with someone who knows that guy like Alex. It maybe a cop out on her part but I think it is realistic for her to ponder whether having a relationship in that kind of circumstance is even possible and if not than it makes sense for her to let him go be with someone whom he thinks he can a normal relationship with. Obviously thats impossible but if it saves her from the future heartache and in turn she thinks it will make him happy I can get her decision. She loves him that much.I think she just needs to realize that she loves him that much to hold on to him, scared or not.
