I think that is an interesting question. I loved season 1!! I actually just finished rewatching it on a whim, which is probably what is making watching s2 so hard. It's not that they have ripped apart Vincat or introduced Tori that has destroyed so much of what we loved about the show... its that they have made the characters almost unrecognizable from what they were in S1. I find it very hard to watch this new Vincent. He has every right to be frustrated and mad, but he just seems evil in these recent episodes. He has no trace of who he was in s1 and that I think is disappointing. I don't root for him to be w/ anyone on the show anymore and I dont want to feel like that. I want his bromance back w/ JT. I want to believe that there may be some epic reason him and catherine were drawn to each other. Frankly, he is such a horrible person at this moment i dont even want him w/ tori. She should just be walking away, he treats her like <edited>* as well. She should try to use her father's connections and find the answers on her own. I never thought I'd be rooting for Gabe, although part of me still does not trust him. I understand his need for redemption, but he still seems to be overly involved. That being said he actually treats Catherine w/ respect so there's something. I also dont understand why JT has completely broken off connection from Tess/Cat. He has no reason to not trust Catherine/Tess minus the whole shooting incident but even that he should have tried to understand Catherine's perspective. Vincent is out of control and Catherine had no other option. Reynolds is scum but to outright kill him would have been wrong, plus he must have crucial info he has not revealed yet. But I digress... I do not know if I would have watched s2 as ardently as I watched s1, if it had been a stand alone season on its own. I was invested in the characters of s1, but those characters are gone in s2 so that is a major reason why I probably would have dropped the episodes. I'm intrigued by the mystery and undercover work so that would have kept me on board. I just think its too hard to play the epic love angle at this point. Which is frustrating, because there may never be a s3 to actually put vincat back together again properly. To force them together in the next few episodes before it goes on hiatus and may be even cancelled does not do anyone justice. Unless we find out that Vincent never truly regained his memories or that he has been acting under the influence of some other power/hypnosis/dna altering type thing. How can we truly want Catherine to be with this new Vincent? I think s2 has a lot of ?s that it needs to answer and I dont know if it is stronger enough to answer all the ?s it has made. It destroyed a lot of what appealed to people from a character standpoint and hasnt really delivered from a plot standpoint the last 2 episodes I think were the exception. The whole vincent assassin but yet I have my memories back was just a waste of plot time. If vincent had truly remembered who he was he never would have agreed to still be an assassin. Very good point....Vincent with S1 memories would not have continued killing or treated any woman like he is treating Catherine and Tori. As a mother of 3 boys, I can only imagine his mother being horrified at his actions.

If season 1 had not happened, season 2 would not have played out the way it did, it would have played oute en differently so really not sure i can answer this question? It's very simple. If episode 10 was the pilot, as I understand it is, would you still watch the show? I wouldn't. Every version of BatB I ever saw had Beast with some goodness inside of him. IMHO, Vincent was pure evil on this episode. I woldn't want to continue seeing that. I want to know other people's opinion. If episode 10 of season 2 were the pilot, it would be a very curious pilot and I doubt a studio or network would have approved of it as such when reading the script. They would probably say that viewers would feel like they were plopped down in the middle of a series and relationship which would be true. Now if you used the basic plot and rewrote some of the Vincent and Catherine dialogue and looks so that this would be where they first meet, it could work. If the show started with this as the pilot, they might have avoided some of the reviews ridiculing the series for not actually having a beast. Last year people complained that the show was really Beauty and the Hulk. Well people watching now can't say that Vincent isn't truly a Beast no matter what he may look like. I'm not a student of Beauty and the Beast, but except for the CBS series, which was basically-- see past my furry outside to the noble critter within -- aren't most of the stories centered on the man being turned into a beast because of his ugly nature within or his uncharitable actions? Usually it is only when the Beast begins to soften and show some kindness to the Beauty that she begins to look past his physical appearance. Even in the Disney version, the Beast cruelly imprisons the father and then demands that Belle stay with him forever in exchange for his release so where's the goodness there? Of course this plays out in 90 mins rather than a series attempting to portray a relationship over 88 or 100 episodes so the Disney Beast has to get his act together quickly. Forgot to add that as a KK fan, I would definitely continue watching and her fight scenes here were more plausible then the threesome she had in the subway in the pilot. On the other hand, if KK hadn't been in season 1 of BatB, I would never even have bothered to watch the pilot since I always avoided shows on the CW like the plague and the reviews certainly wouldn't have encouraged me to tune in.

No, without season 1 to cling to I wouldn't be watching. The violent shove in 2x02, would have ended this show for me. Too much accepted violence again women on tv.
I tell myself Vincent was programmed to kill anyone who asked too any questions, so was braking his programming by not killing her. (And I still think I'm pathetic for making up non canon excuses to watch a tv show.)

I think I still would've watched the show. Would have I been as invested in it? Probably not But I've got to be honest, Season 2 hasn't drawn me in as much as season 1. Season 1, I'd repeatedly watch the episodes...make clips. And this season? Well, I hate to say it but the more I watch it....the more I revert back to watching Season 1 :/ I feel like my main reason for watching it now is PATIENCE....eventually vincat will get back together. On the other hand, I feel the writers have made such a tangled web of a storyline, that unfortunately you can't really forgive and forget....I guess they are now trying to put an even slate b/t vincat...they both made mistakes, they both not perfect and got dark sides. Lets see how they try to fix it. Another reason I watch is because of the actors. They are all talented. Jay is hot which is a bonus! lol. But It's a pity season 2 doesn't have as much lighter scenes like season 1. JT is in less. Vincent is different so the JT/Vincent relationship isn't the same, there's no guy talk Also I have HOPE. After the storylines, at times it has felt vincat are doomed BUT it can't be- it's called Beauty and the Beast...not Gabe and the Beauty, or the Beast Girl and Beast guy lol. So it HAS to SORT out. I think US BEASTIES have been extremely patient with the WRITERS and there's only so much you can take! I mean beasties must be still loyal to the show for us to win the PCA awards despite the storyline lately...so you'd think the writers would put more effort in their relationship..
