I believe that S2 was created to erase S1 completely. I don't know if it was a wise decision or not, but it seems obvious that the idea didn't please many beasties. So I was thinking if the idea would actually work if S1 had never existed and I wanted to know your opinion.
I'll give you mine. I think S2 really started in episode 10. Everything that was done before was to get rid of our vision of the show.
So, if I had started watching the show now, I would watch Pilot (S2ep10) and that'll be it for me. I wouldn't put up with all the violence and the way Beast treats women.
Every Beast I saw so far had traces of humanity in him, something to hold on and believe that this person is not beyond salvation and, deep inside, deserves Beauty. The Beast I saw on this episode was just someone to hate. No matter how handsome Jay Ryan is and how much I love KK, I would simply turn the TV off.
What do you think? Why would you watch it or not?

Thank you for this interesting poll. My answer would be yes. The very first reason for me to start watching this series was the fact that it was a retelling of Beauty and the Beast - it has always been my favorite fairy tale, and I always watch or read any adaptations of it (even if it's a different story, but with BatB undertones, such as "Phantom of the Opera" or "V for Vendetta", for instance). So, I would definitely watch it, even if season 1 had never existed.
Having said that... I must admit that I prefer season 1...

First, I would watch for Kristin Kreuk because I was a fan before this show started.
I love Season 1 and have been excited for this show and believed in it to vote and vote and vote wherever I saw polls. I watched the videos and clips of Season 1 over and over. I remember when Jacki was here pushing for the campaign to get a second season. Miss you Jacki!!
The question for me is,....IF Season 2 started out as the First Season and Season 1 and the love story had never existed,..........I would watch but I wouldn't rewatch or feel inclined to support the show that enthusiastically. I wouldn't be that invested to be honest. In fact, I probably would be disgusted with the way Catherine is portrayed because she is so obsessed with Vincent.........her character is not as strong as she was in Season 1.
Plus, I didn't know Jay Ryan before and grew to love him and how he brought Vincent Keller to life in season 1. If I just started watching Season 2 and/or there was never any Season 1..........I don't care how cute, hot, etc,. JR was,...........I would not root for him or even want him to be with Cat. He would not be an attractive man to me because of the way he has acted toward His Epic Love? I could not imagine these two people together.......I wouldn't be convinced of their chemistry.
Part of the strength of this couple was their strength, their honesty, ......then the way they lit up the screen when they finally consummated their love. Honestly, if they wanted to "start over" they sure as heck were counting on Season 1's VinCat relationship to keep us hanging on, because so far this love story in not existent. I don't even want Cat to be with Vincent. Again, if Season 1 had never existed, Tori would probably be a better match with Vincent......"She Beast and Beast."
If you look at it as if Season 1 never existed you really get a very different perspective......and not a good one, I am afraid.

If I had randomly turned on the tv and watched ep 10 I would absolutely come back for more. The chemistry between Catherine and V is tangible, even when they are at odds. I cannot for the life of me see how some beasties don't/won't see it. Yes Vincent is a an a**hole at the moment, but he has a right to be in my opinion. Life has dealt him some harsh blows, give the guy a break!! Catherine has the right to be hurt/mad. She has also been through harsh times. Yes it would have been lovely for them to work things through together but that hasn't happened and our view of a perfect vincat world has imploded. But there is no other show that I am addicted to like this one. I watch others but none are essential viewing. I have to trust that we will get our reward. Cat and V will be reunited stronger than before. ( season 1 had the yo- yoing of i accept all that you are / i wish we had a normal life- which got on my nerves) Make up is going to be off the charts (hopeful) I am looking forward to the end game then hopefully I can rewatch this season and enjoy it more. Looking Forward to the jealousy and longing glances. Looking forward to having the firsts all over again. Bring it on Sorry for rambling,

I would watch it even s1 does not exist. I would like to see how and when Vinc and Cat would fall in love to each other because they clearly love each other even if everything seems to be against them. I would suffer, fight, pass throught a lot of troubles and then I would rejoice with them when they finally would come together

Interesting poll. I just wrote about this scenario in one of my posts few days ago. If s2 were the first one, of course it would play out slightly different regarding the part they already know each other but in general terms, it could be very similar to the actual one. And YES, I would watch it, for sure. Knowing that VinCat are the final goal, I would be more than curious to see how the story unfolds because JR and KK have such a chemistry than even with angst and drama it's impossible not to notice! Would I feel as passionate as I was with the real s1? Not sure... Probably not... but could become very passionate as the love story started to build up So, YES, I would watch for sure!

Looking Forward to the jealousy and longing glances. Looking forward to having the firsts all over again. Bring it on Sorry for rambling, Oh, I saw it. I posted on another thread that the last epi showed more of the old Vincent than we had seen all season. Yes, the chemistry remains. However, had there not been a Season 1 BATB, I can say that I would have watched but from a total different perspective. That is what is going wrong this season. Had we not had Season 1, I think most all of us would have looked at the show differently; we would not be expecting the "epic love story" nor would we have been looking for aspects of the characters that had been ingrained in our psyche! Standing alone, Season 2 BATB is a much better show. Include Season 1, and Season 2 is kind of a disappointment to die-hard fans simply because there are expectations and character build-ups that exist that are not being met. Everything from Season 1 that was so beloved by fans seems to have been erased, and that is causing heartache. JMHO

If season 1 had not happened, season 2 would not have played out the way it did, it would have played oute en differently so really not sure i can answer this question? It's very simple. If episode 10 was the pilot, as I understand it is, would you still watch the show? I wouldn't. Every version of BatB I ever saw had Beast with some goodness inside of him. IMHO, Vincent was pure evil on this episode. I woldn't want to continue seeing that. I want to know other people's opinion.

I would without a doubt watch this show because it is so different from what else is available to watch. And it delves deeper into the human psyche and considers topics that many other shows don't - like epic love, love that happens in spite of imppossible circumstances, the darker places of human minds. Don't know if I am expressing myself well but....and I am a sucker for epic love lol also love the feels, ansgt and gamut of emotions the show makes me feel

Why would you watch it or not? every tale about beasts or monsters are usually about inner beauty , how the external look can be deceived , and that people should be judge , treat , classified by what they have inside their hearts and souls not by what they look like outside so every beast i saw in tales had a golden heart and a beautiful soul so he was a real beauty worth to be loved but Vincent i saw i e10 , was a real beast inside with a real inner ugliness despite his beautiful outside look ! he remind me of Frankenstein the perfect beauty outside but the perfect ugliness inside , a soul for the devil himself and that beast worth no thing at all , no love , no mercy , no acceptance--- , and of course his story would not worth a moment of my time ! so my answer is definitely no ! and if i still follow the show news that is only for the sake of s1 , i decided not to watch again until you till me there is still hope season1 magic will be there again , until those of you who lost hope like me till me they finally saw glimpse of hope and they saw a light beam in end of the tunnel , until that i am done and no thing can convince me to watch what they air now in a name of a fairy tale they have no thing related to it !

I think that is an interesting question. I loved season 1!! I actually just finished rewatching it on a whim, which is probably what is making watching s2 so hard. It's not that they have ripped apart Vincat or introduced Tori that has destroyed so much of what we loved about the show... its that they have made the characters almost unrecognizable from what they were in S1. I find it very hard to watch this new Vincent. He has every right to be frustrated and mad, but he just seems evil in these recent episodes. He has no trace of who he was in s1 and that I think is disappointing. I don't root for him to be w/ anyone on the show anymore and I dont want to feel like that. I want his bromance back w/ JT. I want to believe that there may be some epic reason him and catherine were drawn to each other. Frankly, he is such a horrible person at this moment i dont even want him w/ tori. She should just be walking away, he treats her like <edited>* as well. She should try to use her father's connections and find the answers on her own. I never thought I'd be rooting for Gabe, although part of me still does not trust him. I understand his need for redemption, but he still seems to be overly involved. That being said he actually treats Catherine w/ respect so there's something. I also dont understand why JT has completely broken off connection from Tess/Cat. He has no reason to not trust Catherine/Tess minus the whole shooting incident but even that he should have tried to understand Catherine's perspective. Vincent is out of control and Catherine had no other option. Reynolds is scum but to outright kill him would have been wrong, plus he must have crucial info he has not revealed yet. But I digress...
I do not know if I would have watched s2 as ardently as I watched s1, if it had been a stand alone season on its own. I was invested in the characters of s1, but those characters are gone in s2 so that is a major reason why I probably would have dropped the episodes. I'm intrigued by the mystery and undercover work so that would have kept me on board. I just think its too hard to play the epic love angle at this point. Which is frustrating, because there may never be a s3 to actually put vincat back together again properly. To force them together in the next few episodes before it goes on hiatus and may be even cancelled does not do anyone justice. Unless we find out that Vincent never truly regained his memories or that he has been acting under the influence of some other power/hypnosis/dna altering type thing. How can we truly want Catherine to be with this new Vincent? I think s2 has a lot of ?s that it needs to answer and I dont know if it is stronger enough to answer all the ?s it has made. It destroyed a lot of what appealed to people from a character standpoint and hasnt really delivered from a plot standpoint the last 2 episodes I think were the exception. The whole vincent assassin but yet I have my memories back was just a waste of plot time. If vincent had truly remembered who he was he never would have agreed to still be an assassin.
