Sorry, I didn't understand. You pointed some good things, but I don't know what this has to do with Gabe and if there is or is not something more about his character. Can you explain?

I've amended the Thread description in case I wasn't clear enough as to why it was created.

I felt we needed a place to discuss these two separate but potentially related topics,

without having them get lost in the other threads.

This way, it will be easier to refer back at a later date.

IMO, it's fascinating & totally believable! 

kp: Atavism is the tendency to revert to ancestral type. In biology, an atavism is an evolutionary throwback, such as traits reappearing which had disappeared generations before.[2] Atavisms can occur in several ways. One way is when genes for previously existing phenotypical features are preserved in DNA, and these become expressed through a mutation that either knock out the overriding genes for the new traits or make the old traits override the new one.

Maybe V has some kind of atavism and his beast genes become expressed when he was injected but not whit cross-species DNA but with something that let this genes express themselves.kp: What I mean that he had this inactive genes unused genes that he inherit from his ancestors.

The gene sequence often remains, but is inactive. Such an unused gene may remain in the genome for many generations. kp:  There are genes in the human DNA that do not express themselves meaning we are strain from apes but we don'T have tail, this genes who are responsible for tail growth are disappeared but in some cases they are just dormant. This dormant genes are inherited from your ancestors. I hope it's more clear.

This is what I actually think is the case with Cat DNA IMO as in like natural selection if you will while Vincent's DNA was made synthetically. Meaning cat has a DNA marker that still exists through evolution but maybe inactive because it is not needed but can be used or obviously manipulated if abstracted. This actually creates generations or maybe even ends them. What i know is that they have made Cats true identity murky and the fact that the mothers body was moved/hidden leads me to believe that their is something in her makeup and I think it is more than that a descendent of a detective on Reynolds side. 1st cross.

I feel like Tori's DNA regardless of if she was conceived was based on synthetic DNA , not really different than in vitro so those traits are dominant, in a way.

IF there is something that connects Vincat it has to be through DNA, not so much as relatives but as in species. Perhaps... Lets just say that Cats blood could prove to be that of her dads DNA and thus why we know that Daddy chandler was not her real dad but she could literally have and organ of someone else or something else and that my friend is a form of chimerism. Cat has been told 2x that she had her mothers heart, she was a lot like her mom etc...Vincent mentioned that Cats mother was interestingly backed into a "corner" (like and animal) but had a good "heart". Then we can not forget that Vincent can hear heartbeats especially in tuned to Cats for whatever reason. Not sure yet. He then ripped out the heart of Tori's father but does not know why but I think it was obviously the only way he could be killed. There was reason. Another beast had his heart ripped out as well. Bottom line is there are different forms of chimera ism, some happen NATURALLY in nature while others are made. Who is to say what has happened throughout evolution naturally. That is a blank canvas. I think Vincent's story is being displayed presently while Cats started centuries ago. And then they CROSSED. Those a some of my wild musings. But who the hell knows. LOL

 curly:  Oh and lets just say that someone would have had to select Vincent's DNA if you think about it. Being he was injected or created synthetically like all the other beasts and then it can obviously go though mutation or whatever as well. It could be possible that Vincent was created to protect or kind of be matched with someone I would think to. Maybe he is so out of sink with Cat in the present day because the beast DNA is taking over (changed) and will come back around when it alters again shifting his DNA makeup or 1 part becomes dominant again, who knows just and idea. Again I really do not see this show has being that sophisticated. It will probably be about a magic Chrystal and unicorn DNA. LOL

It's quite possible that while developing the Mythology, the writers had a Genetics Consultant!

Just like Medical shows has a Doctor as Consultant.

Vincent is like Anakin Skywalker, a man with great power (and "with great power comes great responsibility" - oops, sorry, wrong movie! ), facing a great struggle;
Catherine is Padmé, his angel, the one who can help him find his way back to the light side of the Force;
Tori is Darth Sidious, trying to lure him to the dark side of the Force;
Gabe is Darth Maul, waiting to attack at any moment;
and JT Yoda is!

There is only room for one true hero, and if that is Vincent, something will happen that will make Gabe's mask fall...there is always something shady about someone who flashes his pearly whites that often and who toots his own horn all the time: I'm no longer a beast, I'm just looking for redemption, I just want to help Catherine and Vincent.........to me, still very much untrustworthy.

All the genetics and evolutionary comments are pretty interesting. I have not taken these classes in a long time so I will let you all speculate on them... I do think though that V had a genetic predisposition to becoming a beast so JT can let himself off the hook. I believe that may have been a weak way for the writer's to explain part of JTs back story. But the fact that V survived while other soldiers were injected to me indicates that he was more genetically open to becoming a beast, like the injection triggered his dormant genes to take over. Also could explain while the pills worked on Gabe if there were somehow made w/ genetic biomarkers.

I have watched many TV shows with mythology. What we need is some type of prophecy. I do think that the gem in the collar somehow bestowed power. I do not believe though that is was part of a leash, that is kinda funny to think about a beast being a pet though. I think that Tori may know more than she is letting on, that she is playing ignorant to get control over V. I believe that she or her ancestors use the collar to control beasts. The collar permits her to use the beasts' strength and power for her bidding. Maybe it provides eternal youth or power, that is why you have to rip the heart out. Perhaps she was even using it to help control her father (perhaps he wasnt even her father, but that was just a cover story). I think Gabe may also be part of this plot. But then I like Gabe and hope that he is not part of this evil side of beasts.

I think that Catherine's ancestors are linked to the beasts because they have always been their protectors. Whether it be reincarnation of soulmates or just coincidence they always seem to be drawn to protecting each other. I think that Catherines mother was aware of this connection which is why she tried to protect her from it by marrying Mr. Chandler and pretending that it was his daughter. She did not want her daughter caught up in this eternal struggle between good and evil esp not knowing the whereabouts of the gem. I think she was trying to discover a cure to help beasts control their aggression and she was killed because Murfield or whoever is trying to control the beasts thought she was the protector and not her daughter.

Just finished watching 211, for the umpteenth time. LOVE IT!!  

Gabe was smooth as molasses & shady as an oak tree! 

Something about him turns me into a very suspicious person.

I'm sure he is involved with/or is the BigBad!

How did the baddies know Tori was at the boathouse?

And why did Gabe kill the guy before he could be questioned?

When Agent Dana wants Tori arrested, he's against it right away.

IMO, because he knows that if she's arrested, they'd take the necklace & lock it up as evidence.

No sooner is Tori brought in for questioning [with necklace], the baddies storm the Precinct looking for it.

How would they know that it would be there?

And, again the last guy was shot before he could be questioned!

So many questions!    Hmm???!!!

Since Gabe came in the picture last season..He was shady to begin with..We all figured it was cause he was a beast. I think that it goes far and beyond that. Gabe has always managed to be in situations in which those around him mysteriously die or he kills 'to protect' someone else.In this last episode the Russian guy to protect Vincent. I think Gabe and I have said this for solong now that maybe this is why I believe it so much LOL..Is the head honcho of it all or at least working for the person who wants I guess the GEM and so on.

Gabe loves old relics (right curly?) We know this cause he had a wall full of ancient weapons on his wall in the digs he had in season 1. Plus the carriage driver which Vincent was framed of killing by Gabe used the weapon to kill him with.
He must have knowledge of such things. What 'if' Gabe did all this because before 'we' all knew that Catherine was part of the mythology and the mystery surrounding the beasts Gabe ALREADY knew....What if he knew about Catherine's ancestor? I think he got close to her for this reason. Maybe he likes her now(a bit) but mostly it's all to get what he wants.

As for why I think he knows about Catherine, cause of what he said in Held hostage.. My gut tells me it has a bigger meaning then what we think..Also after Catherine leaves you can see his face change. I don't think this is cause he knows Vincent is inside either.

Now what if Gabe's adopted father was involved somehow? Gabe said 'he died shorty after his mother died.Probably of a broken heart." Did you believe anything that came out of Gabe's mouth last season? Maybe Gabe's father since he was rich, started the competition with M when he saw what M had done to Gabe? Gabe had thugs working for him in season 1..Why can't he have them now? To top it off..You just don't change overnight. YOU don't.So telling me Gabe is a changed man is like saying I don't like Mr. banana! I think that when he was cast as Gabe like Austin they gave him a back-story, I Gabe is going to be the baddie in the end.
