I came across an interview with Jay Ryan from S1 with Hollywood.com. I had no idea this was, or was at one time, Vincent and Alex's backstory. So I’m assuming Vincent still has feelings for Alex.
Absolutely. And they’re unresolved feelings. He holds a lot of guilt, primarily, because Alex sort of nursed him through his meds addiction that he got when his brothers had passed on and he was in this really dark place. I think his anger at how his brothers died prompted him to pack his bags and disappear and go off to the military, without even giving her an option to talk him out of it or talk him through it or about where they stand in their relationship. So it’s been 10, 11, 12 years since Vincent walked out on his ex-fiancée and this is the first time he’s seeing her. So there’s a lot of guilt and a lot of stuff they have to talk about.

I think Vincent had enough to deal with so I'm glad they didn't go there!

Strange though that Jay did not know that they had completely dropped THAT plotline, isn't. But maybe the interview was taken long before they filmed the Alex arc. OR they DID film it and then cut it out later during editing. Interesting interview though and new to me, so thank you for posting it @pinkdaisies

I think even though it wasn't shown onscreen ,it was something something that affected how Jay acted as V in Alex arc. I mean in the whole arc he was one time blaming Cat for not moving forward and than in another he himself was meeting Alex and enjoying. You can't have both girl at the same time.

I hated it when he blamed Catherine for the status of their relationship. HE was the one who was insecure all the time and not feeling 'worthy' and afraid that he might hurt her. THAT is okay and he should be careful - given his past experience with this unknown woman - but he cannot blame Catherine! There were plenty of times where I thought: okay, go ahead and kiss her already. And his speech about her going for bad boys and then pulling back was IMO stupid. But we have learned over the 4 seasons that not even Sherri and Jennifer could get everything right......
