This was probably my favorite scene of the entire episode and it was adlibbed by Jay according to @rottinghaus. It just goes to show how much the actors feel and understand their characters, perhaps better than writers ever could. The fact that you can see him throwing the phone cracked me up. This is so cute! But I was curious, did Kristin Ad-Lib her "I still have to pee though......" line? Because I went to the Transcript - transcripts.foreverdreaming.org/viewtopic.php?f=321&t=28614&sid=beedcdfb7d2c0d784f41f658fb5cf9b9 .....and both of the lines are there. I guess the transcript is done after the airing? V: All right, you ready?
C: "Yeah. I still have to pee, though." V: "I love you. You know that"
I just thought Catherine's line was so random?? I would like to know that too. Because if KK didn't say that line, maybe he wouldn't of said his? Questions, questions.................? **Sorry NotOnTv............just reread your post. Was the phone the thing that was ad-lib'd or Vincent's line? Confused?

Suzie, I think transcripts are done after the show. They are not original scripts.
The way I understood Aaaron's tweet "the way he tells her he loves her was so genuine...had to keep it in" is that the line was improvised which was also the reason why he just threw away the phone like that.
I too thought the pee line was very random and perhaps Jay just reacted to it.
It was too cute anyhow.

That is so cute! Jay is amazing as V. 😍 although..this makes me hate the writing even more...that was pretty much the only real and genuine I love you in the whole finale that I remember. If Jay had not done that and kissed Kristin, we would have almost no VinCat romance. Jay should write the whole show! 😂

It looks like after Cat says she has to pee,..........Jay looks away from her but then KK says the line so sweet and random (with a little twinkle in her eye) it made me think that FIRST: OMG.......Cat is pregnant!!!! Seriously, first thought. Now, rewatching it.........I can't help but think it was something Kristin threw out there to be funny and Jay turned it around and said the "I love you". And yes, missingalias, maybe if the cast would have written some of the dialogue..... maybe we would have gotten some real honest, heartfelt scenes. Or if they just left out all that exposition........just too much at times.

Vincent was just frowning 90 percent of the time. Even if the line were scripted, I don't think the move was thus the dropped phone. It's what I love the most on the long running shows how the actors just improvise some of their dialogues and adlib if they can because they are so in tune with the characters they portray.

I swear, after watching it 10 times,....Jay really throws the phone behind him instead of dropping it and.....that little laugh and smile are all Kristin........it was too serious of a moment for such a quirky little "have to pee" line. I am convinced.

I loved KK's (umm I mean Cat's) smile and expression when Jay (err, Vince) said that. She seemed so genuine with her response in that scene as well! These two have a natural chemistry that will forever be there.

So Vincent was working to be a Dr?............"Mr. Adam Dumas" from "New....Zealand"! Too bad it got cut out, I am sure it will be a deleted scene. Adam - was the name of the Beast in the Disney's Version. Dumas - ? I looked up the meaning of the name and got one meaning: " Mount Dumas is a mountain on Campbell Island, the main island of the Campbell Island group of subantarctic islands, belonging to New Zealand. Campbell Island is an ancient volcano, with steep coastal cliffs that expose some of the lava flows. Mount Dumas is located at the island’s southern end." Maybe Jay had some input on his new "Name". "Mr and Mrs Adam and Isabelle Dumas" lived Happily Ever After..............THE END! When I see the name Dumas, I think of the French writer Alexandre Dumas, author of the Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo, which, if you don't know the story, is about a man wrongly imprisoned who acquires a fortune and goes about getting revenge. Suzieq ❤️ Beastie and pippin I think it´s an hommage to Alexandre Dumas who wrote the story the Count of Monte Cristo. It´s not only the sotry about a wrongfully imprisoned man. Some themes of the story are quite similar to BATB. For those who are interested to know more about. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Count_of_Monte_Cristo

My opinion of 'Au Revoir' is that, like the rest of our beloved show, it was flawed but still utterly wonderful. Plot holes and ridiculous stunts abound in this latest and last instalment but who cares. It was full of heart, and full of soul and tied everything up better than I could have imagined. Here are some thoughts, I apologise in advance if this post goes on too long.
What went well for me was as much what was left out as what was included. I for one was relieved that Vincent was not cured. We met him as a beast and like Cat, we fell in love with him as a beast. We saw him succumb at times over the last 4 seasons to his animal nature but triumph in the end, learning to live with and even enjoy the accidental advantages that came with his altered DNA. Of course he will now have to be extra careful not to expose himself in Paris, otherwise his fresh start with Cat would be in jeopardy but this is a small price to pay for the super-powers that he has.
I also, did not need to see beastie babies being pushed around in strollers to believe that they are on the cards in the not too distant future for VinCat. I think the point of the second ' false alarm' in 'Something's gotta give' was to show us how far they had come as a couple since the first discussion in Season 1. They would now take the patter of tiny feet in their stride and probably be great parents. The important thing is that they now have a future where all things are possible.
It was nice to see that things had come full circle for Cat and she was a qualified lawyer. This shows that she now has closure for her mum's death and no longer feels the need to fight for justice. She will do it in the courts and not constantly put her life (and Vincent's) in danger. We didn't find out what Vincent was going to do but I like to think that, once his French is up to speed, he will resume working as a doctor in the ER of a busy Paris hospital. It goes without saying that, neither of them will hesitate to step in if someone needs saving as was shown in the final scene. It's comforting to know that that will never change for our beloved pair.
My wish list for the finale was simple. I am easily pleased. I wanted Vincent and Catherine to both survive, for them to be together but not be permanently separated from their friends/family. I wanted their names to be cleared and Vincent especially to not be considered a monster, murderer or a terrorist. Braxton had to die - Prison not enough to prevent him from future atrocity. I got all of that, so I really can't complain. It was especially pleasing to see the look of sheer guilt and regret on the face of the previously smug and superior Agent Dylan, as she was forced to hear the eulogy of JT, proclaiming Cat and Vincent as heroes. I do like to think they were somewhere nearby, listening. The actress was great, by the way, and played her part really well or I wouldn't have hated her so much. Faking their deaths was, I feel, something that occurred to them as a possible advantage of being last seen plummeting off the Queensboro Bridge in a burning vehicle. It was genius, although they took a huge risk as they had no idea when the car was actually going to explode. Vincent has a talent for escaping from explosions (Zhaio's Lab and Tori's apartment - Season 2) so I guess he knew what he was doing. I loved that VinCat did everything together in this episode. I loved the fact that she puts her life in his hands and trusts that he will save her. I even loved the fact that she had to pee again, at the wrong moment, and he took the time to tell her he loved her and kiss her even though they were about to jump into the Prince's car and risk their lives again. I thought they were going to take down Braxton too but that honour fell to JT&T, in their anger and grief at losing their best friends. The goodbyes prior to the action were heartbreaking, especially JT's angry tirade at Vincent and then the hug that they shared. Vincent's words "We ARE brothers, and I don't want to lose another one anymore than you do", showing that JT meant as much to him as the two he lost on 9/11.
I actually liked it that there was a lull at the start of the episode, a gradual build up to the action. Cat and Vincent settled their affairs and had nothing else to do but wait and reflect on what they were going to leave behind. I don't agree with some people that this episode felt rushed. It was the exact opposite for me. I felt it built up the tension beautifully.
Someone said that Vincent did not beast out in this episode or the last one. This is not strictly true as he had to beast out to escape his underwater prison last week, and this week, his eyes glowed in the limo, showing the Prince who or what he was. The Prince's testimony that was to follow and the evidence that Braxton had faked his death and had planned the whole thing cleared Vincent's name and showed the powers that be that Cat was justified in standing by him. It also showed DHS how short-sighted they had been, again, falling for the oldest trick in the book and running around with their heads up their asses (great put-down from Tess by the way), after the wrong man. I wonder how that interrogator feels now, after all the things he said to Vincent in the cell. I hope he's choking on his spaghetti and meatballs.
It wouldn't be a balanced post if I didn't also say what was wrong with the episode/storyline. Plot-hole number 1 is how did Braxton convince Vincent that Garrus and Eklund had been killed by an invisible beast? Vincent sensed Gabe killing Ray Sheckman a year later but couldn't see Braxton killing Eklund and Garrus minutes before? Also it was never really explained how Vincent knew when and where his own funeral would be when he told the guy from the Biotech company to meet JT there and renew his job offer. Unless, planning their own funerals was one of the loose ends they tied up in their downtime. But these are small and insignificant gripes in the grand scheme of things.
One last comment is although Paris is great, I would have loved them to have settled in my own home town, London. As well as the obvious advantage of being the only country in Europe that speaks the same language, that way, I could fantasize that the next time I am feeding the pigeons in Trafalgar Square, I might just look up to see a familiar couple sitting on the bench across from me, making out, or just looking at each other in that special way they do. Lovingly and protectively. I really must now try to get a life but whatever I do, I don't think Cat and Vincent will be far from my thoughts and that's a pretty strong impression that this show has left on me. That's it's legacy. Roll on Season 4 DVD release day and what about a complete series blu-ray box set in the future? Come on people. Make it happen. It goes without saying that a season 5 would be pretty welcome too.

AlisongladaboutSeason4 - Great write up, I couldn't agree more! Your opening remark about " flawed but still utterly wonderful" mirrored my feeling exactly! I also didn't need or expect Vincent to be cured. Like you said, Catherine fell in love with Vincent as a beast, that's who he is. Also, Cat being pregnant or a VinCat baby is not something I needed to see in the finale. I know many were hoping for this, but I'm indifferent about it. In fact, I think if Cat suddenly sprung "I'm pregnant" to Vincent in the Paris scene, that would have been way too rushed, as it's a very complicated topic to have at that point. IMHO, such a topic is not exactly a "happy ending" in VinCat's case. I think we know deep down inside Catherine would like to have children. But we also know that Vincent's worse fear is having their child go through what he has gone through or even worse. So in some ways I'm glad the writers didn't go there in the final episode.

I'm so sorry for this end! Sincerely I think that the succession of the facts is so hasty. VinCat are sweet and I miss the romance between each other in recent episodes. For romance I don't mean the sex scenes. Paris is a loving scenery for an end, but the abandonment of their lives is frustrating. I mean ... this is a real final for the protagonists ... Their places, work and habits are gone. I'll miss them
