A few random thoughts about this episode... - There has been much talk about how alcohol and drinking has been a theme this season. I think this episode wins the prize in that regard. In the scene towards the end where the Scooby gang is celebrating I noticed beer, wine, and scotch all at the table. Plus they all took a shot of vodka or tequila or sake or some other clear liquor during one of their toasts. - I loved when Liam confronts Catherine the first thing Cat does is try to kick his butt, even though she has no chance of winning. - There has been a rumor that one of the main characters would die in the finale. At first I thought it didn't happen, but then I realized that technically Vincent did die, so the rumor was true from that perspective. But I'm glad they didn't kill Heather. I was really worried for her because in the prior episode Liam tells her "you're dead". With Bob's death, if Heather had died as well, I think it would have been just too much for poor Catherine. - I never truly watched the original BATB show from the 80s, maybe just caught an episode here and there, don't really remember much. But someone stated that Liam's lair pays homage to the original show, that's very interesting. It made me think how cool it might have been if they could have gotten Ron Perlman to play the role of Liam. They could have explained the age difference by saying that Beasts do age, even if they have longer life spans. I tend to think this would be the case regardless, because Cat is suppose to be the same age as Rebecca when Rebecca was murdered by Liam. But Liam is quite a bit older than Rebecca/Cat, so perhaps Beasts do age or maybe Rebecca was just into older guys. - IMHO, Cat looked far more radiant in this wedding compared to Shotgun Wedding and this wedding dress has grown on me. It is a very pretty and elegant looking dress. But as I stated before, it has an old century charm to it that made me think perhaps it belonged to Rebecca. I wonder if pippin can find anything in the scripts to support or debunk that theory. - The S3 finale's mini cliffhanger was even less of a mini cliffhanger compared S2's. The DHS agent's statement of "the genie's out of the bottle" pretty much leaves things wide open for S4. It does hint that the DHS will be calling on VinCat's help again, but the writers have a clean slate to work with. - I also found it amusing that these DHS agents seem to come in "good cop/bad cop" pairs, with the bad cop jerky agent always being the one to get killed off quickly. - I liked that Cat's hair style finally returned to the straight hair style of S1/S2. I hope she grows it out longer for S4; for me, her hair in S1 is still the best. Same goes for Vincent, but I think his short hair cut is here to stay. - I have no knowledge that this is going to happen, but I'm going with all this drinking will lead to revealing that one of our characters has developed a drinking problem due to all of the stress. My money is still on Heather. And I do wish the show had kept Vincent as a teetotaler. I think part of the show's problem or VinCat's problem is that they have eliminated too many things that were or could have been issues with Vincent's situation -- he can have sex, he can go out in public, he can have a job, he's in control of his beast side, he's not experiencing life altering side effects. Yes they have to put up with people trying to kill them or use them cuz of his beast side, but we know they aren't going to die, so other than that "little" problem, we seem to be left treading the same ground. - Unfortunately because the villains, minus Julianna, were enhanced, we didn't get enough Cat fight scenes for my taste, although I thought the beast fights looked much better this season. The first 2 seasons I thought they looked silly. -- I'm glad Heather wasn't killed off, but if I were Liam and I really wanted Cat to suffer, I would have killed Heather. In fact, the way this show has been written, and I'm including season 1, I feel like Cat would be more devastated over Heather's death than Vincent's. I may be one of the few people still watching who feels this way LOL, but there have only been a few times through S1-3 when I believed that Vincent really loved Cat or that Cat really loved Vincent. I know they say it lots and they certainly don't give up on being together no matter who might be put in danger or get killed, but in terms of me really feeling it??? -- i couldn't get into the 80s version, but I thought in the pilot that the stack of books with the lion head on top was a little homage to the original CBS show. If they had ended the season the way I first thought that they might, I could see Vincent moving into Liam's digs and who knows . . . Since they never said that beasts were immortal just that they could have long life spans like the Bowhead whale, it makes sense that they age and that Liam was now older looking compared to the photo Heather found. At first I didn't like the idea that they introduced about beasts in Don't Die on Me, but now I don't think it is any worse than the idea that Vanessa and Muirfield just created some concoction taking a little bear DNA, cheetah, gorilla, and whatever to make beast Vincent and the gang. So somewhere way back in the Keller or Mama keller family tree there was some beastly mating and that's why Vincent had the right gene that could handle the beastly injection. -- Don't know about wedding dress source. I think it would have been weird for it to have been Rebecca's. It would have been really old and possibly very fragile, unless Liam took the time to take it to a textile conservator and housed it in optimal environmental conditions. I'm going with it belonged to Vanessa. Wherever it miraculously appeared from, I am in the not a fan camp. It was too busy for my taste and I didn't like the high neck. Between the 5 or so wedding dresses we've seen worn by named characters on the show, my favorite was the one Heather was wearing in 301. I thought it was simple, sleek, but a little sexier with the bare shoulders. -- I sort of wish they had switched the actors playing Russo and Hernandez, but I guess that depends on what they do with Russo in S4 -- Ha, except for the bun dos KK or Cat seems to have developed a fondness for this season, I actually like Cat's hair best this season.

Like many others I am sure, the link I can usually rely on was not up and working so I reluctantly went to bed around 3am. It's a Bank Holiday here in the UK so I got up at 11am and, thank God, link working at last. I am going to come down on the other side of the discussion. I am generally a very positive person and find it hard to be critical of my BATB. I have watched the whole episode once and the wedding scene twice. I re-watched the wedding because, IMHO it was lovely. Beautiful in fact. I felt that, although JT brought up the idea of the wedding being that night, Vincent and Cat were very much into the idea. Vincent hesitated and looked at Cat because he knew that the last time they discussed it, she said they should wait a while and the previous attempt had been so traumatic. But her smile told him that she wanted it and as soon as she gave him that affirmation he was good to go. I loved the fact that they all just got up from the table at the same time and rushed off to get ready. No words needed. I hope they paid the Bill!! Personally, I always wanted a quiet wedding on the rooftop. All the people that mattered were there. No top brass from the NYPD or the hospital to make it less intimate. I also really liked the lightness of the whole thing after what was a very dark episode, and the vows they exchanged were beautiful, Cat was tearing up, Vincent just couldn't stop smiling at her and the kiss (or should I say kisses) at the end were perfect. It's hard to get that right. You can't have two people french kissing at their wedding but you don't want an embarrassed and impersonal peck either. They did their usual double kiss, then as the other three starting whooping and turned around to hug each other, Vincent put his hands on either side of Cat's face and kissed her some more. They were in the moment together just for a few more seconds until the champagne corks started popping. There was a lovely moment just after that when Cat threw the bouquet at Tess. who was surprised and failed to catch it. Vincent picked it up and gave it back to Cat so that she could throw it at Tess again, who caught it this time to cheers all round. even JT. For me, weddings should be about happiness not gravity. It's the reason my own wedding was not in a church but a registry office and all my friends were there to celebrate it with me, all creeds colours and religeons. I personally can't understand the need for more 'gravity'. Save the gravity for funerals. This was a wedding. Was the love on show? Yes it was, bucket loads of it. Was it romantic? Hell yeah. Did I cry along with Cat when she and Vincent were exchanging vows? Yes and I'm not ashamed to admit it. Did we want to wait until Season 4 to see them married. NO WAY!!! I may be easily pleased but I loved everything about it. The main thing was that they looked soooo happy. I will re-watch the whole episode and give you all my comments on how the rest of the episode played out later. [ Agree with a lot of what you said. Yes the wedding was short, but there is nothing really I would've changed except cats dress. Loved everyone in that scene so much. But bc the link was late going up I can't write a more detailed opinion and review til later...be back! Yeah, that beading was a bit much. Personally, I liked the first wedding dress and hairdo better, but they're married and that's all that I really care about.

Love it or hate it, one thing I will say about that dress is that it's very memorable. I've never seen a wedding dress like that before. When I think of all the other TV weddings, I can't really remember the wedding dresses. This one was so unique that I don't think I'll ever forget it.

I loved the little homage they did to the orginal for me as soon as they showed Cat walking into it it was like I was back living at home settling down to watch the orginal beast it was so spot on in the detail of the things they had in their gave me some lovely memories and I just wish they had given more nods to the actual essence of the beauty and her beast. I have already said this but I loved the colour of Cat's dress and how it flowed at the back but like many the beading was just that bit to much for me especially around the neck and would have liked to see perhaps a few whispers of hair coming down on Cat's face as I'm not a fan of the bun for me personally I think it ages her to much but that's just me. Hands down I liked this wedding more than the big formal church one they tried to have, I get why Vincent wanted that but realistically the rooftop is just to special a place for it not to have been a option and Cat and Vincent too honestly looked more happier and in love on that spot then they did in the church.

Oh and also now they know where Liam was living if Vincent did ever need o go back in hiding for a while at least he would already have a option and it's already furnished.

The whole vibe that I got was this scene was less scripted and they let the actors be more themselves. Austin's cheering in the scene reminded me of his "yay woo" cheering in the video they made celebrating their first PCA win in S1.

I can't believe that I didn't realize that Showcase had aired episode 13 until Wednesday night!!!!!! Well, at least I didn't have to wait until next friggin' Thursday. I thought Destined was a nice finish to a season that was mostly off balance. I must say that I loved how the episode started with the action already in swing, and I wish they had used this technique more. I love it when TPTB give their audience credit for being fairly intelligent and able to keep up with the story. This episode had lots of energy and movement. And Vincent (JR) has never looked better. More later. It's really too bad that we had to wait 11 episodes to feel the romance between Vincent and Catherine and this was almost worth the wait. I have to say that Tess has certainly been the more stylish of our two ladies this year. I don't know who said what to Catherine Ashton that ticked her off a few weeks back, but the tactless offender did have a point. I'm thinking she should have spent less time on Twitter and more time working on Catherine's wardrobe. The wedding gown choice wasn't an epic fail, but it seemed a bit much considering how slim Catherine is. I liked that Heather's dress picked up on the beading of Cat's dress, albeit in a less busy way, but other than that, Cat's dress would not have been my choice. Nor the butterfly pin (or whatever that was) slapped in the back of her head. Catherine is not fussy and that dress was just freakin' fussy. Okay, I'm getting off the dress now. JT giving it to Vincent straight. Loved it. Only your BFF can cut through the crazy and remain unfazed. Also, the dynamic between Vincent and JT never gets old and really never NOT works. I liked how Vincent casually reached for JT's beer bottle and twisted off the cap during their one-on one. It was a nice touch and illustrated (showed didn't tell) the differences between the two. Nicole Gail Anderson is cute as all get-out, but Heather is such a ditz. "I have pepper spray." Okay, Heather, whatever. I have to admit, though that she did come through in the end making it easy for Vincent to track Liam. And I really liked Vincent's affectionate kiss on the cheek. After Heather's overbearing introduction to Vincent, it's really nice to see the easy relationship between them now, not to mention Heather's genuine affection for her brother-in-law. Loved all the shout-outs to the '80s series. From Liam carrying an unconscious Catherine down to the tunnels, to his comfy, Victorian era living space, all I could see was the original Vincent in his dashing cloak, Father consulting his books, and the romance the series is truly capable of. I don't subscribe to the theory that Liam was contemplating Catherine's "you can change" speech. Liam gave me every impression that he was ready to strike, just like he did with his "sister." Liam was cold, calculating and enjoyed hurting people. Five minutes of Catherine wasn't going to make any difference to someone who had spent centuries wantonly killing. And the only way that Vincent could take Liam out and survive was to catch him off guard and show no mercy. Which he did. I liked it. I liked the clean, simplicity of Liam's end. I don't think Catherine will ever get used to seeing Vincent, in full beast mode, kill someone without thought or care. And she shouldn't. She knows that side is there, but it should never be easy to see the beast in action and not feel horror and fear. Yet, the minute Vincent stands down, she is there for him in every way possible. She's glad he's safe. She's glad it's over. She's glad they're both whole and together. Kudos to Vincent's beast make-up this year. It is the one effect that has most improved over season 1. Other Vincent mentions...I can't remember the scene, but I just love it when Vincent rolls his eyes in anger/disgust at someone. Am I the only one who thinks he's hot? No, didn't think so. LOL I also love the quiet menace of Vincent's "Do you really think you could stop me?" to the gung-ho DHS agent. That guy really annoyed me and I was glad when Liam ripped him to shreds. And no Vincent drool paragraph would be complete without a swoon for the return of THE chest. The scene of Vincent and Catherine on the street going over their options and embracing also made me recall an old BATB episode--the one where Catherine imagines her and Vincent on a California beach and he embraces her and nuzzles her hair. That last shot of Vincat totally mirrored that scene. And finally, I loved the wedding in all its light-hearted, celebratory goodness. I really did. I was so afraid that someone would storm the rooftop and ruin Vincat's big moment AGAIN, so you can imagine my relief when Tess actually pronounced them man and wife. Man and Wife! Woo-hoo! Vincent and Catherine are married. I know I didn't spend much time on Catherine this post, but she was mostly perfect...the Cat of old...right up until she tried to play beast whisperer with Liam. I mean that's part of Cat to be sure, but after everything Liam had done...really, Catherine? Really? Sometimes her optimism borders on the idiotic. But I loved her interaction with everyone this episode...especially Vincent. I could feel her love and worry for him in every scene. I loved how she held on to both his hands when he was leaving her at the hospital. I thought she was going to rip Russo's head off after Vincent had been shot. I'm actually sort of looking forward to Season 4. I hope all the howls and complaints about the lack of romance and Vincat magic this season have reached the ears of the writers, directors and show runners. It would be a shame if they pissed us off two seasons in a row. That's it for now. Wow! Dr. & Mrs. Vincent Keller. I like.

I love your enthusiasm for this episode which I am desperately waiting to see next Thursday anew! I will be posting my feelings even if I am alone after it airs on Thursday and also will be rereading all the related posts as though they were new although filled with emotions now tempered! If you will be checking in tag me back on them so that I don't feel so alone in the DEN. Late to the party isn't too fun! Those darn network people, if only they will at least sync up the airing of Showcase and the CW for Season 4. What a much desired gift that would be to the fans as well as a boost to the ratings!
