My dear beastygirl AlisongladaboutSeason4 sweetrosie29 NotOnTv raniamahd (glad to see you again) and, of course, my beasty buddy BeastieBoy what can I say that you haven't already done... I felt wrong too in the first moment to think about Vincent's chest while he was in bed dying... but we wait for that vision for almost all S3 so... why don't give him a look anyway? JR in a tux could lead to a show on his own and the wedding moment was so spontaneus like it was real for all characters, like they were really enjoy that scene after all the dark we have seen. and for me was a very cute moment when Tess had to marry them instead of a priest that probably would have known nothing about VinCat story and the strong bound of their love My only complain is that maybe this episode has a storyline that could have better taken two episodes to be developed in the right way: I think they lost a lot of time in previous episodes at the beginning of S3 like they would have a complete series of 22 episodes, but they were only 13 and so they had to rush things in the second half of the season. I think that the speech of DSH agent at the end will be the beginning of Vincent's trouble in S4: he could free V. from past murders that Liam brought to light with the government to trick him, but not from further murders that someone else will bring onto the scene

Still no exciting storyline for Cat as a character. Not much improvement from last season. All about the beast or should I say beasts. Ladies if you want to watch a show not to drool at the pretty boy male lead but for girl power with interesting lead who happen to be a strong female with rich storylines of her own, watch Jane the Virgin instead! Honestly even KK is sorta dissapoint me in a way why wasn't more active to voice her views to TPTB that ended up with such a passive female character whose entire existance onscreen is only to romance the show's lead. I expected better ?

DAN,
KK is a professional, and she wouldn't openly complain about TPTB. HOWEVER, she is supposed to become a Producer for Season 4. You don't go after more work and responsibility if you are already happy with your role, in my opinion (or if you juts want out of the role entirely). DOES show her commitment to the show and to portraying Cat in the way she should be portrayed. Becoming a producer IS the way for her to have more of a say in the development and portrayal of her character. So yes, I expect more from Catherine in Season 4, and I LOVE that KK is taking a more active role.

I won't get to see this episode until it airs on the US in OVER A WEEK FROM NOW. Please insert GRIPE about this here. REALLY going to have to go for dual Canadian citizenship next season if this pattern continues!!!!!!!!!!
With that said, INTRIGUING potential for Season 4, based on this episode!
Internal Affairs was CLEARLY after Cat last season and held onto a grudge when she slipped through their fingers. You saw that in the last episode as well. They really have Cat in their sites now. Of course, the Ellingworths and Liam were behind that. So WHERE does that leave the Ellingsworths NOW with Liam out of the picture? Does this mean IA will be officially called off, or do they still linger in the background?
And DHS now knows what Vincent can do. AND they now have LEVERAGE over VinCat, arguably. I am assuming that Vincent will be cleared of Helen's death now, but that may NOT be the case, particularly if the Ellingsworth THINK THAT VINCENT WAS INVOLVED WITH LIAM. Remember, Liam sang Vincent's praises to Helen and possibly to the other family members. And Vincent was there at teh bombing. So the family COULD later think Vincent was aligned with Liam. Hmmm. I like that this episode OPENS DOORS for next season. Ah, the potential! I LIKE feeling excited again for BATB potential!

Hi lovely beasties it has been a long time since i wrote a post -- basically because it was a crazy very busy summer for me , but also because its kind of different now without all those amazing friends who left the forum ! but since i by some miracle catch up with all the episodes i missed in time with the season final -- and for good old times sake i want to share some thoughts about this season and the final episode with you first after i finished the whole season i still feel the same -- i like this season and enjoyed watching it much more than S2 ! unfortunately in S2 we had those ugly triangles which i really hate in any show and find them the opposite of romance and a big turn off ! imho the triangles in BATB were the worst kind too ! because even the viewers who like love triangles and find them interesting would agree with me that for triangles to work in any show every couple in those has to have some potentials and attractiveness and most important have enough fans that it would be hard to predict which couple is the end game ! and that wasn't the case in BATB ! also love triangles in a show based on and have the title of a fairytale is kind of out of place imho , its like has a love triangle in a show based on ( Romeo & Juliet ) ! so in S3 in stead of those ugly pointless triangles we have a solid couple who never doubt their love or the fact that they belong together --- how i refuse this or take the first over the second ?! ---- and even without triangles in S3 every character of the main characters has its own storyline and i also can feel the present of both the beauty and the beast while in S2 i can't feel neither nor know the point or the role of the other characters because one character took over the whole show in S2 ! that doesn't mean of course the S3 is flawless or perfect ! no of course it has its positives and its negatives but for me its positives are much more than its negatives and i really enjoyed watching it one of the negatives was that they keep ending characters by killing them off ! oh come on ! not just the villains or the enemies but almost every guest star ended up killed ! even if they managed to save them in one point they bring them back to finish the job and kill them off ! only a few who survived that fate ! there must be more creative ways to tie up a storyline and end up a character other than death ! --- which is something i really hope to see in S4 --- and before i cross this point big bravo and thank you for both Reynolds and Liam you both did a great job and i wish if we could have you in S4 and i will miss you in it , especially Liam who is the most villain in BATB history i enjoyed another negative for me is the lack of vincat romantic moments for the benefit of Tess/JT moments ! maybe because they are the new couple in the show they thought beasties would be more interesting on their story that they should give them more time and spot , but they should knew by now that vincat is the heart and soul of the show and is /will always be the most important beloved interested couple in the show for at lest 98% of the viewers ! now about the final episode i only have a few things to say because i already took much of your time i really loved vincat wedding imho its one of the most romantic TV weddings i ever see their vows were also the most romantic lines i saw in TV for a long time i loved Cat's dress more than the first one , its more elegant , classic and looks historical too -- and i love historical costumes , some time i watch historical shows just to watch their costumes lol i liked what Cat said to Liam that Vincent was saved not just because of Cat put also because of him , because of the right choice he made , finally some credit goes to V in that subject , don't get me wrong i am a hopeless romantic and love the idea of the power of true love which save lost souls -- but i also believe that people have freewill and are responsible for their choices , so while its wrong to hold other people the responsibility of the wrong choices we made , it also our right to take credit for the right choices we made ! looking forward for S4 although it will be a long wait -- again hope it will be better than the previous 3 seasons and satisfy all the beasties , thank you all dear friends for every thing It's great to see you back and with such a positive post! Too many of our faithful beasties have gone quiet recently. I'm glad that you've enjoyed S3 and happy about the way you feel about the finale and wedding. No show is perfect and gosh S3 has had its shortcomings, but it still delivered enough for me that I remain steadfastly loyal to this show. Sorry Dan I disagree this season was just as much about Cat if not more so than any other season and her wanting to not have happen to her and Vincent what happened to Rebbeca and Allistair and apart from Liam who if I remember rightly was the only actual beast this season the rest were just enhanced.
By defination of the title you cannnot have a show called Beauty and The Beast without a beast it defeats the object but Vincent was the one who wanted to stay away from any beast or super natural stuff and Cat who was going full force ahead with it and all the destiny speeches. I respect your point of view but I don't see it that way and just wonder if you dislike that Cat/KK doesn't get enough story why do you keep watching the show?

OK so I just did a rewatch, and to my surprise, I liked it much better the 2nd time around. What I really wish, is that maybe we could have seen whether or not Liam would have had a change of heart. I would have liked to have had Catherine kidnapped in last week's episode, and then concentrating on the whole Liam changing his ways issue. I seriously doubt he would have seen the errors of his ways, but it would have been nice to see that storyline played out. Then we could have ended the whole Liam story at the beginning of this episode, and have spent more time on the wedding. I like your idea. I would have loved an entire episode focused on match of wits between Cat and Liam, while he held her prisoner in his lair. It seems there is much more to his backstory with Rebecca that could have been told. Oh well, this season was just too short.

So given what was originally in the Sins of the Father script, I think the gem was left with Heather when Bob was trying to mind wipe Liam, but Liam was able to beast out anyway which is why, in this episode, the gem is never used again as a way of stopping Liam.

A few random thoughts about this episode... - There has been much talk about how alcohol and drinking has been a theme this season. I think this episode wins the prize in that regard. In the scene towards the end where the Scooby gang is celebrating I noticed beer, wine, and scotch all at the table. Plus they all took a shot of vodka or tequila or sake or some other clear liquor during one of their toasts. - I loved when Liam confronts Catherine the first thing Cat does is try to kick his butt, even though she has no chance of winning. - There has been a rumor that one of the main characters would die in the finale. At first I thought it didn't happen, but then I realized that technically Vincent did die, so the rumor was true from that perspective. But I'm glad they didn't kill Heather. I was really worried for her because in the prior episode Liam tells her "you're dead". With Bob's death, if Heather had died as well, I think it would have been just too much for poor Catherine. - I never truly watched the original BATB show from the 80s, maybe just caught an episode here and there, don't really remember much. But someone stated that Liam's lair pays homage to the original show, that's very interesting. It made me think how cool it might have been if they could have gotten Ron Perlman to play the role of Liam. They could have explained the age difference by saying that Beasts do age, even if they have longer life spans. I tend to think this would be the case regardless, because Cat is suppose to be the same age as Rebecca when Rebecca was murdered by Liam. But Liam is quite a bit older than Rebecca/Cat, so perhaps Beasts do age or maybe Rebecca was just into older guys. - IMHO, Cat looked far more radiant in this wedding compared to Shotgun Wedding and this wedding dress has grown on me. It is a very pretty and elegant looking dress. But as I stated before, it has an old century charm to it that made me think perhaps it belonged to Rebecca. I wonder if pippin can find anything in the scripts to support or debunk that theory. - The S3 finale's mini cliffhanger was even less of a mini cliffhanger compared S2's. The DHS agent's statement of "the genie's out of the bottle" pretty much leaves things wide open for S4. It does hint that the DHS will be calling on VinCat's help again, but the writers have a clean slate to work with. - I also found it amusing that these DHS agents seem to come in "good cop/bad cop" pairs, with the bad cop jerky agent always being the one to get killed off quickly. - I liked that Cat's hair style finally returned to the straight hair style of S1/S2. I hope she grows it out longer for S4; for me, her hair in S1 is still the best. Same goes for Vincent, but I think his short hair cut is here to stay.

I caved in and have watched this episode off of the Showcase website, no real complaints from me. I loved it! There was no Vincent/Heather smooch IMHO, it was just Vincent being happy that Heather completed her part of the plan to bring down Liam. Yes the ep was a bit rushed (or another way to look at it, it went by really fast) and yes I think there are more gorgeous looking wedding dresses out there. But those are tiny nits. I thoroughly enjoyed the finale! The wedding actually brought tears to my eyes. What can I say? I'm a hopeless romantic, probably the reason I'm one of the few guys who's a diehard fan of the show. You caved in Beastieboy! and you loved it!! I know you weren't so impressed on several S3 episodes ...glad to read you're over the moon with the finale.

Yes and I have to say Heather seemed to be a little drunk and slurring her words in the restaurant, especially when she was talking to JT about the pepper spray and defending herself for planning the distrastous first Vincat wedding. Agree about the dress. I really liked it. There were a lot of beads on it but the bottom part flowed beautifully and accentuated her slender legs and frame. The back was lovely. Beasts do age because Liam was a beast from birth. If he didn't age he'd be a 200 year old baby and Vincent would have been more likely to give him a bottle than rip out his heart. It would have made for an interesting episode but not quite as life-threatening or exciting. Sorry, but this idea did tickle me. In this story, Liam looks like he's mid to late forties or even early fifties (Jason is very well preserved though). They must age slowly and live a very long time. This is why I don't think it's a problem for Vincent and Cat. Although there's not that much difference in age between Jay & Kristen, there must be a considerable age gap between Vincent and Cat as she was 19 when he saved her for the first time, but he had already left school, been a fire-fighter, gone through Med School to the point he qualified as a doctor and then been a soldier in Afghanistan for at least 8 months. Vincent became a beast perhaps in his late twenties-early thirties? Ten years hiding from Muirfield and he met Cat again shortly before her 30th birthday. How much time has elapsed since she was 30? We don't really know. I would guess season 1 was 6-8 months, then 3 months with Vincent missing so maybe a year and a half in total to the start of season 3. The events of season 3? 4-6 months tops, maybe less. Overall, Vincent should be about 45 and that's being generous. Don't get me started on Tori and Gabe and their timelines. I don't suppose it really matters as it's a fantasy but the maths don't add up. The point you make about DHS is interesting. The situation is the same from the Season 2 finale - Two DHS agents knew about Vincent, Thomas and Barnett. Now Agent Russo and his boss know. It's slightly more sinister though this time because of the whole genie comment. T&B made it clear they just wanted Vincat's help with the 'worse threats', but maybe Russo's silence about the people killed by Vincent (won't call them murders because they were not) will come at a higher price. All set up for Season 4 which can't come soon enough for me.

I expected better ? I am sorry Dan but I don't agree with this. You could just as easily say that Vincent has no strong storylines on his own that don't involve Cat. The show is supposed to be about the two of them - Beauty and the Beast - it's in the title. The whole 'Destiny' theme of the season was driven by Cat, dragging Vincent along largely reluctantly until about Episode 9. The Chasing Ghosts Episode was Cat centric as it was all about her still conflicted feelings towards her mum and the secrets she kept. The 'let's elope' episode was again her pulling a reluctant Vincent along with HER plan. The Heart episode got them into councilling because she was so driven she interrogated a sick man to the point she nearly killed him, giving him a heart attack. Even Tess was not immune to her 'strength' as in Cat's out of the Bag, she gave the Liam file over to DHS against her Captain's advice. It wasn't til we got to the Patient X Episode that she showed any sign that she had any doubts about what they should all do next and she took a back-seat until the end of the episode when she was strong again, reminding Vincent (who was now the one with the doubts) of how far they had come and that they had to work together to bring down Liam. I think if her character was any 'stronger' as you put it, she would start to become a very unlikeable person. At times she was on the verge of this but was able to just pull herself back before she crossed that line. We love Cat, so overlook her bossyness and the tunnell vision she sometimes suffers with. She is flawed like all great characters. I may be wrong but I have a feeling you would only be happy if there was an Episode starring KK and JR is not in it AT ALL. What do you have against pretty boys anyway? You don't have a problem with KK being pretty. Would you prefer her to be in a show with someone who is horribly disfigured by a chemical attack, or a fire perhaps? It's already been done - The Phantom of the Opera. I really would like to know why you watch this show, what you get out of it. Also, why should she argue with TPTB. She is obviously very happy with the direction of the show and her character in particular.

T&B made it clear they just wanted Vincat's help with the 'worse threats', but maybe Russo's silence about the people killed by Vincent (won't call them murders because they were not) will come at a higher price. All set up for Season 4 which can't come soon enough for me. Good point, so beasts do age. I'm kind of hoping that Vincent will age normally. Maybe not being a beast by birth will allow him to live a normal life span. Or who knows, maybe for the series finale Vincent will be transformed back into a normal human, as in the fairy tale. You also have a good point about the age of the characters. The writers don't seem to pay close enough attention, things just don't add up. Yup, being a medical student/firefighter, intern/resident, military, in hiding for 9 years and now 3 years later - Vincent should be in his early 40's at the very youngest, with mid-40's being more realistic. Cat's age is closer to the mark, but still there are discrepancies. Most assume she was around 29 at the start of S1. But she had her 10 year high school reunion in S2, so that would have placed her at around 28 in S2. Regardless, she's in her early 30s in S3 and her character seems to be close to KK's real age. (Which is now 32 while filming S4.) Rebecca's age is really screwy. It was mentioned in S3 that when Rebecca was murdered she was about the same age as Catherine is now, i.e. young 30's. Yet the first time Rebecca is mentioned in S2's Ancestors, it's pointed out that in 1836 Rebecca was already helping Scotland Yard. Alistair died in 1854 according to S2's Deja Vu and Rebecca died a year later in 1855 according to Bob Reynolds. Which means for Rebecca to have been helping Scotland Yard in 1836 she was around 12 or 13 years old, kind of like a young Nancy Drew, at the time. While I wish the writers would give better care to such details, it really doesn't bother me either. I just sit back, enjoy and go with the flow..
