Love your analysis Darcy! ... stuff like this will have to keep us busy ...... sooooo, with their chemistry, how many takes did our kissing scene take?? ...just kinda wondering ... Sounds like a BATB writers twitter question to me!!
Did you all notice that there was only ONE camera take from the time of the first kiss, through Vincent's declaration of love and all the way until the New York skyline? That's pretty amazing, when you think about it!!

Posted this earlier, but got no response, so I'm trying again... anyone?Question - what do we know about the Masquerade Gala they're going to?
Evan and Cat are both there, and I remember someone said that Cat goes because she has a lead on the dude that got away when Darius was killed, who could exonerate Vincent.

what if his dad moved away though? Good thought, oa. But then I went back and checked the pilot episode, and in the precinct, as Tess, Joe and Cat are all pondering about the fingerprints belonging to a "dead guy", Tess says "I'd say talk to his family, but look (pointing to the board), next of kin, they've all passed away".
So that's the assumption we've been under. Now is that true, or has JT or Vincent altered computer records to protect any members of his family from Muirfield? (Didn't know they could do that, but we learned in this episode that Cat suggests JT create a phony social security number and ID for Vincent Zalansky!)
Ahh, I've had way too much free time on my hands today! Just love to analyze everything about BATB!!

Throwing something else out there, not sure if this is the correct thread in which to put it...
About deleted scenes - I read that they film about 10-12 minutes extra each week, and then cut back to fit their time slot. Apparently there were several scenes with Tess and Joe over the weeks, that ended up on the cutting room floor. So when we saw them snuggled up in bed, it was actually the first time they've been "together" on screen, even though they had done various scenes together.
It's a little mind-bending to think of how many times they retake each scene till they get it right, and then there are variations in the dialogue, some of which get into the preview promos, though they're not actually in the actual episode. I always find that a little disconcerting, since we watch the promos over and over, but then the lines we've virtually memorized never actually appear!! In fact, I make a point now to find the differences, and there are some every week! Like this week when Vincent, in the promo, says "No one else can know about me", but then in the episode, he actually says : "we cannot risk having anymore people know about me"...
Sometimes it's an even bigger difference. In the promo for Seeing Red, which we all saw for 6 weeks between Dec and Jan, They show Cat talking to Vincent in her living room, and Vincent has a scrape on his forehead. So I spent all that time, wondering if Vincent got cut when he ripped off Catherine's car door, or when he fought as the beast in the hospital basement ... etc. And then, in the actual show, his brow was smooth and as beautiful as always... Guess they cut that part out ??
I remember in the preview for Out of Control, Vincent and Cat have these lovely lines at the warehouse table: "I wish, maybe for once, you could not be a cop and I could not be... [what I am]." Catherine replies "and you're afraid I can't handle it"... But then, once the show aired, there was none of that!
I don't know, maybe I think too much... Does anyone else find that kind of stuff a tad annoying? I guess another way to look at is that we get some bonus lines to ponder during breaks (curse you, hiatus until March 14th!) in addition to all the dialogue in the episodes!
Wonder if we get some of these deleted scenes, etc, in the special features of the season DVDs?!

Darcy I got the impression the father passed away as well from the episode that Julz above just mentioned also. (form the newspaper guy). However if you remember he did look at the picture of him and Alex with the older couple in her apartment. I thought that was not random at the time especially when there were so many other pictures. No idea on the mom. But if I remember correctly somebody did question who they were in that picture with the writers during a twitter Q&A and they just kind of responded with a questions of their own I think. Something like "what makes you say or ask that or what do you think". i think what is obvious is that there is a lot to tell yet and people to be protected especially now that Muirfield is on it and his whereabouts. You're right, curly, I remember the newspaper vendor saying his dad used to buy the paper every day. So we know he's dead, but not when or how. And we're not sure if the folks in the photo at Alex's were his parents or hers... or someone else altogether. There sure is a lot of good stuff that the writers can explore.
Question - what do we know about the Masquerade Gala they're going to? Seems Evan and Cat are both there, and I remember someone said that Cat goes because she has a lead on the dude that got away when Darius was killed, who could exonerate Vincent.

At the gravesite it said 1971-2011 so his brother would be about 40-41.... They have mentioned his brothers were older right? Yup, I'm pretty sure in the pilot, when the nurse is giving Cat and Tess info, says he was the youngest brother. And yes, the brother whose grave they visited, was30 at the time of his death, and would be 42-43 if he was still alive today.

Yup, went back and checked a bit - she has it on all the time... In the pilot, as she caresses Vincent's face (scene which we've all seen a thousand times), and during the wedding dance... They don't show her right hand in the hospital bed scene, though you wouldn't expect her to have it (or any other jewelry) for the surgery. And then it's back when next she sees Vincent in the hospital corridor/supply room, and from then on.
So it seems like it was definitely off on purpose for the rooftop kissing. Probably they didn't want anything to distract from the moment!
I, too, love to check out all the details. Like - a funny moment - did anyone else notice when most of the books at the cabin were backwards on the shelves? What's up with that?
One more note about the pizza supper - thought it was interesting that Vincent had water in his wine glass, while all the others had wine. Love that continuity that they work so hard on. Another reason this show is so excellent!

I still have not recovered from last night's episode enough to form coherent thoughts but I will. I need to watch it a few more times.........is it possible to love an episode this much?? This ranks as my top 3 favorite TV kisses! My Goodness, it was spectacular. Jay, all I have to say is.........I don't know who taught you to talk in that deep, breathy tone, but it makes this girl weak in the knees!! Hard to come down from it - WOW!!! For me, that has got to be one of, if not THE best TV kisses ever... amazing how it has met and surpassed all our expectations and hopes. We've been catapulted from discouragement (depression? despair?) to literal ecstasy! And it looks like it just keeps getting better - how is that possible?
Alex? Alex who?

Did anyone notice that we got 1 of his brothers name=William and that he was as fireman who was married from that headstone. It has been bothering me that we have not learned more about them yet. So don't think it was an accident. Maybe we will meet the sister in law at some point. Maybe one of these brothers could have kids etc...Vincent extended family stuff would be cool story line especially if he has to protect them. I love the idea of learning more about Vincent's family... btw do we know what happened to his mom and/or dad? I remember hearing that he has no family left, but not the details.
We do know that both brothers were killed in the towers, and now that one was a fireman, but we haven't heard about the other.

Hey all, where did the idea of a dream sequence come in? Just speculation or did we get a tip?
The official spoiler does say: "Meanwhile, Vincent worries he may lose control if he gets romantically involved with Cat. " So if it is a dream, it must come from Vincent's POV.
Thoughts?

So, was that some of the best TV we've ever seen or what?!! Aaagh! I've already watched it about a hundred times... need to move onto something else before i go stark raving mad... and yet I'll just rewind and watch one more time...
A few things I've noticed about the preview: The new character in the preview works for Muirfield (he's the actor from Twilight), but he's not the ADA, that's another guy we'll meet next episode, (the actor from Heroes).
When Catherine says "together we can face anything", there are two video clips while she's speaking, both in Vincent's loft, both in the daytime with their clothes on (ha!). So I believe she's referring to surviving the task force crackdown, not the passion. though, we all know BATB writers like to use the same phrase with double or triple meaning. Everyone catch how many times the word "normal" was used in last night's episode? By Vincent, Catherine, Heather, Tess, and probably more.
Here's a new interview with spoilers, in case you haven't seen it: tvline.com/2013/02/21/beauty-and-beast-spoilers-catherine-vincent-kiss/#more-409581
20 days and counting - this will be torture!!!
