I, too, love how Catherine just doesn't think about her own safety when it comes to Vincent because she just KNOWS he won't hurt her now. The trust is clearly there. And even if she might be at risk, she is willing to take the chance. It is like she knows instinctively that Vincent needs her touch to bring him back to who he really is.

I get why V injects himself, but all things considered at that point it probably wasn’t the smartest thing to do.

Love that V was there listening to Cat at the grave & that he comforts her & tells her that they will make it right and that they will move on together.
Love V’s swooning line “I would make that same choice again, if it meant that I could be in your life”

Vincent the beast and his memories..Love this part...and the fact that Catherine brings him down. Back then he would never hurt her. At least they explain HOW he got the scar on his face. The one he looses in Season 2

And I like how Catherine is willing to confront her father or anyone else seeking to hide the truth from her. And she will clearly do whatever she has to in order to help Vincent. I really felt this episode was a turning point in the relationship for our core 3 main players at this point in how they react to one another and how they accept that they are going to be in this together moving forward. Vincent and Catherine could clearly go nowhere but towards each other after all of this. (Which just meant they had to come up with the whole Alex set-up to attempt to delay the inevitable. Insert grumbling here.)
And the way Vincent just chooses to inject himself and risk it all rather than just wait for testing. While it ultimately WAS his decision, you see how he has a ways to go in realizing that he is NOT alone anymore and needs to make decisions with Catherine moving forwards. (Again, wets my appetite for Season 3 in that I assume that we will get to see how VinCat makes decisions TOGETHER, even when might affect only one of them. That is one of the extra fun things about re-watches--you really get to see the progression of the relationship and appreciate the doubts and stumblings born out of VinCat getting to know one another.)
It is also heartbreaking to see how close Vincent's unit obviously was and yet how quickly so many of them apparently went mad so quickly! That is another thing that I wish they (writers/showrunners/etc.) would have covered--why some went crazier than others. We have Vincent repeatedly acknowledging that he is "different" in Season 2 because Catherine's love makes him want to be a better man and fight the good fight. But what did he have back in pre-Catherine days that allowed him to survive? They DO try to explain in this episode about the side effects affecting everyone differently and at different times, but you REALLY wonder if Vincent had had other blackouts over the years that he didn't notice? (Maybe he secretly sought out Catherine in beast-mode and followed her around without ever knowing or remembering it!)

The cemetery scene Catherine talking to her mom is one of the saddest scenes. The fact that Vincent is there to support her tells volumes of how much they comfort each other.

I also like that this episode establishes that Vanessa Chandler really WAS a good person and wanted to fix her mistakes and help protect the soldiers, even at the risk of her own life. She was willing to "talk" and come forward, as she threatened the soldier to do if they followed through with killing all of the beast-soldiers. She clearly wanted to do the right thing in the end. And she gave Vincent her reasons for participating in the beast projects with the long-term goal being to protect people. It is sad that Season 2 Vincent in episode "Held Hostage" can't remember, at least at that time, the good side of Vanessa because he comments about Catherine's whole family having screwed him over and not being able to trust them. So even if Vincent DID fully have all of his memories at that point, he clearly didn't know how to interpret them OR he remembered more than he remembers in this episode. Because Vanessa clearly DID try to save Vincent (and the others, where possible).
And I LOVE the way that Vincent is so protective of wanting Catherine to remember her mother in the best light possible, but yet he also wants Catherine to have the truth and answers that she seeks. So even when Vincent is suffering, he is trying to put Catherine's needs ahead of his own. SO SWEET! (And the freaking LOOKS between the two--just LOVE it!)
