Do you think if ratings are better this summer, maybe we could have a possibility of more than 13 episodes? Because they will begin to film earlier..? No, if it's 13 it stays at 13. Besides the article which leaked the renewal stated that by season 4 the show would have 70 episodes. .so here's the run down S1 22 + S2 22 +S3 13 +S4 13 = 70 People can tweet like last season for a full season and it will be in vein. Not to mention by keeping the episode count at 13, this would open the doors for us to potentially have more seasons.

I took that to mean that 13 are ordered. But the CW can always order more if they choose to do so. Or they can order more and call it S5 if they want. Wishful thinking, yes, but still think anything can happen. The S3 filming schedule and plans to release it as a mid-season or summer show didn't leave room for more episodes. They stuck with 13 based on S2's ratings. By filming early in S4's case, gives more room for possibilities. It all really comes down to how well S3 performs. If it stays more or less the same, yeah we'll be stuck with 13. But that's our new lucky number, right?!

Do you think if ratings are better this summer, maybe we could have a possibility of more than 13 episodes? Because they will begin to film earlier..? i was thinking the same : why start filming a 13 eps season in June if you will air it next summer = a whole year from then ?! it makes more sense to start with maybe the new year ? five month before the airing time --- unless you want to be prepared for any changed you may have to make ? maybe airing earlier or filming more eps per S4 , S5 so you would reach the charming 88 eps number ?! who knows ? if i learn anything from watching /follow BATB for over 2 years now it would be that everything is possible ! Speaking of Summer, hope they get to dress Cat lots of cute summery dresses, cute shorts as for V well, he can wear sexy shorts with no shirts i have no problem with that at all . That would really be nice for a change in wardrobe, I love all the leather jackets Cat wears & the winter scenes but i love summer scenes too.

Personally I don't see us ever getting fall space again unless we skyrocket to like 2-3million viewers and are doing 10x better than what the CW fall line up is doing. And I don't see us getting more than 13 episodes. There is a reason tho as to why they are starting filming so early for S4. I don't understand why they are filming so early. I honestly thought that they wouldn't stsrt filming again until January 2016 at the earliest. But i am sure there is a reason, and im sure unfortunately it had nothing to do with BATB S4 getting more than 13 episodes. I'd love to kno the reasoning behind it.

But that doesn't seem the case with new shows. Like in S1 when the order count was increased. The Flash and JTV this year didn't start with a full 22 ordered season, the decision to order a full ep count was done after the programs aired. In the case of the 100 the ep count was increased when HoD was decreased due to the star's pregnancy.

Also by filming early it gives the network the option to air it whenever they want. I agree that making the Fall line up again is highly improbable, as is an increase in episodes beyond 13 eps. But if by some miracle the show really catches on and the US ratings do vastly improve, filming early gives the CW the flexibility to make adjustments to their programming line up plans. On the flip side, if other shows flop, it gives the CW the chance to make adjustments by moving in BATB earlier than they might have otherwise planned. I see more pros vs. cons in filming early rather than wait until 2016.

So tired of seeing everyone dressed in heavy winter coats. I'm sure the cast and crew are really looking forward to nice summer weather too instead enduring the frigid -20 conditions at the end of S3 filming.

From what I have seen with other networks and shows it seems like the number of episodes is not always set in stone. I know for a fact that with the TV series Chuck in season 4 the network initially ordered 13 episodes and then half way through they ordered an additional 11 episodes.

Yup, networks can always reallocate budgets if they choose to do so. It's a business decision. Tweets won't matter, but if a business case exists, the CW can do whatever they choose. It cuts both ways. Another reason why I like that they're filming S4 early. If S3 flops really bad (hope this won't happen, how can ratings be worse than S2?), at least they'll have some of the filming already done for S4.
