And I LOVE Vincent's look of absolute horror when JT says that Vincent feels "alive" since he met Cat. (Vincent's exact words were "she makes me feel like I have a life again.") So JT's way of saying this is just so flowery and would of course make Catherine swoon. So for a guy that is the self-proclaimed President of the Stay Away From Catherine fanclub, he sure helps Cat know Vincent's REAL feelings which are NOT that of a "just friends" kind of vibes.
And I love that this episode has VinCat struggling to define their relationship. They keep trying to find ways to have "not dates" and spend time together. It is SO obvious how they feel about one another, yet each thinks the other is not as into him or her as the other one really is. Each is reticent to admit their feelings openly at this point. Which explains Vincent's look of horror at JT admitting that not only does Vincent and JT talk about Catherine, but obviously, Vincent has admitted how much Cat adds to his life.
And, by the by, I LOVE the positioning of JT and Cat on one side of the table from Vincent, each scolding him in their turn about the newspaper article and the chances Vincent is taking. Poor Vincent being gained up on by the both of them! Bet Vincent never saw that coming. (And it also shows how JT and Cat are getting more comfortable around one another.)

Love JT's line of "I'll make a list of what we have to steal from campus." And Cat's reply, in typical cop fashion, "I didn't hear that!" And then JT's saying, "I didn't say it!" HeeHeeHee. The fact that the two can joke with one another. And again, shows the risks that JT is willing to take for Vincent as well.

It is nice to see how happy is Vincent to be able to invite Cat for having a "date" that is not a "date" because a "date" scares them jiji

Its so great, how just by talking to each other, not even about the cases Cat is working on, but just general things, that without even realizing it VinCat or V end up helping Cat working through her case that shes currently working on

That's what I like most from S1 even the issues they have relaxed timing to talk, this didn't happen during S2 and I think this part of the magic the show lost.

I will have to say, I really think this episode NEEDED those outtakes that got eliminated due to time constraints. I mean, there is Catherine at her party, talking non-stop about Vincent. You get to see that her mind is as much on Vincent's 24/7 as his is on her. I hate that those scenes got taken out. ESPECIALLY the scene where Cat opens the present to find the flannel pajamas in it! Because that just shows how much Vincent really LISTENED to their earlier conversation where Cat talked about how her mother always gave her a pair of flannel pj's for her birthday and then spent that day with her. So Vincent chose a particularly THOUGHTFUL present for Cat, showing the time it took to both come up with it, get it, AND wrap it so carefully and nicely.
And you see how Vincent and Cat each repeatedly tell the other it is "no big deal" about their plans in this episode and in "Worth" when it is really the very thing each wants the most, yet neither is comfortable admitting it. Vincent feels guilty about how Cat is already having to lie and pull away from her friends, exactly as JT described it. Yet even when Vincent pushes Cat away, he can't stop himself, afraid that his pushing her away will actually make her go away. So Vincent shows up OUTSIDE HER PARTY, where any number of people could have seen him, all to get Cat's present to her on her birthday. SO freaking SWEET!! So even when Vincent has encouraged Catherine to find a life outside the warehouse, he gives her something that clearly shows how much her conversation and presence means to him, even at the risk of being discovered in the delivery of the gift.

Nice scene between JT and Vincent, they apparently talking about JT relationships when the true is that Vincent wants to know what JT thinks about a posible relationship between Vin and Cat

It sucks how onre conversation w/ JT ruins V's mood & self worth. He doesnt think he deserves Catherine & because of his self worth issues even the slightest convo about JT & his potential love life ruins V's mood & he pushes Cat away again

And Cat can just easily discuss her qualms about lying to others with Vincent. Of course, she doesn't realize how Vincent will just internalize this and feel guilt for what he is doing to Cat's life. (Which is why I so LOVE that scene in "Worth" where Cat tells Vincent that she didn't realize that he didn't know that Cat was willing to do all that and more just to have Vincent in her life, AND that the part of her life that she looks forward to the most is the time spent with Vincent.) I mean, Vincent hears Cat's complaints about lying to her friends but fails to really hear what she is REALLY saying when she says how his place has become her sanctuary from the world.
And I, too, love how even without meaning to, Cat and Vincent end up providing clarity to one another over their issues and in providing further insight into Cat's cases.
And Cat again has an "ah ha!" moment in this episode when she sees how guilty the girl feels about forcing the guy to give up so much just in order to be with her. And the important distinction that it is up to EACH person to decide for him or herself about what the person is willing to do for the relationship. And Cat realizes that she WANTS to move forward with Vincent and WANTS a more significant relationship with him.

Love that despite V pushing Cat away and basically canceling their date, he still shows up on the fire escape to give Cat a birthday present. He cant help himself and too look for her to see what shes doing to make sure shes enjoying herself and life. And then he unfortunately sees that meaningless drunk kiss between her & Evan, and since his self worth is already in the toilet, it makes him feel 10x worse about himself and I think he briefly thinks that he could never match up to Evan and that Cat could never really love him or be with him because of who he is

Have to get out of the office in order to make it to the store before it closes at 10 p.m. Sigh. Will have to finish recap at home and post comments tomorrow. Still love this episode and how it shows that Cat doesn't just want to be amidst a sea of friends and co-workers but would rather spend her time with Vincent.
(Oh, LOVE the snarky girl talk about Evan's seemingly "perfect" girlfriend. Cat being asked if she can shoot her since it is her birthday! And Heather willing to kill Clair for the shoes alone! HeeHeeHee! LOVE seeing the girlbond between Heather, Cat and Tess. I mean, Tess helped DECORATE for the party and everything!)
