I loved V’s smile. It was so genuine, & real. He’s never looked happier, satisfied, or more in love than in that moment. Then when he says “you didn’t leave this time” and “I don’t ever want to hurt you again” it’s just aww and vincat feels all over. Then to top it all off, we are treated to a very hot make out session which you know if they weren’t interrupted they would’ve went at it again. It was nice to see their dancing tongues again. I had missed them this season. This kiss is definitely in my top 3 favorite kisses of the season.

And Cat FINALLY calls Gabe out on his thinking that it is his job to protect her. She tells him to "be honest." She doesn't argue in a mean way but calls Gabe out for what was wrong in their relationship. No balance. No give and take. Gabe just thinking his version of the relationship and what he wants out of it is what is right. Not like Vincent, who just lets her be herself, even if she is quarrelling with him. He knows where her heart is and vice versa. It really IS that simple. They LOVE each other, and they ARE better together than apart. They bring out the best version of each other. And accept that there is a darkness there that each will always have to fight.

Love Vin Cat dialogue after catching Sam, how they look each other when Vin left and how it is clear for Gabe that he has no chance with Cat at all

And of course, V is arrested. My hear broke when he turned to Catherine and asked “why is this happening”

I know during the first couple watches & probably up until 2x17 premiered, I genuinely thought Gabe was responsible for Vincent’s arrest. I am still unsure of how Daddy Reynolds knew that Vincat were back together & that Vincent was at Cat’s apartment, last we knew, we thought that Bob thought they were broken up. Unless, maybe he had spies at the ball watching Vincat & they had followed Catherine back to her apartment.

I also love the morning after scene. There are no doubts and no regrets by either one of them. They can relax together, joke around and talk to one another. And Cat knows Vincent means it when he says that he doesn't want to ever cause her pain again. They both plan on moving forward together. Which is just going to get tested, like within the next few minutes!
And that is the point: Cat's doubts and insecurities about the relationship are gone at this point. Vincent's doubts reappear after the arrest, as Cat's phone conversation in 216 becomes an eerie type of foreshadowing: Cat IS going to once again go back to having to cover for Vincent and trying to hide him, even at the possible cost of her career. But Cat shows that she really means to be with Vincent, no matter what, and that moving forward with Vincent even means accepting that Vincent may never know what it is like for someone not to be after him. So 217 shows us that the simple commitment to one another made in 216 was thought through and meant by BOTH of them.

PHONE CALL. I LOVE this. Vincent calls her out on everything. And Cat is just her argumentative self. She will NOT be repressed, silenced and made to feel guilty as she is with Gabe. She SAYS what she THINKS that she thinks. Meaning Cat is determined to make the best decision based on Reason. But she is comfortable enough to quarrel with Vincent. Because she knows he will let her say what she thinks. (And she probably knows that she never could have left Vincent in the first place if he had been awake.) And Cat's REAL reason for wavering about her relationship with Vincent becomes clear: she is afraid he will go back to what he had been for too much of Season 2. And she can't go through that again. AND VINCENT GETS THAT, as you can see in his conversation later with JT. Yea, I wonder what would've happened had Vincent woken up first? LOL

Still just have nothing but undying love for this episode. For its VinCat humor and quarrels, rejection and love. It is just so THEM. Quarrelling their way to a better future! But all the while being able to say what they think and know that their real feelings and worries won't drive the other person away. And they just worked so well together. I mean, Gabe has to adopt an ACCENT with Catherine at the ball just to try to lighten the mood when she obviously doesn't want his ring! Yet even when VinCat quarrel, they never stop moving forward on the case. Beautiful that everything keeps pointing them back to one another and the fact that they now CAN withstand any challenge that comes their way, as long as they work together.

And I admit, I just LOVE that it always takes a Masquerade Ball to unmask the real feelings between VinCat. There is beauty and danger all in one. And they have to fight their way through together until the end. And it just unmasks their real feelings and how they are just MEANT to be together. Just like in Season 1. And just like in Season 1, their newfound happiness rapidly unravels quickly thereafter. But they are always determined to press forward together, despite the odds and bad guys against them. THAT is the fairy tell that I enjoy!

The only plausible answer here is, he had to have spies on Catherine or something!
