Forget about kissing! This performance by KK made cry just now ..Must be lack of sleep LOL ..NOT really I get very emotional with stuff like that. Yes, she excels at scenes like this. She had me in tears quite a few times as Lana on Smallville. This was a sad scene because it was the end of Lana and Clark, but they went out still in love with each other. Sort of like Buffy and Angel.

Wow it's hard Smallville vs Batb! I love them both! I'm curious though, aside from the making out scenes who do you guys think has the better chemistry? Like based on those 1:1 heart to heart scenes, tension type of scenes...Seeing kristom vs Jay and Kristin in interviews... Like I agree...I respect TW if he prefers not to use tongue/go past light making out but I think seeing Jay doing the extra and Kristin, it does make it more convincing i.e. seeing Cat at the start stroke his cheek (even though they weren't in a relationship yet at that stage.), giving a reassuring pat and Vincent (in the relationship.) squeezing Cat tight at the rooftop...Jay didn't do that much at the start but I know Vincents character was cautious at that stage. What makes it even better is when you see Kristin and Jay in interviews, it doesn't seem to affect them! You can tell both actors seem comfortable and respect each other and there doesn't seem to be any problem. I think what helps is that Jay is funny, appears relaxed so that helps Kristin be relaxed also. I always got the impression TW is abit more tense about these scenes which may have made Kristin feel nervous but at the same time it works for him as his character as Clark is always tense and Lana because she knows he got a secret to hide I think TW and Kristin did improve with that as smallville went on though..I mean Kristin was young when Smallville started and the age difference b/t Tom and Kristin is greater. 5 years isn't much but it may feel abit being 19 and 24 (Tom engaged.) season 1. I don't know if the writers made clana develop slowly because of that also on top of the whole secret thing, etc. But I think the red-k Clark did steam clana up! Since he wasn't as afraid of what to say and I think Lana liked that part of him (not so much the rebelling though.) You could tell Tom enjoyed playing the red-k clark! I haven't seen smallville for awhile but if I recall before clana had a relationship they didn't really do that thing as much (the friendship body language gestures.)? It was more about the facial expressions. I mean it makes sense clana were younger, so there's abit of that teenage, chemistry tension most of the time. Also Lana did have a couple of relationships and at one stage Clark with Alicia...so when clana were together, I think that stopped them from getting as close as Catherine and Vincent as friends. Also the fact that in batb, neither Catherine or Vincent are in a relationship (I don't count Alex lol.) so I think that allows them to be more free and not worry about somebody getting jealous of them. Lana didn't know Clarks secret til Season 6, which obviously was THE MAIN BARRIER. Catherine knew about Vincent from the 1st episode. Probably if Lana knew Clarks secret from the start, there may have been more of the comforting friendship actions. I mean after Lana knew Clarks secret I'd say clana was closer to vincats level (Season 7.) but Lana had changed after the Lex thing *gag* which brought on the barrier of their full potential again. Personally I thought, the best clana was when Clark told his secret and proposed to her at the artic, but we know the ending to that episode *sigh* and the start of season 5 where Clark was human and didn't have the world on his shoulders.. Hi Evanarose. Thanks for joining in the BATB vs Smallville thread, and thanks for posting the top Clana scenes from Smallville. It was really nice to see those again. I can't get over how young KK and TW looked! I agree with you that the proposal episode was romantic and I wish they could have gone in that direction for a little while, but they didn't so... KK/TW had real chemistry, but it was used in a sweet and first love-ish way. They had innocence and passion working for them that was perfect for Clark and Lana; whereas neither Vincent nor Catherine are virgins and come at each other with full throttle passion wrapped in I-am-so-in-love-with-you emotion. KK/JR's chemistry as I said is so in your face intense that they take V/C to a whole new level and I like it. I think TW liked playing Clark on Red-K, too, because he got the chance to be wild and crazy. Clark was so uptight.

^ Proof my point as much as the moments with Lana and Clark were sweet they were luke warm in comparison to Vincent and Catherine... Clark/Lana = Young Pups; Vincent/Catherine = Grown Folks

I never REALLY kept up with Smallville, but remember watching occasionally just because I liked Clark and Lana, and I rooted for them, like all of you... I'm a few years younger than KK, so I thought they had the most perfect scenes together, which were obviously very age appropriate for me at that point. Looking back, I can see I've always been a hopeless romantic. I guess things haven't changed much. The last episode I ever watched fully was the one with the car explosion in which Lana supposedly dies. Ugh, I was already pissed with the whole Lex thing, and then her "death" kind of just made me lose interest in their story. Even though she came back, the writers sure managed to ruin the best part of the show, and I guess it went downhill from there. But KK and TW were adorable together. As for Vincent and Catherine, I just love them. Like you guys said, it's just a whole different level. The story is completely different, and I love that they actually are together, and that they TALK to each other. KK and JR have amazing chemistry, and do such an amazing job portraying adult, mature people who are in love, and who are deeply attracted to each other and who feel comfortable acting on that attraction. They're my fav. But then again, I'm biased. BTW, thanks for all the vids! Love watching Clana sweet scenes!

^Same here! Technically I was about the same age as the characters, so the way they played out the 'High School' themes, I also was in High School, so I thought the romance level suited! But I found the 'Whole Lex' part of it matured it abit, made the characters seem older when they were in his world lol.. It's funny what got me into smallville was seeing TW on a video topless hanging like a scare cow at the cornfield Btw, does anyone know what color Toms eyes are? I've seen him with blue, green, brown eyes...so looks like he wears the colored contacts! Btw, as for Lana coming back! This is the my favorite music smallville scene ever! It actually reminds me of how Cat strokes Vincents cheek in batb! I just thought the music really suited the mood, the light, what Lana was wearing and everything... www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQpvtEKbf-U

When he had his back to her and she touched his shoulder, the way he tensed up made me think that he immediately recognized her touch, but knew it was impossible because she was dead. Then when he turned around and faced her, he took a step back in shock as if to say, "what kind of new deviltry is this?" Because by this time Clark had seen so many strange things, how did he know this wasn't some alien enemy who had stolen Lana's shape from his memories? But when she touched his face (Lana's signature move with Clark), he knew she was real and pulled her hard against him. Awwwwwww! I love it.

Similarities Between Catherine Chandler and Lana Lang
Their first and last names start with the same letter. Catherine wears a ring that belonged to her mother on her index finger; Lana wore a necklace with a piece of the meteor that killed her parents. They both have psycho men in their lives: Catherine has Evan; Lana had Lex, Adam and Bug Boy to name a few. They both love complicated men.
Can you name more?

^They are both played by the same actress LOL! Who would have thought ? Well...both of their mothers did pass on. Character wise they are quite different. Lana shows more vulnerability whereas Cat doesn't easily show that (you only see that side of her with Vincent.) Catherine kicks butt, Lana can but she hesitates and leaves it more so to Clark. Catherine and Vincent work together more on that front.. I think Lana (season 7, season 8.) may have done the same in terms of what Cat did for Vincent, flirting with the witness guy and meeting him alone in the museum, though Clark wouldn't want to see that side to her. I think both find it both important to protect the people around them, even if it meant taking risks and sacrifices...

I think there is a vulnerability about Catherine as well, she just covers it up well. I like that Catherine can take care of herself and take care of her man, but she is still soft and feminine. I like her feminine energy playing against Vincent's total masculinity. It's just hot! LOL
C/L Similarities: Both like to visit the graves of loved one's at night for heartfelt chats.

I wanted to pop in and quickly say that I don't think it's possible to compare Vincat's first time with Clana's first time, at least to me. With Clana, they were 18-year-old virgins, who basically had wanted the other to be their first. Their first time was wondrous and intense, soulful and a little nervous--what I thought was a PERFECT first time for these two and fit their personalities.
With Vincat, we're talking about characters that are 11 and probably over 15 years older than Clana with plenty of experience. Plus they're just different people entirely. Both Vincent and Catherine can be stubborn and fiery, where as Clark is gentle and both Clark and Lana have a bit of a reserved nature, in a way.
I just don't think it's even possible to compare them and say one was "definitely" "hotter" than the other. The only way a comparison holds at all is that the Kreuk was the girl half of each couple.
I'll be back to this thread, but that caught my attention right away! Good discussion!

For those who wish to relive or familiarize themselves with Smallville's Clark and Lana love story, I would recommend this series of clips starting with the first one here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVZta2mJ1xQI also think this 4 min. video does a really good job of conveying some of the poignancy of the Clana love story through the show's first six seasons. www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_xZG2YPCr4And like Vincent Keller above, I don't think you can compare VinCat and Clana because the characters and the situations are different. With Sville you watched the love story develop over the course of 7 seasons following the characters as freshman in high school until they were just supposed to be like 21 or 22, even though by 2008, the actors looks would have you thinking otherwise. I guess you could compare KK's kissing technique with the two fellas, but who was hotter or more convincing, I think is colored by one's personal feelings toward the particular actor opposite KK, the couple involved, and the storyline, not to mention how the actors were directed to play the scene and the intent of the scene within the show. Fun discussion though and when we get to the end of the season and need something to pass the time between season 1 and season 2 (hopefully), I can think of something Sville and BATB related that would be fun to discuss / compare.
