Perhaps a distant relative of Vincent, Gabe, Tori, Liam and company? My Dear pippin , wouldn't that be just the angle the writers would use to attempt to soften the blow of the ending of our show.

couple random bits www.yahoo.com/tv/major-death-small-price-pay-174526117.html19 | For a show that’s only be on four seasons, did Beauty and the Beast‘s blast of flashbacks surprise you with just how young Jay Ryan looked in the beginning? Also, was Cat’s “VinCat4Ever” password a fun, final nod to ‘shippers?pic from article on Toronto production

Good news! The fourth season is on Netflix now! Wow, that was fast. When Netflix and the CW announced their new licensing deal in July, they said CW shows would be available 8 days after their season finales and would start with the shows that air in the 2016-17 season. Guess series finale will be available in half the time. Now I wonder if that had anything to do with why they started taking the breaks between the last few episodes so that Beauty would technically have aired in the 2016-17 season and would be covered under the new deal.

Playback article from last year on the collaboration between Take 5 and Whizbang
Serendipity smiled on John Weber and Frank Siracusa four years ago at a FilmOntario meeting. The respective heads of Take 5 Productions and Whizbang Films, both board members of the industry group, started talking shop.
U.S. network The CW had ordered the fantasy series Beauty and the Beast, and channel co-owner CBS, which was also producing, was reaching out about shooting in Toronto.
“I told John, ‘I got a call from CBS Television Studios,’ and he said, ‘I got a call from CBS’ finance department,’” Siracusa recalls. “A light bulb went off for both of us that we could service shows like that together.”
“Netflix, Hulu and Amazon are trying to find the most efficient model, which doesn’t necessarily include a production arm,” Siracusa says. “Netflix is not like CBS, where you do everything their way. They basically say, ‘Here are the seeds and the foundation of what we can serve as a product, but we’re relying on your expertise to do it.’”
Really thought I had posted this Playback article when it originally came out but I'm not seeing it and the non-functioning search feature on here isn't helping to find things. LOL
The upcoming fourth season of Beauty and the Beast will be the series’ last, U.S. net The CW confirmed to Playback Daily.
The Canadian-certified production is a copro between CBS and Take 5 Productions and Whizbang Films. Production will wrap next month up on the final season of the show, which is shot in Toronto at Cinespace Studios. The 13-episode season is currently set to air sometime in the midseason/summer of 2016.
Overall, Take 5 Productions president and CEO John Weber said while The CW made the final decision to not order more episodes, wrapping the series after four seasons also made sense from a creative perspective.
“We did four seasons and 70 episodes. It was a good long run and a very successful show for Toronto. I think it came to a successful conclusion,” Weber told Playback Daily.

I enjoyed S4 much more than S3, but I felt the season peaked with 409 - The Getaway. That episode was so good that I expected much more out of the final 4 eps. IMHO, the writers just seem to be running out of fresh ideas. In some ways S4 seemed to be paying homage to S1, which was nice and nostalgic, but didn't really break any new ground. I also think Jay was getting tired of being a "beast" in full make-up. Seemed in S4, glowing eyes was about as beasty as he'd get most of the time. If it had continued on this way, I think many beasties would have been disappointed with S5. Hence I think S4 and the series ended well enough and I agree with Weber's sentiments in the above Playback article.

As for running out of fresh ideas, I think that happened partly because Season 1 introduced and blew through too many situations too quickly -- the baddie, mysterious blackouts, the ex, sleeping together, false pregnancy, going on the run, etc.

Not BatB news but cast related. Don't know if anyone else is following this #Ham4all fundraiser on social media for Lin_Manuel Miranda's Immigrants (We Get the Job Done) Coalition but Bridget Regan participated Too bad she didn't challenge Jay and KK. Don't know if either of them have seen Hamilton, but this fundraiser seems like one for a cause KK would support and it would be fun to hear them sing. NBA superstar Stephen Curry had a nice summation on his Instagram: http://instagr.am/p/BVzzzd0AhAZ Kristen Bell chose one of the more melodic numbers from the show

I'm not sure if we want KK to embarrass herself by singing again. LOL. Off topic, but since you posted, I must say I'm enjoying Bridget Regan in the Last Ship. The new season starts in a few weeks.

That's from 411 Meet the New Beast. Thank you. I knew it was season 3 or 4 and a few that it couldn't be, but after that . . .

I liked KK's dancing. Expressive, waving her arms.. Singing was okay, not the new Susan Boyle but you won't hear me complain 😊. I'm wondering why batb wasn't really successful. Read pippin's previous thoughts and i think she has a point. I think there where too many beasts while Vincent didn't save a lot of innocents anymore. It was all about people and beasts chasing Vincent. And i kind of missed an impossible relation between jt and cat. To make things awkward between all of them.Loved the dancing.gif with kk, austin and jay too. And at the reunion. There might be some dancing in BoT

Here's an older interview from season. Might be on here but the search function on this site doesn't retrieve it. At first I thought the date of publication was wrong but maybe season 2 didn't run in NZ until 2015? Beauty back for more Beast Dominion Post, The. 02/03/2015, pTV4.
Mead Kate
What brings out the beast in Kristin Kreuk? She may play the "beauty" - detective Catherine Chandler - in Beauty & the Beast, but surely deep down there's some monstrous side to her that reveals itself every now and then?
Kreuk seems stumped. She turns to co-star, Kiwi actor Jay Ryan, who is sitting beside her. "Beastly in me . . . Jay?" His response is instant: "6am in the morning at work - 'Hi, Kristin', 'Snarl!' "
"See, that's not even true!" Kreuk laughs.
On the show, it is actually Ryan who does most of the snarling in his role as the "beast", Vincent Keller.
For anyone who missed out on the first season, Vincent is an army veteran who was part of an experimental super soldier programme that caused a DNA mutation, enabling him to transform into a beastly figure with super-strength, when provoked.
By good fortune, his path crossed with detective Catherine Chandler (Kreuk), whose passion for crime solving was ignited after the murder of her mother - a fate Catherine only missed herself because Vincent was there to rescue her.
The pair play love interests, whose lives were torn apart at the end of season one. Vincent was captured by the villainous Muirfield and was staring death in the face, while there were some revelations about Catherine's family that may change her future forever.
Kreuk is reluctant to give much away about the upcoming season, but she does reveal that Catherine and Vincent's relationship will be "very, very different". When Catherine finds Vincent, it is not the happy reunion she had anticipated. Vincent has drastically changed; his scar is missing and he seems to have become a super-charged beast with very specific and secretive missions.
Season two, Ryan says, sees the characters "navigate the world separately, before they can come back together, so the audience gets more insight into the backstory of these characters before they ignite their love".
A loose remake of the 1987 series starring Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton, Kreuk and Ryan believe Beauty & the Beast retains much of the essence of the original 18th-century French fairytale.
But while the love between Vincent and Catherine remains an overarching theme this season, theirs is no fairy tale romance yet, and the couple will have to get over major challenges in their way, says Kreuk.
"An element of what I like about our show is that if there is something about yourself that you don't find beautiful, that you think is beastly, or ugly, sometimes it takes another person to see that thing and love it [in order] for you to come to terms and accept that aspect of yourself," she says.
"And I think that is something that's really universal in our human relationships and human dynamics.
"I think that it's really beautiful and contemporary."
