Thanks Speedy. Their faces were just so funny. As are the freaking emojis on this site! Seriously, why can't we have these emojis everywhere.?? I'm off to read all the stuff on here now that I've finally seen the episode. I was hiding as best as I could.

Finally got to watch the season opener and I'm just happy to see them back on the screen again. VinCat are so good with each other it just warms my heart. The episode was very entertaining and funny at the same time. I need more VinCat interaction though and I mean MORE interaction, lol.

Another review: www.tvrepublik.com/2016/06/recap-beauty-and-beast-s4-e1.html?spref=tw I think this reviewer's perspective may resonate with many who still long for the BATB of S1. -- "However, there is a lingering issue with BATB. For a while now, BATB has been a show about ‘beasts’ and that is clearly not going to change this season. Trouble is, when it was first conceived, BatB was NOT a show about beasts. It was a show about a relationship between a woman and a man, who happened to be a beast. That is no longer the case. The show was retooled, the focus shifted and the relationship was resolved . That doesn’t make everything about it bad, but it is a different show than the one we started watching four years ago. I am not expecting them to go back to the core, I don’t think they can [or know they should....] So here is what I ask from Season 4… Be a fun season to watch, get a good villain, have interesting action a decent mystery [not too optimistic about this], stay true to the characters and don’t force conflict. A few years from now I will probably remember the good moments of BatB rather than the bad… that is if they don’t completely screw up the ending!"
AS for S3 we can see the fandom divided into two groups and maybe who makes review are simply trying to match different point of view. I think the real problem was what fan intended S1 to be. I think that The Cw didn't mean BATB as a show about relationship/love, but as a sci-fi show with villians of different sort related to our leads (both Vincent and Catherine) and throught them we could see how deep their destiny is linked to each other. BATB S1 came out in a different way, something special that lot of people loved and where love and deep feelings overshadowed everything else. As some of the actors said in previous interview there where no intention from the production to focus on how much hot and sexy our couple is... it just happened because Vincent/Cat - Jay/KK chemistry is on top. Now there is no more lonelyness in their life, there is acceptance of what they are, as individual and as a couple. The hotness is toned down but now our couple is not an ideal/epic couple anymore but they are real, and they are cute and funny NOW that they are living an almost quite moment before new bad times

The hotness is toned down but now our couple is not an ideal/epic couple anymore but they are real, and they are cute and funny NOW that they are living an almost quite moment before new bad times I guess the word "evolution" best describes BATB. In the beginning, everyone was fighting/resisting the "Beast" issue. Now, this season everyone, Vince, Cat, JT, Tess and Heather have resolved themselves (or almost resolved) on the Beast issue and just accepts that there are individuals out there that know about the existence of Beasts and they will probably confront the problems as they occur. I honestly don't know how they can keep beating the, "We want to have a Normal Life", anymore. In the real BATB world, it just isn't going to happen. There are too many people involved in the development of Beasts and had Beast contacts to totally eliminate it. Someone mentioned the "Beast Hunter" theme this season.....wasn't that what retooled "Vincent Keller" was? He was reprogramed and hunted Beasts and eliminated them? This season's "Beast Hunter" is slightly different, I guess, but it would be great if there was a new take on it. It seems like we had a season theme of , "capturing Beasts", "making new Beasts", "eliminating Beasts", .........what is the driving "force" this season?

I love S1, it is unbelievable romantic and filled with love but you are right VinCat is now more a real couple like in real life. VinCat have still chemistry and the way they deal with eachother is cute, easy and familiar. I like their natural, playful and confident style in their relationship. The chemistry is still there but it has changed. I like the ep and I laughed a lot when V,on honeymoon, told round 3, too bad that it faded out at this point. I don´t like the repetitive storyline. The writer really had to write other lines, not always repeating itself. Let's see if they change it a little in the next episodes. Heather is one part funny, on the other hand she bores me with her way to act like a selfish teenie. The JT / Tess pairing not really interest me but it seems as if JT finds his way back to his old style.

I have the impression that they joked with repetive lines a bit: everytime a character starts with allll the S3 leitmotiv "Vincent don't beast out", "Someone want to kill/expose us", "i have to save you" and so on.. the other character on the scene just stop the conversation like they know that they don't have to return on that path anymore. It is a huge change IMO

Most importantly and overdue: HAPPY (late) BIRTHDAY SEASON 4 SUZIE!!!!! (Now how great was that to get a new BATB episode for a birthday present!)
Now back to reviewing:
As to the repetitive dialogue, I guess it has been SO LONG since we had a new episode that hearing the repetitive phrases just got an "AWWWWW, they're back!" out of me this time. Also, I felt that while the SAME worn phrases were being uttered, the characters THEN went on to add something new --like JT confronting Tess about what he wants out of life and needing her support in his pursuit of beastly endeavors, Cat and Vincent acknowledging that normal WON'T ever really happen and exposure IS basically inevitable, etc.
So in my opinion, the Repetitive Dialogue DID lead to something new ---a sort of resigned realization that everyone has to learn to live with Beast Issues on an ongoing basis and define their "everyday normal" with this in mind. RATHER than just touting out the same worn phrases, the characters SEEMED to get some resolution out of it this time around. (Now watch the next episode prove me wrong.) STILL, the characters all now accept that Beast Problems are back, baby, and they have to deal (without just uttering the same tired phrases, hopefully).
Established Episode "Traditions" also back:
==Okay, I admit it---I LOVED the presence of the "screw you!" dialogue uttered at the bad guy. ALL the characters ALWAYS say this towards the enemy for the last couple of seasons. Can VinCat say anything else to the villains? But I laughed anyways and was glad that this has become the standard reply to any beast-hunter, beast-collector, beast-destroyer, etc.
==Cat somehow ALWAYS knowing that Something Wicked This Way Comes. I really REALLY wish they would give Cat her OWN storyline about how her "instincts" are somehow attuned to Vincent and knowing that danger really IS on the horizon. They've already gone the supernatural route with the whole "gem" thing, so why NOT go farther and give Cat her OWN storyline part of it. BUT I know they won't go there. Just my little wish. AND would give Cat a REASON to always be uttering those repetitive lines if her "spidey senses" were tingling--and hey, would be in line with CW's need to give everyone comic-book abilities/storylines. Sigh.
==VinCat Interruptus. --Yeah, this time on their honeymoon. At least the French meal on the rooftop didn't get shot out from underneath them this time.
=="Someone will see you." --Yeah, Cat, someone is ALWAYS going to see Vincent beast-out while saving people. Just live with it. You covered well for it again. Even in S1, Cat had to get from the other precinct footage of Vincent beasting out at that robbery, which then led to JT and Cat fussing at Vincent. Lovely that this tradition has always continued throughout. Sigh. Quit lecturing the guy --it is what it is.
==Everyone always puts incriminating Beast research/cases on a computer. Which always gets released/revealed to the world or at least the bad guys. (WAS a nice change in S2 when JT actually used this to our team's advantage by making the info. lead back to Gabe's computer.)
==The Denim BASEBALL-style cap was BACK, baby! OH how HOT Jay looked in that thing. Couldn't even really worry for Cat while drooling over Jay in the cap. (Give me more shirtless scenes and I'll agree you're worth more than five million, Vincent!)
BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY TO ME (which made it all good):
The flow of the episode was good WITHOUT KK having to run dialogue at the speed of light. The VinCat interaction was humorous, and the two showed their coping skills AND that they would work flawlessly together NO MATTER WHAT was thrown at them. Cat doesn't go fussing at Vincent for the Bounty Hunter guy getting killed off (maybe because the world was safer for humans, animals and beasts alike with this guy gone!).
And Vincent doesn't fuss at Cat for the holes in her plan that literally got her snatched right in front of him (BY THE BY--how DID that happen? This guy wasn't superhuman. YES, there were loads of people around, so HOW was he able to practically blur away with Cat?).
Like others, I also wonder if Heather will move into the Gentleman's Club. But WHOEVER YOU ARE that came up with it becoming "The Girly Club," you are a GENIUS!! That would BE SO FUNNY if the girls then made it their hangout, with a karaoke machine in the corner---I miss Tess, Heather and Cat going Karaoke singing to deal with their woes!! I know there isn't sufficient episode time left in a short season to do little stuff like this, but it is SORELY missed! (Plus Vincent and JT getting to sit in the corner and watch the girls get drunk and sing--priceless!)
FINALLY: Loved how Jay played a scared Vincent ready to go to pieces when he realizes he doesn't have a lead as to where Cat has been taken, KNOWING that the guy will torture her and skin her alive. ALL because said hunter is trying to get to him. And Vincent is clearly JUST holding it together because he has FAITH in JT and Tess to give him another lead. And while they are talking, he is able to concentrate on the knife and get moving again. And JT and Tess on the phone with him while he drives to the pier---again, Vincent struggles to hold it together because they MUST figure out whether it is 89 or 90. BUT his faith in his team proves well-placed, as Tess is able to narrow it down to 89 based on a previous raid.
And LOVED how Cat also showed her emotional vulnerability regarding realizing what Vincent is up against, especially if she ends up being tortured. But she never loses it and almost virtually saves herself. And her reaction at being MORE WORRIED at Vincent showing up when she was pretty much recaptured just showed the LOVE between them. LOVED LOVED LOVED that!! Give me EVIDENCE of VinCat unending and enduring love, and you pretty much have me swooning.
Still loving this episode. Again, like others, I set the bar low. But I liked what I got. (Did I want more and could people from this Forum have improved the dialogue? YES. But I still liked what they gave me, MAINLY because Jay and KK can work with about anything given to them and make it into something beautiful. Kudos.

Just some random thoughts on the things I liked and didn't like about this episode: - The honeymoon scenes were the highlights for me. Cat seems so happy just to finally have Vincent all to herself, she's got an almost goofy giddiness to her in the opening scene. The bike scene was adorable as expected and I loved seeing VinCat enjoying themselves at the Cafe (until Cat got the call from JT). - I really enjoyed seeing summer outfits instead of those heavy winter coats. That was a great change! And no flannel PJs for Cat in this episode! Thank god she didn't bring those on her honeymoon! - I loved that for the most part VinCat were united and the bickering was left to JTnT. - Jay's French was so funny, loved the ending roof top dinner. But those kinds of roof top endings are also becoming repetitive, as are the wine glasses etc. I hope they do change it up more in future eps. - I'm not sure why so many like to pick on Heather, she's probably my favorite character after VinCat. Heather's ditzy carefree style does get her into to trouble, but that makes things fun and funny for me. - In contrast, I actually find JT's neurotic worry wort traits more irritating. How dare he mess up VinCat's honeymoon!? He was the one that pulled Heather into his paranoid plot in the first place and pushed her out the window. But it's all good. - Kyle seems like a nice pairing for Heather. If I were a gal, he'd probably be more my type vs. Vincent. I'm actually more interested to see what happens to them vs. JTnT. Also interested to see what kind of dynamic it will bring between Vincent and Kyle at the hospital. - The beast hunter was an OK villain for the first episode. I'm glad he wasn't a superhuman or beast. I thought the actor played the role well and I'm intrigued to see where things go from here. It's very S3 like to me in that it seems there's another mysterious big bad in the background who's behind all of this and things will be exposed little by little. But I do hope they change it up, add some twists and give us some real suspense. I wouldn't actually mind seeing Muirfield resurrected to bring things full circle, but not sure if that's something Brad Kern would do. - For me, the whole episode was light and fun for the most part. Which is both good and bad. It made for very enjoyable TV, but I never really got the sense that VinCat were in any real danger. For me, it's because the show has evolved into more of a superhero/comic like genre. It's the same when I watch the Flash or Supergirl, I enjoy those shows very much, but I'm never really worried about the outcome. - Which brings to me what I didn't care for so much. Parts of the show are getting too unrealistic for my tastes. The part where Vincent speeds up on the bike, leaving Cat flat on her butt, was just comical. It was funny to watch, but V shouldn't have done that. Cat could have really gotten hurt. - As I mentioned before, I thought Cat's flip to free herself was also unreal. Her fighting skills were always a bit much for her petite size, but still seemed realistic. However that flip move bordered on becoming a Street Fighter Chun Li kind of wire work type of move. Like most, I thoroughly enjoyed the episode. I'm just really happy to have VinCat back on my TV. This VinCat 4.0 is much better than the bickering VinCat 3.0 and IMHO is a return to the VinCat 2.0 from the last 6 episodes of S2. I wouldn't compare VinCat 4.0 to VinCat 1.0, which isn't a bad thing, they've just evolved too far as a couple to ever be VinCat 1.0 again.

If I was ever that lucky to have a guy like Jay .... ehmmm I mean Vincent, I would be all over the moon. Kyle is cute and all, but Vincent... ahhhh he´s just the full package. He´s hot and sexy without even trying. That´s maybe one of the reasons why I never could stay mad at him for too long when he did something wrong in the past. So, for me, Vincent all the way. I don`t think Kyle is a competition to him at all. Yes, I know, I am just a tiny little bit in love with Vincent/Jay

Oh nooooo BeastieBoy , you did not just say that? If I was ever that lucky to have a guy like Jay .... ehmmm I mean Vincent, I would be all over the moon. Kyle is cute and all, but Vincent... ahhhh he´s just the full package. He´s hot and sexy without even trying. That´s maybe one of the reasons why I never could stay mad at him for too long when he did something wrong in the past. So, for me, Vincent all the way. I don`t think Kyle is a competition to him at all. Yes, I know, I am just a tiny little bit in love with Vincent/Jay I know, I know, but I'm a guy, so what do I know? LOL. I did say "probably" because it's just a first impression. We really don't know much about him yet. We'll see...
