I don't get it with iTunes.why not available? Doesn't make sense to me.. Any ideas I wish I knew. Season one was available for pre-order on the Canadian and American iTunes a least a month before the show aired (according to my receipts). Season two was "delayed" on iTunes but at least it becomes available for preorder before the show actually aired. I've been checking both accounts daily, in case they remember that they should make the third season available for purchase. Writing to iTunes Feedback - maybe that will remind them? www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.htmlGood idea will write to them

A member of the crew told me the viewing numbers on the websites are noticed and are counted. I believe Austin Basis also mentioned that in twitter posts a few times too. Despite my owning the episodes via iTunes, I watch the Showcase.ca, Netflix, and CW websites even if I have it on in the background and have to have the volume off (hey, I do have to get some things accomplished during the day, darn when life gets in the way of my cult, or drug, I mean - show.) Also, I believe that you have to watch the show as an "individual" episode and not just loop it through in order for it to count as "hits" for the numbers. I know it is a pain to do the above, but I'm trying to help make amends for those who only watch pirated copies (hence not counting in the tally of viewers).
Speaking of iTunes, it's Tuesday and new episodes and items are usually released on Tuesdays. Sigh, no sign of season three being made for sale yet on the Canadian nor the US iTunes store. OK, I'm in. I'm going to start doing the streaming in the background off of the CW's site this season. I was only a practical viewer before, watched from my TV and then later streamed from the CW for re-watches. What the heck, my wife already thinks I'm nuts. I might as well lose the rest of my humanity and beast out to get the CW's stream count up. The more the merrier!

Forgot to add this - now that I have an iPad, I can have the CW on the iPad (via TunnelBear for US connection) and Showcase on my computer....why not run both at the same time! I have nothing against Showcase, but don't understand if streaming from the Showcase site really helps much in the bigger scheme of things. I would think not so much. BATB is a CW show, they have the major say in the show's destiny. The CW currently seems to treat the show like sh-t at times, so I would think the brunt of the efforts should be focused on getting the show's viewership up on the CW first and foremost. Why not double stream from the CW? There's free software like anonymox that make it easy to stream from a US site.

THEY are the most important ones for the numbers. I believe you are in the US? As I am in Canada, easier for me to watch the Showcase website and help the numbers on this side...still counts "internationally" I hope. How about we swap? You watch on the CW website and I'll watch on the Showcase website and together we can cover some territory? Fair enough, yup I'm in the US. I'm sure the viewings off of Showcase do help with how the show is perceived in Canada. So I certainly understand your desire to support your country's channel. For me, it's all about getting the show's numbers up where it counts most and that's the CW. If the tables were turned and Showcase owned the show, I wouldn't even bother streaming on mute on the CW, I'd focus on exclusively on streaming from Showcase. But that's just me.

My understanding is that Beauty was renewed for a second, third and fourth season because of its international sales which makes money for CBS, owner of half of the CW and, some have said, the half that calls a lot of the shots. Digital views on the CW site, which contains ads that help support the show, might ease the network's financial pain of carrying a .3 show whose main audience seems to be out of the network's targeted 18-34 demo, but its probably more important that the international networks continue to buy the show. So if people want a 5th season, I think live viewership on the international networks and views on their own websites are key. Now, the CW may be looking to Beauty's season three ratings because of Reign's equally low ratings. Maybe if Reign goes lower when it returns next fall and Beauty can maintain a .3 or manage a .4 this summer, the CW may swap out Reign for Beauty.

Yes the international market is very important. Frankly, I'm just really worried with the way the CW treats the show and with Showcase airing 4 days in advance that the US ratings may take a beating. I'd much rather see a one two punch of solid CW ratings to put the show back in good standing with the network and continue to have strong international sales.

By the end of this week, there only will be 301 on the CW. So are you saying it won't help to repeatedly stream 301 over and over?

I'm not really sure about the reason, but there have been discussions about this on Twitter. I have done it so far just to be on the safe side Maybe pippin can help?

And please make sure you stream episodes randomly and not in order The episodes can certainly be viewed in order on the websites. I was told that doing a marathon viewing, such as turning on one episode and allowing the website to automatically start each episode in order one right after the other - THAT only counts as one viewing. So if you watch a marathon viewing session, click onto each episode as if it's "new", then each episode will count on its own, rather than all together as one. (Hope that makes sense.) Oh okay. So the point is not to let it stream the next episode automatically? Thanks Sorry BeastieBoy for the incorrect info

My thoughts on ITunes is that it can't let the episode be available for purchase prior to its airing (something about licensing agreements and ensuring that a first viewing occurs live). I'm hoping that by Friday or Saturday, ITunes will offer the first episode of Season 3 for purchase. I plan to buy the thing, as reportedly the tv show "Nashville" has stayed on the air due in large part to the ITunes sales of episodes and music from the show. The networks pay attention to people loving it enough to spend money on it! So I bought it by the episode (except for a couple of the Vincent/Tori episodes --just COULDN'T support that!).
I also plan to stream the episode from the CW constantly from Friday forwards. I DEFINITELY want to do my part. And I will plan in the future, once enough episodes are up, to click on each individual episode before I watch in order to make sure it counts as an individual viewing. And I have to say, most of the time in the past when I was streaming from the CW site, I was actually re-watching and not muting. COULDN'T resist, particularly VinCat scenes! (Although how woefully few were those during far too much of Season 2!)
So ITunes purchases of the episodes and CW streaming all the way baby!!!!

I too plan to buy the season pass on iTunes - once they show season three of course. Usually iTunes has a season pass for purchase once the show airs - at the latest. Alas, not yet. I did notice for season one and for season two, that the Canadian iTunes did not show the episodes available for download until they are available on the US site - which would get it about five to nine hours after the show aired if on a weekday. I spoke to an iTunes rep at Apple wondering why, and they said the studio or network releases the shows for iTunes so they have no control over it. I emailed iTunes too. No response yet . also episodes will be available on amazon right after the u.s airing .

Maria and anyone interested here's the site www.numeris.caYolie Thank you for your research. I hope the numbers are up. I did write to complain to Showcase as their website and schedule guide indicated that this past Sunday the episode was to air at 8:00 ET and then they sent out a twitter indicating 9:00 ET. I complained that I'm trying to get people to watch this show and it doesn't help if they cannot get the times straight. They actually tweeted again apologizing and they included the correct time at 8 ET.

I usually don't receive a response when I write to iTunes "Feedback" - but I know they do read the comments (which is a long story which is not relevant here). I think I'll call / write CW and complain - "Where is the iTunes season pass?" Gosh, I'm going to get a reputation of being a complainer. (No comments now for those that already think that is the case!) I did not just email feedback but another team who isvneant to respond within 48 hours. I emailed them this morning
