I don't think any Beasties should be upset by the 0.6. We just barely missed 0.7, you guys. That is progress.
0.7 is what we need to be definitely renewed, so 0.6 is good. I've been told by those that subscribe to Nielson that in the Live +3 (what advertisers care about), BATB sees on average a 0.3 rise on all its demo numbers. With 0.7 that's a 0.9-1.0! With it's recent 0.5 & 0.6, it's been averaging 0.8. That's not bad, you guys. That is just Nielson viewers. That does not factor in what the CW adds for online views. Now don't get too excited because all shows see a bump in the Live +3 day numbers, but what's significant is that TCD doesn't seem to be doing as well in that area. (HOD, I've heard, does pretty decent in DVR numbers from Nielson families being added in.)
So there's still hope, especially due to international sales, the fan campaigns, and so on. I think the organization of Beasties really gives us an edge as well.
BTW, I can just comment that the most obnoxious thing I see is that BATB would flop on any other night. We've had repeats on Tuesdays & Fridays that have performed just as well as repeats on Thursdays following TVD. PLUS Nielson viewers have to check in constantly for it to count. This doesn't mean people are only keeping the TV on after TVD. It doesn't work that way. That means the people that count are actually watching. Is it for real that people think they are only watching because it follows TVD?! What?! That makes no sense. While it's true numbers could fall on another night that may have more to do with people already having another show they watch in that timeslot. That doesn't have anything to do with TVD. Also I want to point out that HOD moved this year and did pretty much just as well in its move.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that with current technology the way it is & the way Nielson ratings work, I'm not much of a Retentionista (or whatever). I'm more about determining whether a show will survive based on its average rating in correlation with other shows on that network. I will admit though that I agree that Friday shows should get a slight edge with lower ratings because people do go out... but that's only because no ratings sites give us the +3 numbers consistently. I'd love to see a ratings site that was all about the Live +3.
Anyway! BATB, for me, was close to slipping to the Bubble, but I think the show is seriously fighting for renewal right now & it did rise...so... I'm keeping it at Likely to Be Renewed. (Definitely Renewed: Nikita, HOD; Definitely Cancelled: Cult, TCD)

^ I have to agree! When looking at all shows in the bubble BATB has been the one with the highest ratings...Also if it wasn't for Nikita and the syndication deal CW is after..it would have been canceled..the show is also averaging a .04 which isn't all to great and the viewers are much less then BATB viewers too! My 2 cents and I'm no expert LOL! Jacki..quick question.. what does the second number stand for in the ratings?? I've it.. 0.6/ 1 and 0.6/ 2 just curious as if that changes the rating somehow for the good or it doesn't make a difference

Wikipedia explains it well, so I'm just going to copy what they said: "Share is the percentage of television sets in use tuned to the program. For example, Nielsen may report a show as receiving a 9.2/15 during its broadcast, meaning that on average 9.2 percent of all television-equipped households were tuned in to that program at any given moment, while 15 percent of households watching TV were tuned into that program during this time slot. The difference between rating and share is that a rating reflects the percentage of the total population of televisions tuned to a particular program while share reflects the percentage of televisions actually in use." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nielsen_ratings

I saw that on twitter and went and commented but it is nothing to worry about. Look at the number of comments and votes. This is not an important industry column by any stretch of the imagination. The most pr he has gotten is probably from beasties posting it on twitter. Today I learned I need to post more comments on GetGlue not just check in. That is a way to help. We need to be in the GetGlue ratings with Arrow, SN, and TVD. They rate it on social activity, not just check-ins (oops-didn't realize). I will be commenting away this Thursday!! I am currently doing some work on the computer but have last weeks episode running on another laptop from the CWTV site. That helps too. We have some tools to work with-lets use them. I will leave you with Fire and Ice's comments. They make a lot of sense. We are sooo close to that 0.7. Let's stay positive and do this. Don't let silly commentators distract you.

I was thinking that since BATB has gone into a more serial show as oppose to procedural it is going to be hard to get more folks interested at this point. All we can do is keep the ones that we have watching.
So I am thinking that the numbers are not going to go up any more than they have at this point. Sorry to say. But we just have to keep working at it so that things don't go down.
I am starting to have my lap top active every night on the CW site. I just leave it on there and come in and out of the room.

I think they can attract more viewers because the mythology is not complex. I had my husband watch the new episode and he liked it. He said he had no problem getting involved and he would watch again. I also gifted Tough Love on itunes to a friend that hadn't watched it. She liked it and was not confused at all. I believe we can still grow, not only with new viewers but by getting some that left back. I know it is a hard battle but I think the show is getting better and better. We just have to keep spreading the word.
I have my computer running the show too. I log off the site after an episode or two and then go back on and watch again so it counts as an additional person. It will read as 3 viewers spent 110 minutes on your site rather than 1 viewer spent 5 hours on your site. That said I think both are GREAT WAYS TO HELP.

I think you're right about that... and I also think that in this second part of the show, in this "new start" of which Vinc&Cat talked in the whole past episode... we would see the storyline grow up and put more drama and intensity on the show in order to make it more interesting for the audience and not only because of the romance (which we love soooo much) but because of a lot intriguing stuff... I mean at least I hope (even if for me the whole romance stuff would be enough to make the show so amazing, magical, compelling, engaging, like it's even right now) I really, REALLY hope for a second season and I really hope Cw will consider the quality of the show and the cast and the real potential of the show and not only the ratings!

We just have to keep spreading the word. Also from what I've read on other forums, a lot of people are actually planning on giving this show a try if it gets a second season. Makes sense because I know there are people who won't start watching a show until they know its going to stick around, no point on watching a show that might be cancelled after one season. It can go both ways, sometimes shows start to lose viewership after the first season, but then there are others that actually GAIN more viewers during the second season. If the CW gets this show on Netflix before the second season it might attract more viewers because I know people that use the summer as 'catch up' time. I just hope if they do give the show a second season they don't stick it on Friday's because then its never going to grow its audience and most likely will lose some of it. Personally I think the CW should just stick Supernatural back on Fridays with Nikita. I know they think that Arrow and SN must be a good match because SN's ratings went up this year, but that is because they put it on Wednesday which is a night when people actually watch TV. I don't think they should waste a Wednesday night time slot on a show that is gonna be in its 9th season and has already run its course.
