Wow, yeah...those are awful numbers for a series premiere. Those are even worse than The Carrie Diaries premiere if I remember correctly and even lower than the series finale of Emily Owens. Yikes. Then again them putting the pilot online could have had an affect on the numbers. We will have to see what happens next week.

Wow. So I was optimistic with my 0.4 for Cult, huh? Wow. You know I wanted to go 0.3, but I thought, "Surely it can't go that low." I guess I was wrong.
True that it was available online, but so was EO:MD, and I don't think it did that poorly for its premiere... but CW is not having a lot of success with their midseason shows. Actually, they aren't having any.
I looked at the (current) half hour numbers for HOD & Cult...unless they get a huge boost from West Coast & initial DVR numbers, they aren't adjusting up.
HOD has gotten 0.5 before though, hasn't it? I feel like that's a pretty standard number for it. Regardless, it's closer to syndication than TCD or Cult and its numbers seem more stable so...I'm going with HOD, unless it starts dropping to 0.4 or lower.
Current Predictions (I'll throw Cult in for fun though I really need a month of numbers, which it should get even with 0.3s since CW has nothing to replace it with):
Shows are listed with most likely at Top, least likely at bottom
RENEWED: Nikita Hart of Dixie Beauty & the Beast
CANCELLED: Cult 90210* The Carrie Diarie<edited>
It looks like Cult really skews old, as it's 18-34 demo was 0.2, whereas 18-49 demo was 0.3. So 50+ year olds are tuning in...or no one is....well, no one with a Nielson box. But I'll need a few more weeks to really make a prediction.
* Based on recent ratings I really see 90210 being cancelled before The Carrie Diaries...but I don't know. There's always the chance CW will want to add even more episodes to 90210 for syndication and just dump TCD. But since 90210 has reached 100 episodes mark, I'm giving TCD the benefit over it.

I just saw a link on cw pilots on whos starring on them.. Luke Mitchell- from aussie soap home and away (he's on at the moment, so that means he'll leave the soapy ) For the tomorrow people. I haven't watched 'heroes' but from the synopsis, it sounds abit like it? Malese- who was Vicky on the vampire diaries for the oxygen show which sounds alot like roswell. www.deadline.com/2013/02/cw-pilots-the-tomorrow-people-oxygen-book-young-leads/

Just spent an hour going on other boards and blogs promoting beauty and the beast. Went on some soap opera blogs to discuss the show. I feel like a lot of people who watch soaps enjoy the love stories and what better love story than Catherine and Vincent

jenniel03 - Awesome! Hope that some decide to give the show a chance, and that they are Nielson households.
I wanted to point out that Nielson is adding yet another watch to track ratings in Fall 2013. This is great for Network PR, pretty much meaningless for ratings since advertisers care about the demo for the part of the show that is actually showing their commercials. BUT cool that Nielson households are going to have even more intrusion. As much as I love BATB and some other shows if the Nielson people showed up at my door, I'd kick them out. No way I'm letting some person come in and install a bunch of boxes and screw stuff on my TV and DVRs... If you Google, you will see the horror stories about people's electronics being destroyed. Not to mention they open up everything voiding the warranty. The lawyer in me shudders at the thought! I get that they give you like $50 for 2 years of viewing and a fruitcake, but no... ANYWAY, from TVBytheNumbers: Fans and networks have long complained that Nielsen's measurment system does not accurately reflect the ways viewers watch television shows in the 21st century. Now the rating service is doing something about it. According to The Hollywood Reporter, on Tuesday, the What Nielsen Measures Committee, which is comprised of representatives from broadcast and cable networks, local affiliates and advertising agency executives, agreed that by the start of the Fall 2013 season, Nielsen will measure "viewing via devices that deliver video from streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon, from so-called over-the-top services and from TV enabled game systems like the X-Box and PlayStation," as well as traditional television viewing. This change will involve installing new software and hardware in Nielsen households. However, this does not mean that the daily ratings numbers will include viewers who streamed an individual episode of a given show. "The shift doesn’t mean Nielsen will begin to provide ratings data for, say, Netflix. Nielsen will capture how much time is spent on that kind of viewing, but to actually provide ratings, Netflix would have to agree to encode its program signals so that Nielsen software can identify them and trace their source. "
I bolded the part that I did so people won't get excited and think that everyone's online viewing is about to make a difference ratings-wise. If you're a Nielson household, you matter. It's the same system. You will still not be counted in the demo numbers that are posted and that the advertisers rely on. And, truthfully, CW was already taking note of Hulu, Netflix, and their website so this doesn't matter much to CW viewers, but it's neat info for other TV shows.

Wow!! hard... but it's true.. the love triangle kill some viewers Well let's hope ratings were better last night!! And I think if Beasties do what we did after episode 9 - which is basically promote the heck out of the show as much as possible during it's temporary hiatus - that we have a chance of getting 0.7 on March 14! I did notice in the SpoilerTV awards that there were people in the comments saying based on all of BATB's wins that they were going to check out the show. I think last night was a pretty good episode - not the best, imo - but it was pretty good. I think though as episodes go that someone unfamiliar with the show would've been interested in tuning in next episode, and obviously all the fans watching the show want to tune in for the next episode... so... SUCCESS! (BTW, I say it wasn't the best because other than bringing VinCat to the kiss the rest was sort of ehhh and irritating beyond belief. I can't believe how much this episode made me dislike everyone else on the show that wasn't Vincent or Cat or JT. Also, where the heck was JT this episode?! He was pretty much non-existent in comparison to recent episodes...or maybe it was just that he didn't have amusing one-liners this episode...hmm) Can't wait to see the initial numbers which should be available soon. And really can't wait for the final episodes. I hope we get 0.6 or better (preferably 0.7 or higher, but if we go up in viewers and just barely miss 0.7 I will be OK with that - but we have to go up, not down)!! I do not want 0.5 or lower. *UPDATE* Metered market numbers are in. Not looking good. So far it looks like BATB is going to get in the initial numbers the equivalent of 0.4 That's certain cancellation territory, you guys. This is NOT good.

What number did you see for the Metered Markets? I saw a 1.1/2 on Berman's site, but that was the same as last Thursday which translated to a 0.5, although I noticed his comments said that it sunk to a series low.

I saw a 1.1/2 on Berman's site, but that was the same as last Thursday which translated to a 0.5, although I noticed his comments said that it sunk to a series low. 1.1 can be 0.4 to 0.5 depending on half hour numbers. I went with 0.4 to be on the safe side and prepare for the worst. Like I said to others though that's just the metered market, so it could be 0.5 or even higher when all is said and done. how can the ratings be so low? Especially promoting the kiss and all. I don't get it. Because not all Nielson family Beasties use social media or check spoilers on the internet. None of the promos showed there would be a kiss. Imagine if you weren't as involved and you went through entire Alex BS S/L and then got the fake out on the kiss -- you may just give up and be like "That's it! Kiss is apparently not happening anytime soon." There are ways we can make a difference. Yolanda is putting together an awesome BATB Fan Collage. When that is out - post that everywhere! Spread the word about Olivia's petition. Participate in the BATB Fan Campaign "book drive." AND most importantly, talk about BATB everywhere. Grab a Beastie friend, go to the grocery store, talk about it in the checkout line and every other place where you are in line. People eavesdrop. They may go, "Hmm, I should check that show out" and maybe they are a Nielson viewer!! Talk about the show at work, at school, and so on. Ask people "What shows are you watching?" and then transition the convo into "You know what show I've been watching and is absolutely AMAZING? Beauty and the Beast." I know it sounds silly but it could work. And of course, utilizing social media is important to, but it seems most Beasties are becoming (if not already) experts at that.
