Is there any one character that will feel for Gabe and work with him rather than against him, or will he just rub everybody the wrong way?

At first, Gabe dines alone. A lot. For the first episodes he's Johnny No Mates. But, he certainly has a relationship with Catherine that is adversarial. They kind of butt heads. I'm having a blast working with her. With the relationship that develops with them, he starts to feel comfortable enough with her that he starts to open up with her about certain things and she opens up to him, as well. Ultimately, their relationship changes. At first, it's not great and they don't get along. Because, unbeknownst to Gabe, she knows who the vigilante is, she's in love with him and she's trying to hide that. But because Gabe is a pretty savvy guy, he figures out pretty quickly that she's hiding something, he just can't figure out what it is. So the question is: is he doing to figure it out, and if he does, when will he figure it out and what will he do about it? These will all be answered by the finale.

What episode were you just given?

It's the 19th episode. The network studio draft of the 19th episode. I'll tell you this. You're the only one who's getting this, because this was just handed to me - this is so cool! What happens on the last page is so cool, it's just going to floor you. For the 19th episode, so keep that in mind. I'm floored! Seriously. I'm floored. I just read it. It involves me. It involves Gabe and it involves Catherine. It's literally the last scene of the episode and then it fades. So, watch this space because it's gonna be cool.

We get so much emotion and feedback from the fans on TV Fanatic. It's amazing. It's such a fun show to cover.

That's great. We're aware of all of that. We know how passionate the fans are and we are so grateful. You know, I've been on shows where there has been a great, passionate fanbase, but it was also pre-Twitter and social media wasn't at the height it is now. Now, it's immediate. You know exactly what people are thinking. Like I said, I haven't met a Beastie yet, because I haven't aired; I've heard about them, but I haven't met them. They may want to punch me in the face after this first episode. (Laughs)

That's why I asked if you were prepared. I'm afraid that might be the reaction. Beauty and the Beast fans take everything that happens between Cathering and Vincent very personally.

Interesting but really a lot of words about nothing. Is he suppose to be romantically involved with Cat? I thought no. He must have been close to someone who was killed and wants justice. Cat can probably sympathize. What could be their past connection that she is not aware of when she meets him at the precinct? Law school, the bar,a one night stand, a previous case, the real Vincent Zalanski???lol I'll have to read through again. Does he know her? I have about 10 loose ends in my head about this series thus far but it seems that they decided late to change course with this show so his introduction or storyline is probably somewhat new or not planned from beginning obviously. I think we are going to be surprised by what we learn about Cat from the past. I suspect that she had to have a rough time after her mothers murder and a lot of things can be incorporated to that story but if the back 9 is suppose to be about the mythology it has to deal directly with the beast or the making of the beast and therefore her mother, possibly father and when she was younger somehow. Maybe some origins stuff. That would be cool. Maybe he was experimented on or better yet maybe he knew someone involved in this experiments too that was taken out. Oh boy I just hope that his introduction does not leave Vincat gathering dust on a shelf somewhere for the rest of the season. I'm still thinking Evan could be out of here soon as in "dead, dead"

I firmly believe that when he says "floored" that's not a bad thing... and I don't think anything will cause doubt about the epic VinCat love. There may be hurdles and trials, but not wandering love interests.

I agree. I'm not really worried about Vincat as far as the strength of their relationship. It seems that we'll still have some very emotional, lovey-dovey Vincat scenes and that their feelings for each other stay in tact. I'm more concerned with the personal well-being of the characters. Seems this new ADA will be ruthless most of the time. Also the word "floored" is probably in relation to how Gabe is connected to Catherine's past or him figuring out her secrets.

Great interview from Sendhil. He seems very excited about this role and I love that. I really do think he's gonna shake things up a lot....by all indications, the show is really going in another direction and I like that. We don't know about a season 2, so the writers need to do something to attract new viewers/keep current viewers invested so while I'm a bit concerned about how his character is going to change the show, I'm excited too. My fear is the stupid triangle business. They may not pursue that now, but I'm thinking it happens in the future which BUGS me. This connection that Gabe has with Catherine is something that will have them drawn to each other just like VinCat and even if it's not romantically just yet, I'm afraid that angle will be pursued somehow. Ok, I need to stop freaking out...happy VinCat thoughts.....*thinks of Vincent throwdown of Catherine on the bed*....

Like others have speculated, I think the "surprise" at the end of the episode has to do with Gabe and the reveal of his true intentions of why he is so invested in wanting to find the beast. Him being a beast himself would be very juicy/interesting...remember in an upcoming episode there is someone trying to frame the beast? Possible it could be Gabe...he goes beastmode and frames Vincent, lol. Obviously there is some connection there, and perhaps Gabe has a relative/friend who was attacked/killed by a beast or even by Vincent. Or...someone close to him was a beast too and was experimented on. Another thought was maybe it was his sister/friend who was the one who got hot and heavy with Vincent...but KK seemed to dismiss that during her twitter Q/A yesterday when someone asked if we would know about that that woman Vincent almost got intimate with...she replied "Not that I know of"...so that goes out the window for me. Too many juicy possibilities. His connection to Catherine is something I'm also curious about...I'm guessing it has to do with her mom somehow.

THR: We posted a scene of Gabe's first trip the precinct, and it's clear from his encounter with Catherine that he is going to have his hands full. How would you describe their dynamic?

Ramamurthy: The relationship between Catherine and Gabe, at first, is quite flirtatious but Gabe's flirtatious with everybody. It's one of his weapons in his arsenal that he uses to get what he wants. As the episodes go on, you'll see he has a lot more weapons in his arsenal. He's very crafty in trying to get what he wants. Their relationship is certainly adversarial; certainly right now they don't necessarily see eye to eye on a lot of things. Unbeknownst to Gabe, Catherine knows who the vigilante is. Gabe senses very quickly that something is up with Catherine; he doesn't know what and it becomes him trying to find out what's going on. There's a lot of tension there at first and as things are revealed, we'll see their pasts connected. Gabe has a connection to Catherine's past and that's a huge reveal for the show, and sends the show to the finale.

THR: Is he a love interest for Catherine?

Ramamurthy: There certainly is a connection there, but I don't know that it's going to go in the love interest direction. Maybe some time further down the line. Right now, they're at loggerheads. There's not a lot of romantic tension.

THR: Is there a scene that you recently shot that we should look out for?

Ramamurthy: Yeah, we just shot it on Friday (March 8). It was the hardest scene I've ever done, and it was the longest scene that I've ever done on television. It was a six-page scene, just between Gabe and Catherine. We shot the whole thing through, we didn't break it up. It's two people talking in a room, and you think, "Oh wow, how exciting is that?" But it's what comes out. A hundred pennies drop in that scene and so much information and backstory come out, and the way it's done is clever. That's probably my favorite scene that I've shot so far, and it'll be in episode 18.


Good news...he is not another love interest for Catherine...yet. Let's hope it stays that way...I'm tired of the third parties getting in the way and it's WAY too soon after the awful Alex arc. Now, I'm even more intrigued by his connection with Catherine..can't wait to see how that turns out!!!

I'm really looking forward to "meeting" Gabe...but as far as these interviews, Cat and Gabe have this flirtatious, intense thing going on. Evan part 2?

I know he said Gabe is more flirting than her, to get his way, but is Cat really going to flirt with a serious ILY/ILY lip-locking boyfriend waiting for her back at the warehouse?

I look forward to this playing out, b/c I think Gabe could bring a powerful dynamic to the show that Evan didn't bring. I think Evan is underused, honestly. And Alex was overrated and overused, IMHO. Maybe they'll get this guy right and not make him a new and improved "flirty" Evan.

So Gabe will have a connection to Cat's past. That can be anything or anyone in her past. It was never specified if it was directly with her. Weird that they do not know each other so there has to be a common denominator in their pasts like her mom or Muirfield or some incident.. KK said that it would propel Cat further on her mission which is to right the wrongs of her mom and to protect Vincent and or get justice. I want to know that even when there is a big reveal who will be in the know of all the connected dots. Will it just be the audience or 1 or more of the characters? Like does Cat realize Gabe's connection to her past but he doesn't or she never reveals it and keeps to herself. Or they both know. Where does the beast fit in? Could she end up keeping something from Vincent to protect him. So many possibilities. He will probably have some beast like powers AKA the new LEX. lol Like maybe he was made to eradicate the beast like a part of some beast out protocol. Oh so many possibilities. I think if it unfolds with 1 big reveal every episode or something like that that it is going to be hard to speculate. Again this really tells us nothing other than we may like him as a troublemaker. lol
