"We never lied to each other".
I found this strange. Look whose lying now.
Didn't Vincent lie to Catherine last season about Alex? That whole "Seeing Red" episode which I won't go into details. Very disturbing I know. And at the end of that episode, the bedroom window was closed on the relationship. So there is hope for them.
But right now, I am not feeling any excitement about the storyline and the episodes. I am just as disconnected as Vincent.
Last year I compared the show to the original and this year I am comparing season one to season two.
Sorry, but I can't help it.
The kisses, the dances, the window talks and roof top talks are just not as exciting as last season. And please.....I hope they don't go do another pool scene. Been there. Done that. They need to get more original when it comes to the Vincent and Catherine interactions.
Hello!! Ice skating at Rockfeller Center. Perhaps.

Everyone has mentioned so many things about this episode that I agree with and feel about. I only have one thing that just boggles my mind.............will someone PLEASE explain the whole Cat/Heather Apartment makeover? I mean it isn't just a lamp here or a pillow there, it is a whole monochromatic color scheme. AND.....Catherines bedroom is completely different, more feminine............WHY make such a dramatic change. Someone mentioned in a past episode thread (I tried to find who posted it, sorry) how last season, Catherine's Bedroom and Apt. had these warm, cozy tones and this year the bedroom and Apt are in cool, somewhat bleak tones? I guess I will have to ask the writers that question when I figure out TWITTER!! I don't know, sometimes things like that bug me and every time I see Cat's apt. it distracts me and I look at all the different pictures, accessories, furnishings. The refrigerator is the same. Then I think about Cat's Bed, it just doesn't seem like Cat's taste.........and I remember a spoiler BTS pic of Vincent and Cat sitting on her bed. I am not feeling a hot, sexy scene there for some reason. Of course, I welcome the chance to be proven wrong on this thought............. You are right. Catherine Apt. has been completely made over.
I was going to bring this up. At first I thought it was me and I was seeing a few things. But then I just realized in this last episode that everything is different. They should have said something. They tried to put everything just the same. The hallway is the same. But the furniture has all changed. I think the fridge used to be red last season. Now it's white or stainless steel. I like it. The kitchen is white. I think there is a lot of white and maybe lavender around. Seems like they don't want to show it to us in the daylight. And the lighting of the apt. tense to hide things.
The bedroom is completely new. I love the lamps that are all over the place.
It doesn't bug me so much. I just think they should have said something. It's so obvious.

~Milo Ice skating reminds me Alex arc... please... don't go there!!! pleeease! HA!
I was going to say, carriage ride in Central Park. But I remember there was a horse and carriage last season too. Though no one was riding in it down Central Park. I like those.
But my favorite, favorite thing to do in NYC (besides people watch) and I have mentioned this many, many times before is to sitting along the Brooklyn promenade and look over at the Manhattan skyline. Now that's very romantic.

~Milo IMHO, you can't actually count Alex's arc.
Everyone knows how I hate that arc so I'll try to contain myself in order to analyze it with fair eyes.
I think that arc was there only to shock the fans and call attention to the show. It was a good advertisement strategy, but I don't think it made us see that Vincent isn't perfect, as the producers said it was the intention, it only made us indignant with the disrespect he showed towards Cat.
If you think about it, you'll see that Vincent didn't lie to Cat about Alex. He omitted crucial information, which is as bad as the former, but it can't be qualified as a lie.Yes, it's outraging, but it's not a lie. What he did was lying to Alex about Cat, which was just coward. Ugh!
Okay, sorry, that was a momentary lapse. I promised I wouldn't do that.
In the end, Alex wasn't important and not being entirely honest with Cat about her wouldn't affect them if it had stopped there. Of course it didn't and we had to suffer through that, but that's not the point.
So, the way I see it, Vincent really never lied to Cat in what was important and what really matters. Him lying to her about remembering their love is important, that's why it hurt her so bad.
Yes, I agree with you that she was a bit hypocritical because she was lying, too, and I think that she could have done differently. But she was doing it with good intention and a pure heart which, to me, makes all the difference.
I hope I had explained the way I see the ep right. I tend to ramble when things make sense in my head, but are hard to put in words.
BTW, no ice skating! Ever! Ice skating should be banished from BatB for good! Too many bad memories there. I like the carriage thing someone mentioned better.

Yes I agree, he never really lied. when asked by cat who alex was he said they were childhood friends and then they became close. now, he did not elaborate further but lets face it, only cat would not get the message. if somebody told me they were childhood friends and then they were CLOSE i think i would get it!! so yes, he wasn't open to her about it, but he did NOT lie

Vincent Chandler said...
I didn't think Catherine was vengeful...well, maybe a little when she said something about using her heels to kick [answers] out of him. But basically I thought she was letting Vincent know that (at this point in time) she wasn't about him or them, she was about doing her job. That said, she was going to ask questions and push him for answers. She also had him at a distinct disadvantage in that they were in a crowded room--less chance of Vincent going animal, but if he did...she had backup. Smart on her part. I think Vincent even admired her. His facial expressions told me that he was very attracted to her, and not just physically, but intellectually.
But he did apologize to Catherine...and I think more than once.
I disagree. I don't think Vincent knows who he's working for, which leads me back to I want to know exactly what was done to him and for what purpose. And after he's fulfilled the elusive purpose, what is the FBI going to do with him? Not only that, is Reynolds acting with the FBI's authority or is he on some rogue mission?
Well, I have to say I'm with you on this point.

Yes, alas, VinCat is probably my favorite couple - but Alias on the whole as a show... well that is another comparison. BATB has Alias-like potential, which we are just now starting to live up to, I think... but couple wise, Vincent and Catherine, yes, yes and YES! They broke the mold. Anyway, it's funny to remember. Also, yes, Vartan and Garner, are two of the reasons I'm not a real life shipper anymore, because I actually think that little love affair was bad for the show... They recovered, but it was awkward for a while, and their chemistry was not the same. Anyway... clearly I'm off topic. LOL. I started an Alias thread under other TV shows for people like me, but it's lonely over there... But you are right, though, VinCat are on fire :-) We need a combusting icon to better describe the hotness... Where's that thread? I'm going right now there! I LOVED Alias and didn't have the chance of a forum like this in that period! I will be delighted to chat about it! And yesss... I agree, that romance made weird the 4th season for some time... Okay. We all saw Vincent shove Catherine across the roof, she fell down and she was shocked because Vincent had never touched her in a way she did not desire before. But...I noticed that the bruises Cat was trying to hide did not come from the shove that shook fandom, but rather from the beast pinch that knocked her out. My point is they are conflating the pinch and the shove to show "hurt and injury." Which in my opinion is pretty dishonest. And to add insult to injury, they're melding the pinch and shove and trying to equate that to domestic abuse and/or an abusive boyfriend. This is disgusting to me because it cheapens real physical violence in relationships and distorts what is really happening with Vincent and Catherine. Do better, writers and stop jerking my chain.

"We never lied to each other". I found this strange. Seriously. The whole [secrets] and lies thing smacked of Lana Lang in Smallville. Please don't go there. And if the people tied to this show don't know the difference between a lie and withholding information they need to invest in a good dictionary. The last scene with Catherine almost reminded me of a child having a tantrum. 'If you don't tell me EVERYTHING right now, you're a liar and I'm done with you." Really? REALLY???

Sorry, I didn't understand the Smallville reference. Maybe because I stopped watching the show at some point at 2nd season. But I wanted to understand it because it seems important to you.
I don't see it like that. I understand what you meant, but I think that what Cat meant was a little deeper than that.
I think at that point Cat had came to terms that the man in front of her is a total stranger. In a lot of moments during these first 3 eps I had the uncomfortable feeling that Beast 2.0 can care less to Beauty – that remains Beauty 1.0, BTW.
I think that was exactly what Cat finally understood, regardless if is true or not. And Vincent lying to her just proved that. He used her affection towards him to manipulate her, something that Beast 1.0 never did or would do.
I know that there's a lot to argue on that point and that isn't the most rational thing, but Cat is hurt and this time, not only emotionally, which is also a barrier that was broken.
I'm not saying that she was right or not. I still didn't come to terms with this ep and I really don't know what to think of it. I'm just saying that I understand what Beauty is going through and that this should be considerate.

My problem with the scene is that I didn't like the sexism implied on it, not the scene itself. But, since I'm a sole voice on that problem, I'll just shut up about it.
Yeah, that crappy apology on Boathouse Financed By Murderers didn't convince me. A single “I'm sorry”? Pllleasssssssee...
Maybe you're right and he doesn't know what's really happening. But he does know that he's eliminating his own kind, doesn't he?

Not important to me, but it took me out of the moment and made me remember a constant theme on that other show. Yeah, well, she'd have a leg to stand on if she hadn't gone to the boathouse on police business, but was perfectly fine with using her personal relationship if she got caught to do it. She had no intention of giving Vincent a second chance, but she lied to him and made him think she did. So, it's a little like the pot calling the kettle black and I stand by my original comment.
