IMO and don't shoot me here...I think they got a second season knowing that two seasons was all they were getting. .that way they satisfy the fans and give the show 22 episodes to tie loose ends and give us a happy ending. Yolie I think you're crediting network executives with a certain altruistic nature that is FOREIGN to them.

Reason why I say it is cause this is the PRez baby, he wanted BATB from the get go..Maybe he wants the fans to have everything squared off in season 2 and finish the series which he loves on a high note..Didn't he do that with Nikita?? He could have ended Nikita this season but he decided on giving it 6 episodes to end it properly. Yolie

I think the more seasons under a series' belt, the better its syndication chances are. An abbreviated season still gives Nikita a total of 5, which is the minimum for syndication I believe, not to mention it is supposed to be doing quite well overseas. Nikita has never been "all that and a bag of chips" in the ratings department even by the CW's standards. If BATB doesn't fall below this season's ratings and continues to do well overseas it has a good chance of being the new Nikita for the CW.

The PREZ loves the show though LOL I think his WIFE is a BEASTIE too! Yolie

They could tie it up in half a season surely. You don't think they expect the loyal fan base to follow it whatever day it is aired. Mondays seem a hard sell for whatever they show at least with BATB they have some kind of audience.

Yolie This makes sense. That's if they can pull off a WHOLE second season. "Moonlight" was cancelled after one season but they were able to pull off a happy ending. And by the way not only is there Monday Night Football which I will be watching - Hold Up. Fox TV is coming around the corner. Fox has "Sleepy Hollow" and "The Following" midseason. Oh boy, "Sleepy Hollow" could be a hit. If that show takes off...we are in deep trouble. ~Milo

I don't disagree that Monday is not the best night, but DWTS and MNF don't have season long runs and MNF's demographic isn't BATB's target audience anyway. The competition may not be any stiffer than it was on Thursday night; that said, I did prefer Thursday night for our show.

Yolie Yep...I think Yolie and EspinelaBeastLuvR may be right. The CW gives the Beasties a second season, ties up all loose ends in the storyline, and it's a wrap. So sad since BATB could really be good and would attract additional viewers if they put a little effort into it. Has anyone seen the previews for the new CW shows? Not too certain they are all that great. I always liked TVD, but must admit it feels worn out to me. I hear Arrow is good, but it just never seemed appealing.

To be honest I don't watch ANY of the other CW shows...I only toon in to TVD to keep track of whenBATB starts..Also since I record the show on my computer I have to set my program up and make sure it's working right...I don't like Arrow and HOD no way, I call it the 90210 of Nashville. Sorry for those that like these shows..I'm just stating why they don't appeal to ME Yolie

wow i know everyone`s entitled to their opinion but it`s weird after a not so good finale now some of you are saying "season 2 is doomed..the show is doomed" where`s the positivity or entusiasm?
I don`t believe CW intented to cancel the show where season 2 hasn`t even begin yet, They renewed it because it keeps making $$$ on the intenational sales and i read on twitter CBS just closed deal with Russian TV channel to air batb for multiple season( like the deal with UK channel, Watch). It also airing on Italy,Australia,Africa,Thailand,India,Brasil etc. Bottomline the show still makes money w cheap production cost that they share w Canadian production company.
I though the season finale wasn`t good but 'date night' was actually a good episode.Going by the title i thought it was gonna be boring but i ended up pretty satisfied with it.I don`t judge whether or not an episode is good based on how loving or how lovey dovey was Vincat in it( saturn returns, worth or any means possible weren`t my favs).
It has rooms to grow and i can see it having more than two seasons.

I never used the word *doomed* if the show is going to be doomed it's cause of lack of CW to promote the show which since the beginning it hasn't done any publicity for the show...Be honest, TVD, Arrow and Supernatural get all or most of the commercials and publicity..Stephen Amell has been on talk shows to promote..I think the show has lots of potential, I wish it would go for 10 seasons BUT if the CW doesn't do it's part and only depends on the fan base to do there job then I don't see the show getting any new followers and or viewers! The idea is to make the show more popular and introduce it to other people. What I am trying to say is..IF the show makes better then what they expect..I see it go for another season..BUT only if CW deals there cards correctly Yolie

All I am saying is that BATB will not acquire any more fans and ratings by moving to Monday night. And this is just me talking. I ain't no magician. Am just saying.......
I keep telling you guys that FOX has "Sleepy Hollow" coming this fall on Mondays. If this show takes off. Forget it.
And though Monday Night Football is not all season, who is going to come in to watch a show mid-season. Those football fans will turn to FOX "The Following" who this year started after football.
Another thing to look for is the premier date of these shows. If FOX starts "Sleepy Hollow" earlier to get folks hooked then that's another minus for BATB.

It has rooms to grow and i can see it having more than two seasons. Wow ... you took the words right out of my mouth!!! I read somewhere on Twitter that BATB has become a cash cow for the CW with their international sales. Also this will be the first time they will no longer be using just the traditional rating system but extending that to alternative downloads because what is what the younger demographic do! That is excellent news for us. The suggestion seems to be that the CW will give the Beasties an extra season to satisfy them. That really makes no sound business sense. The CW exist purely to make money and BATB does that in spades! My feeling is that the CW realize that they have tapped into something that is on the cusp of exploding! Someone asked Austin Basis, if they should be worried that their were so may changes with the writers and he replied, " Why worry, same deck, just shuffling the cards!" Jay Ryan, has hinted in so many interviews that they realize what works and what does not. IMHO I think they are going to improve the writers and promote the <edited> out of this Beast. Let's not forget that Jay Ryan's celebrity is on the rise .. people are starting to pick up that he is a force to be reckoned with. I heard at the CW up fronts, the crowd were going crazy for Jay and photographers were asking who he was. From what I saw, Jay was the " get" interview! Yes, Arrow has a built in audience and had a bigger budget so my guess is the lead was contractually obligated to so more press to promote the show before it even aired. I bet going forward both Jay and Kristin will be contractually obliged to do the same. Comic con is in July, there is no way that BATB is not going to be pulling out all the stops on this ... " Little Engine that could, and will!"

I'm going to stay on the optimistic side! I don't think the finale was all that bad. There were pretty good parts in it. About Cat going too far with her plans to go to a small town near Denver and start a new life with V: remember, in ep 21(pool scene) it was sort of suggested by Vincent first. Quote: 'I don't want to take things slowly... You're a cop, you could put us into witness protection...' Here they dropped the topic but I felt he was talking about this. I think with season 1 the writers/producers have learned their lesson. They know what mistakes they made and hopefully the're going to improve their performance. Let's trust the CW! They wouldn't order a full season unless they know it's a good investment. I think with new writers, new arcs and storylines and characters BatB will get better and better! OK I understand that the competition is really big (I mean Monday night tv shows or sport events) but season 1 wasn't easy, either! And we made it! Don't worry guys! There's no point in being negative, it's only May and the producers have a couple of months to prepare things well before the season starts. Now it's season 2 and they're going to be more focused on how to do things properly. And don't forget we are the Beasties! One of the post powerful fandoms!
