In Reunion, Vincent was still suffering from his memory being wiped, although things were starting to come back and he was falling for Catherine again. So that could explain some of it.
However I think it might be just be a Jay mannerism, I think he just likes keeping his hands in his pockets.
Changing topics, KK's hair looks longer in these pics. I find that interesting because during her Sept 10th S3 Finale Q&A twitter session, she said she liked it shorter and would be keeping it that way in S4. I personally like it longer, so I hope she lets it grow out a little more.

Jay spends a lot of time with his hands in pockets. On and off the show. Always has. It is what it is. Whether it irritates you or not is also a matter of perspective. I don't look for it or focus on it when I watch the show so it doesn't bother me but then again, I am guilty of quitting a tv show because I couldn't stand the way the actress would raise her right eyebrow everytime a dramatic scene came on. So I get it how certain "habits" can be annoying.

Let's hope it's that and not another case like the Reunion kiss where his hands remained firmly planted in his pockets. Actually I remember the entire Reunion episode as being particularly bad for the number of scenes Vincent spent with one or both of his hands in his pockets. ' pippin' you are absolutely right! I just rewatched Reunion and specifically looked for that and wow, even during the kiss in the end - and a very sweet kiss it was - he never bothers to take his hands out of his pockets. How weired is that? Also, when Vincent comes to Catherine's apartment after the attack and waits for her in her bedroom, he does not even come up to her and hug her while asking if she is alright? Instead, he keeps both hands in his pocket the whole time they are talking and it creates some kind of barrier IMO. He does it in their first scene together too when he comes into her bedroom hoping to get lucky again, but it's not just the scenes with Cat. I think the only times in that episode he had both hands out of his pockets was when he was fighting Zak. LOL Even when he was talking on the phone or holding the pool stick, he still kept one hand in his pocket. |

I watched Jay's reel and what recent video of his I could find when his casting for the show was first announced but there wasn't too much out there at the time and I recall he wasn't always clothed so I have no idea if it is a Jay thing or something he decided would be a Vincent thing. Either way I don't really think it is a problem unless it looks out of place in the context of the scene, like walking into a building with his hands in his pockets when he knows another beast is inside waiting to kill him or advancing towards a killer holding a bomb while keeping his hands in his pockets. But if it is a Jay habit, I think it's the director's responsibility to ask him or remind him to take his hands out of his pockets if it looks silly in a particular scene. I think it was Hal Prince who talked about being hesitant about asking Angela Lansbury to stop doing something with her hands or something when they were directing her and when they finally spoke to her about it, she was very appreciative because she knew it was a bad habit of hers. |

You may want to watch some of the PCA 2013 videos and footage to see just how much it is a Jay thing to do. And I most definitely agree that it's director's responsibility to recognize this but perhaps in Jay's case the focus is always elsewhere. I have to admit until you pointed me to that Reunion detail, his hands were the last thing that I was noticing in that particular moment or in that particular scene. Jay has a very strong acting presence that sometimes may overwhelm everything else, maybe the director simply doesn't mind or points out some other details that he may or may not like in the particular scene. I understand this is not the case for every viewer - I am amazed what fans often pay attention to or notice -it's very interesting. If we're talking about this scene, or better said a snapshot of them kissing where his hands are in pockets, I'll wait for the actual episode, we don't know the context of the scene and the body language may be corresponding with what is going on. The kiss may be off-guard, it may just be them reshooting an angle, or doing the blocking...so many options. The person who shot the video and took the pic said they shot the scene numerous times and there was more than just one kiss. |

Maybe if it is a reharsal they don't need to use all their body in that type of scene or maybe the camera is in close-up so his hands are not on focus... I'm with NotOnTv and will wait for the show to comment the scene. Yes Jay stays a lot of time with hands in his pocket but that was a behaviour that he started to have after 2012 interviews. Watching his previous interviews when he was in NZ or Australia, he used to move his hands while speaking, almost miming what he was saying. That's a thing that we used to do in Italy too, but in other culture it is absolutely considered a wrong behaviour |
