^ The show is 'Beauty and the Beast' - it's a love story. Period. Full stop. They fell hard for each other in season 1. I am of the personal opinion that they cannot REALLY break-up. I am expecting angst and obstacles not other love interests or a long break-up. To me other love interests compromise the love story, which is ultimately the heart of the show. I never saw anything between Catherine and Gabe beyond the initial locker room flirtation. It was all business from there. She was always pretty clear about where the line was with Evan and kept him at arm's length other than that one stolen kiss. Although it was clear she was attracted to Evan, she never compromised her character by putting Evan ahead of Vincent when it came to feelings and/or action. The same cannot be said for the Alex/Vincent story arc. They almost destroyed his character with that one, because he didn't really treat Catherine the way one should treat the woman he loves. Anyway, this is a love story about the Beauty and the Beast - not anyone else. I am of the opinion that obstacles can be internal struggles or external barriers, many many different things - time, distance, fear... whatever. They don't need other love interests or anything that looks or feels like a permanent break-up to keep it interesting. That is just my personal opinion though. I will not change my mind about what I think is important or interesting about the show. Sorry, but no. What I mean to say is that I think we can agree to disagree about certain viewpoints and/or perspectives. spydancer: You put my thoughts into print!! Thank You!! If I want to watch "musical beds" I'll watch soaps or other shows.
This "taking a break" & "new love interest" has been done on another formerly favourite show that I've pretty much lost interest in. As have a lot of other die-hard fans. Believe me, pulling the plug after 4 years isn't easy for me!
I'm not saying the Ratings will go down the toilet but maybe Beasties won't be quite as vocal & that won't do BatB any good. IF IT'S NOT BROKEN, DON'T FIX IT!!!!!!

If there are flashback scenes it doesn't have to be Alex...if it's about M Vincent wasn't with Alex when he was in listed in the M experiments...So she wouldn't be in it Totally agree with you. Vincent lost the contact with Alex since he joined the military. Maybe they will also address to the myster how he came back to NY from Afghanistan I hate to rain on your parade but Vincent was engaged to Alex when he joined the Army. Remember, JT told Catherine that he was at their engagement party @ "that ridiculously romantic cabin" & he gave Catherine instructions on how to get there. Also, remember that box of letters that Alex had in her closet? Catherine read one where Vincent writes that the guys in his platoon expect to be invited to their wedding. The Kleenex truck is on the way!!

I'm sure Gabe wanted Vincent for his body parts & had every intention of killing him for it! When Vincent's DNA surfaced he tracked it back to Catherine & latched on to her like a leach. It's the childhood stories & hardships that IMO were mostly crap to gain her sympathy & throw her off the true track.
JT is the very last person I would consider being the head of Muirfield! IMO if that was brought into play, the whole show would unravel & go down the toiletl! They would be destroying a much loved character who has a fan base & following that most shows & creators can only dream of! Beasties the world over would be sharpening pitchforks & lighting torches! Me included!!

When I heard him say that, I thought of ----Drumroll, Please---Gabe !!! It makes sense to me: 1. I never liked or trusted him & feel most of the stories he told Catherine were lies! [IMO, the Muirfield scenario in "Playing with Fire" was a set-up by Gabe.] 2. "Bio-Dad" Reynolds was after Gabe & got Vincent as a Bonus. 3. After "16 bullets in the chest" why else would they keep him alive "in some capacity" & bring him back?
IMO, "Bio-Dad Reynolds" isn't the Bad Guy, based on a lot of clues & my gut feeling about him!
