Since this thread is for discussing, here's my take.
IMO, this was a great episode! Extremely well written, edited & showed the true acting capabilities of Kristin & Jay!!!
Nothing was sugar coated. Just the ugly truth of the situation poor Vincent is in.
In spite of being Vincent 2.0, the sweet, gentle Vincent is still in there!
He tells Catherine that if she hadn't come looking for him, he would eventually have come looking for her.
He is drawn to her! He asks about their first date, their first kiss.
He actually initiates the kissing & the make out sessions [2X].
"To see if it triggers anything."
That whole scene was so "vintage Vincent" I'm smiling just thinking about it!
The scene that has everyone so upset did bring tears to my eyes!
It was a heartbreak & shocking!!
It starts with the usual note "ROOF". Catherine starts questioning.
I do wish she had the good sense to back off sometimes.
As he says, she's like a dog with a bone!
They argue, she keeps pushing, [about their past, "after everything we've been through"]
He snaps, " Guess what, I don't remember you. We had one night!"
Catherine: "That's not fair. I'm not just a some one night stand."
He beasts out, knocks her down & yells "I don't even know who you are!"
Instantly he changes back, seems shocked at what he'd done!
Catherine: "I don't remember you ever doing that!"
His voice is shaky with shock "I'm sorry", he runs away.
Last scene: Catherine goes into Gabe's office & says
" You were right. He is too dangerous."
[IMO, that was the shock talking!!]
Yes, I found this upsetting but see no need for condemning Vincent as a batterer!
Nor am I defending his behaviour.
But almost from the beginning of the scene, I could see the setup for disaster!
As he said, "I came here thinking we were going to hang out & I'm being interrogated".
We should really try to keep in mind that Vincent has been brainwashed & is not himself.
As a trained police officer, she should have known better than to keep pushing,
until he snapped! And it wasn't pretty!!
