Just saw the ratings for this week. It seems we are down to below 900,000 and still 0.2. They seem to be down across the board. At least if there is a reason for that its not all bad.

For 309 Prelim Ratings: 810,000 / 0.2 demo (unrounded 0.209) Half: 8:00 - 8:30 890,000 / 0.2 demo 8:30 - 9:00 724,000 / 0.2 demo Finals 786,000 / 0.2 demo (unrounded ) Low in viewers for this season, but 11 episodes of season 2 actually had fewer viewers with 205 (Reunion) having only 679,000 viewers and 207 (Guess Who's Coming to Dinner) not much better with 685,000. While a series low in viewership, 205 had a 0.3 demo (unrounded 0.27) The final unrounded for 309 has not been posted yet, but the prelim is a series low .209. This is the first time the rounded demo for the first half hour has been a 0.2 although the unrounded prelim for the first half hour have generally been in .2 but were being rounded up to .3 Next week looks like the show will be pre-empted in NY so that's not going to help matters. I was beginning to wonder if their episode order was going to be cut because of this long break after shooting only 4 1/2 episodes. Austin said that the break was due to the Pan Am Games and last week tweeted that they had 13 episodes for season 4, but the Games ended the first week of their hiatus and unless they are shooting more 7 day episodes this season, I don't see how they get in 13 unless they go past Nov. 17.

I really hope you're not right about this. We really need more viewers! Something might be up though. That's a shame our pretty couple does not attract the young viewers. When that Liam guy (don't remember the actors name) asked on twitter to get everybody watching, that somehow gave me some concerns of this kind too.

I think that the low Numbers was because of the debates in the USA television! And I do not think they will cut the 13 episodes order. I just hope that the producers will use this break to rethink the show and give us more passion between Vincat and sexiests looks !

The ratings are never going to improve for BATB, but it doesn't really matter. They're selling it with a different set of metrics.

Unrounded finals for 309 came in at .202
For 309 Prelim Ratings: 810,000 / 0.2 demo (unrounded 0.209)
Half: 8:00 - 8:30 890,000 / 0.2 demo 8:30 - 9:00 724,000 / 0.2 demo
Finals 786,000 / 0.2 demo (unrounded .202)
This week the show is pre-empted in NY which is the largest marked so our initial numbers might look a little better.
Live + 7 for 307 only rose by .1 bringing the demo from .2 to .3
115,000 people watched the July 30th episode of season 3 on its UK Channel Watch, making it the most viewed episode of season 3 over there.

Last Thursday was just one of those days in the US. If you were a Jon Stewart fan, then you knew it was the last Daily Show ever with him as host at 11 p.m. So for the WHOLE DAY, they did a marathon of Jon's best moments (which I sadly missed due to being in a C.L.E. for work). The Young Viewers that Nielsen most want in their demographic are supposedly the very ones that get their news from Jon.
Plus, you then had the whole Republican candidate debate. Which was BIG here, especially with Donald Trump and all his negative shock commentary. (My mother and sister, by the by, were quarrelling over what would be watched: Jon or the Donald. When asked for my input as to which of those two I would be watching, I naturally replied, "Are you KIDDING me? OF COURSE I am watching BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. You should KNOW this by now. It is the ONLY show I NEVER MISS!" Where did I go wrong in life if my own family does not remember that I watch BATB on Thursdays, at least for 13 weeks!)
So last Thursday was always doomed for us, at least as far as US viewing. (And again, so many Beasties had already gotten the episode through "other" means, once Canada had aired it.)
Plus, you have the rift in the fandom, which has spilled into the Twitterverse and beyond. I'm hoping that the grumblings don't mean that they are leaving the BATB universe period. But, none of them were Nielsen viewers to begin with. (Just a lot of power-voters for PC Awards and the like, BUT I will worry about that later.) So it depends on what people make of the stories making the media rounds regarding the "Beastie trouble."
I want to go with a quote my sister, who dabbles in politics, once gave me: "no press, even negative press, is ever truly a bad thing." To an extent, she is right. If people actually notice and write stories about troublesome quarrels in the fandom, then people that don't watch might want to know just WHY people seem to feel so strongly about a show. While I don't exactly relish a bunch of wannabe Haters looking for quarrels becoming BATB viewers to see what the stink is about, I would still welcome ANY vocal viewers at this point, especially if they had a Nielsen box! Again, even negative publicity can get people curious about the show. (All you have to do is see how well Donald Trump is doing in the polls to see that Hate Commentary is unfortunately scoring with people right now.)

Initial rating is inflated to 1.66 million....sighs if only they were truly our numbers:( I still don't understand how being preempted in certain markets inflates the numbers. They're not counting whatever program that took the place of BATB as part of the BATB numbers are they? Any idea what the actual numbers might be?

Yes, the preliminary numbers include whatever aired on the CW stations during the 8pm hour. Those will be removed for the final numbers. Unless we picked up some Nielsen viewers in the non-preempted markets, or there haven't been any Nielsen viewers in the pre-empted markets watching the last couple of episodes anyway, our final viewing numbers will be down. But since at least half of the TV markets have no Nielsen viewers watching the show anyway, we could have no effect or a sizable one if many of our 18-49 Nielsen viewers are in NY and/or Baltimore, Palm Beach???
