Hum, well if Showcase Canada does stick with this May date then we all have a new challenge. Once the show airs on SCW, we have to watch it on their website as often as possible to make sure they know people are watching it and try and get the numbers up. Challenge - watch BatB. Response - how is that a challenge? I'm already watching it over and over plus purchased it on iTunes and the DVDs too.

As much as I want to see the show, I actually hope Showcase Canada delays their start for season three for fear that people will jump to their website to watch the episodes once and ignore the "main" SCW.

I know that I will be the only person saying this (AND PLEASE READ WHY), but THANK goodness they moved the premiere date AWAY from May 21 at 8 p.m.!!!! This IS a good thing, if we want to keep the show on the air.
Here where I live, NBC has HEAVILY ADVERTISED the Red Nose Event on May 21 at 8 p.m. It is a night of comedy, song and every major tv/Hollywood person that they can get. It is a benefit for CHILDREN. All kinds of celebs have been in the commercials wearing their red noses. NBC has even gone into league with the major pharmacies to sell Red Noses for one dollar, with half of the money going for children in need. So every major pharmacy you go into in my area has the Red Noses right by the cash register, and the employees HAVE to plug it. And again, since it benefits children in need, you can't argue with that. (And since I have previously represented children in the foster care system, I KNOW how much we REALLY need these funds for programs to continue for children that have otherwise taken a hit and been eliminated from getting government funding due to the economy.)
And the Red Nose event would have DEFINITELY scored in the ratings, leaving our show premiering potentially at an all-time low.
I had been really worried for the last two weeks after they announced the Red Nose event that BATB would take a real hit with this, ESPECIALLY since Sweeps month is still such a big deal here. Not having to air in May REALLY takes the pressure off BATB--it can REALLY be a "summer show" now. That also means that BATB won't have to compete against the Blacklist or Bones, hopefully, meaning our chances go up even more.
So actually, this IS a good thing, in trying to keep our show on the air. (UNLESS Canada actually airs freaking one-fourth of Season 3 all before the US even gets to see an episode. . . . come on Showcase, cut us a break!)
Now, as for my SANITY, that is now well and truly gone. Hiatus Syndrome has taken what little of my mind was left!!! I am still beasting out at having to wait longer.

Not sure who TomShaw is, but the sites that I've checked (here's one: www.tvb.org/media/file/Nielsen_Local_Survey_Dates_2014-15.pdf) list May 20 as the end of the May Sweeps period this year, so that doesn't hold up as the reason for the shift since Beauty's rating would not be counted in the May Sweeps anyway. And even if the May Sweeps rating issue was valid, if the CW didn't want to air a show getting a 0.3 or 0.2 during May Sweeps, they would have to pull Reign (0.3 last 3 episodes), Cedric's Barber (0.2 and 0.3), Whose Line Is It (0.3 last 2 episodes) and The Mesengers which premiered with a 0.3 rating and its other 2 episodes have gotten 0.2. Beauty's renewal obviously wasn't' based on it US Nielsen ratings. At this point, it may actually be more important that its rating in Canada and elsewhere do better so that CBS Studios can continue to sell the show to the international markets. Because Beauty is co-produced in Canada, it qualifies as Canadian Content for the network that buys it and they pay more for it. Apparently networks in Canada are required by law to air a certain number of hours of programming that are deemed Canadian Content.

The red nose Event could be a really good point for moving BATB to June. Does this Event is in a big Part of the US or there where you live? I am not familiar with the TV in US but if the event is in a bigger Part of the US it would really make sense to move the show. Than I also would think is better to wait three more weeks and in the meantime I will rewatch both Seasons.

Again, I site the Red Nose Event as likely being the reason that the CW decided to delay the premiere, at least to move it away from May 21.
Whenever their is a big all-star event that is televised in the US, particularly with music and comedy and multiple celeb cameos, the networks choose NOT to air premieres or finales on those dates. Just wouldn't make good business sense.
And multiple Season Finales on THURSDAY nights got pushed forward this year, due to some things (like pregnancy of a main actress) that the networks had no control over. So BONES and the Blacklist are still airing their most highly-publicized episodes of the season. So sweeps is kind of creeping through the whole of May this year. That's the digital age for you--stuff gets rearranged due to people's availability. And BATB only benefits from not having to compete against already-established bigger shows on Thursday nights.
I want my show back desperately but not at the expense of a potentially REALLY low-rated premiere date that most certainly would have happened having to air against so much competition in its originally-scheduled time slot. The scheduling of the other shows was originally supposed to have aired earlier, so things being pushed forward seems to be nothing new for the networks this year. Just wrecks havoc for my viewing pleasure.
Now, does anyone have any idea of what Showcase plans to do? If they go ahead as scheduled, they will have aired several episodes before the premiere even hits the US.

The event is an outstanding cause and a major conflict for viewers. We are already fighting a tough battle for viewers and putting us up against mainstay shows with hardcore viewers is suicide. We do not want to validate the syndication suits claims that our BATB does not deserve any right to be considered in any viewing lineup. We need to try to reclaim our lost/wayward viewers and maintain those of us who are hanging in there.

If you google Red Nose Day or Red Nose Event, you will see it is a 3 hour telethon. Walgreens, M&M's candy and NBC Universal have ALL gone in together for the thing. It was called the "number one fundraising event" --I have no idea in what category or how that is determined. There is just A LOT of publicity for the thing in my local stores here in the Southern part of the US. The actors/actresses from "The Voice" have been heavily promoting it (my Mother LOVES that show, so the rest of my family is committed to watching the Red Nose Event for that reason alone. Sigh--never could get any of those traitors to watch BATB. Oh well, just because they are family doesn't mean they have taste!).
It almost would have been in bad taste to try to air anything major against this event.
Again, GLAD for the Children. Sorry for me and BATB fans everywhere. But at least now I can wear my Red Nose on May 21 guilt-free!
