Less than three weeks ago, on April 13th, the CW announced its summer schedule. Logically, the time to have announced Beauty's new premiere date would seem to have been then. Since the May 21st date was originally announced back in mid-February, it wouldn't have seemed so odd to have the CW change the date once they had all of their summer shows in place. But April14th, they go ahead and release the first promo for Beauty with the May 21st date. The following week, we hear about KK doing an interview already, and the second promo is released on the 21st. Promos start airing during their other shows, but then something happens. Was it Reign's string of 0.3 or TVD's series low 0.6 followed by today's 0.5 or did someone at the CW suddenly realize May 21st is a bad date for some reason?
Maybe the entire CW PR department goes on a two week vacation after the Upfronts on May 14, and someone at the network just realized that no staff would actually be around when Beauty premiered on May 21st.
May sweeps concludes May 20 this year, so while Beauty technically wouldn't have been premiering in the middle of May sweeps, it would have been competing for coverage with all of the other shows and their season finales and maybe the network was finding it hard to get any of the bigger entertainment sites or publications to write about the show.
Maybe the limited CW PR staff realized they couldn't properly promote upfronts, season finales, and a season premieres in a two week period
Maybe someone at the CW just looked at the calendar and realized that Beauty was premiering nearly 7 weeks before the rest of their summer lineup and it made more sense to promote a summer season where the shows debuted within 3 weeks of each other.
Maybe someone thought it would be better to premiere Beauty with the original iHeart Radio Summer Pool Party special featuring Kelly Clarkson and Chris Brown rather than with a repeat of Reign which no one would be watching.
Maybe Jay Ryan won't be around or refuses to do any publicity until he is officially back on company time May 29th or so
Maybe the network wants to devote more time to promoting the show or couldn't get their couple on any talk show in May when a bunch of stars are promoting their season finales or summer blockbuster movies.
Or maybe they just need three extra weeks to try and come up with a season description that doesn't sound like a rehash of the previous years

LOL YES MAYBE. BUT ALL THESE ARE BASED ON THE ASSUMPTION THAT THE CW ARE ACTUALLY KEEN TO PROMOTE THE SHOW...(LAUGHING OUT LOUD) Or maybe they just need three extra weeks to try and come up with a season description that doesn't sound like a rehash of the previous years THIS IS FUNNY CAUSE IT IS MOSTLY TRUE. I AM STILL CURIOUS AS TO WHAT THE SEASON 4 THEME WILL BE.

I agree with everyone's thoughts "How Lame of the CW." I hope they at least give us a real reason why the delay. Also does that mean that the release date of the season 2 on DVD is also now delayed? All I can do is shake and scratch my head to as why!!!

The best theory I've seen is that the CW decided to go back to starting their fall season in September rather then October (like they used to do 3 years ago). So by moving BATB back by 3 weeks they can have an uninterrupted run of original programming for a couple of months. The decision was probably only made very recently with the upfronts in like a fortnight.
June 11 would roughly mean a September 3 end date. Then another show (TVD unless they change timeslots) can take over immediately after. So they can probably get a good string of about 21 weeks of original programming in a row for the timeslot (13 weeks of BATB and 8~ weeks of TVD before it takes it's first mini break).
The way they had it before (May 21) would have meant a 3 week gap of reruns before TVD begins.

Expect the worse and hope for the best? Can't blame anyone for feeling pessimistic, the CW seems downright evil sometimes. But I've slept off my anger and I'm back to wanting to be optimistic again. What's done is done, 3 more weeks isn't that long in the bigger scheme of things. I really do hope there is some good that comes out of this. Here's my meager wish list: - Kristin & Jay at the CW Upfronts (I'll be happy if it's only Kristin, easy flight from Toronto to NY) - Showcase also postpones their premier date and better yet airs on the same night as the CW - Better ratings for S3 compared to S2, on par with CW's middle pack shows - More time for promotion and interviews now that the premier date is pushed out - Another new trailer or an extended trailer, and new promo pics - Time for more new fans to catch up via Netflix and the DVD release in the US - Last but not least, that S3 will not disappoint and be a great season! BTW, the CW is advertising the S2 DVD on the CWTV BATB website now. Replacing that out of place photo of JTV on what should have only been BATB content.

Yes, SCW. Wonderful moniker and suits them all the more these past two days. Do they think we are a play-thing, to bat about like a cat toy as they tease and torture us before the final end? (My apologies to all felines, yet I could not come up with another somewhat polite way to describe how SCW treats us.)

I have no idea about the reasons, having zero experience in US TV programing, so yes maybe that's a better date to avoid reruns during Fall or/and maybe like Anna said, they just don't care at all about rating and about what we beasties think and feel....and they had whatever reason to postpone and did it, just because they could. But I personally doubt this could have been done to let more time to promotion....I highly doubt it!
And God how I'd love an interview of our duo, I even dreamt of it two nights ago ;-(

I really like your list BeastieBoy and maybe something will happen. Now I've calme down but it is so bad delaying the show and many comments on CW are negative. I have no conclusion why we should wait till 11 June but I also have no experiences with TV business. So maybe CW has a really good point why they move batb to June and it will be much better for our show-who knows? I will focus on positiv aspects but I hope, that they will give all fans the reason for moving the show. It is how you treat fans but I doubt they will do this. The main point is we will have our show and that is the most important thing. So June 11 hury up!

All things considered, we are all true and devoted BATB fans! After the emotional roller coaster which was the path of the original series, I know I can deal with this sincerely devastating and disappointing treatment yet again from CW. An explanation was more than deserved if for no one else but the long-suffering and ever loyal Beasties! We can only hope the power behind CW will finally have a moment of mental clarity before making any more ill conceived and insultingly poorly timed decisions and or announcements!
