I just read that, such a shame. That person on twitter really should have used more tact. Frankly speaking, I've not been a fan of the wardrobe choices for Cat's character in S3 either. It's very conservative and old fashion looking, especially when you compare the styles to previous seasons. So the person did have a point regarding wardrobe, which I personally agree with, but she expressed it very poorly. Furthermore, to tag KK in the conversation and say she looks ugly was just flat out rude and wrong! I actually like Cat's wardrobe better this year than last year. I feel it's cute, very fashionable, practical (mostly) for a detective, and does fit the conservative style that both Cat and KK seem to prefer. I thought the looks last year were a tad more drab. However, you like other seasons better for wardrobe, and we can for sure agree to disagree, and, like you said, be respectful about it. Saying an actress looks ugly actually has little to do with CA anyway. That just goes straight to Kristin or Nicole and then we start getting into issues of needing our eyes checked and things like that. Anyway, yes, there is a respectful way to disagree, of course. I actually remember tweeting CA before during eps and being like, "Aw, I wish we could see Cat in such-and such" and things like that. Or, back when V was wearing the "uniform" haha - the Henley or whatever with that ONE coat, I was like, man, I want to see him in the variety of clothes he wore in season 1. Plus, while I'm on a rambling topic, Vincent is (or was) often put in muted colors and I think his brown hair and eyes can handle some more COLOR. Just IMO of course - I would never know how to dress these actors! Yes we can agree to disagree. Style and fashion is a truly subjective thing. But I must say I've seen KK wear very fun looking outfits during the summer. Dresses and tops that are strapless or more low cut, while still being very tasteful. Comparing her personal choices to S3, Cat is often in long sleeve stodgy looking conservative blouses and dresses that go up to close to her neck. In S1 she often wore styles that were generally younger looking to my eye. Now in S3 it's as if the character aged 10 years with some of the wardrobe choices. The style to me looks very different from the choices KK makes in real life.

Please if you are on twitter let her a message! Sent! Cant believe the audacity of some people. This only confirms my decision to never join Twitter. Catherine A is a wonderful person and does not deserve harsh criticism. Maybe some do not agree with the wardrobe choices for Catherine Chandler but that is not why I watch. When she has worn some stunning outfits it was a treat that I just appreciated and looked forward to.

This is one of the reasons why I never plan to have a Twitter account. And probably why Jay went silent on his for about a year. There are ways to go about expressing an opinion that can still show respect while still questioning choices. Does no one appreciate TACT or MANNERS anymore? Plus, do you REALLY think someone will be inclined to make changes when the form of the comments just makes you want to do anything to NOT please such a person?
Don't get me wrong, I have also not exactly felt the wardrobe choices for Cat in particular were great this season, BUT I understood that it must be VERY HARD to dress actors and actresses in delicate and form-fitting clothing when the reality is that they are filming in minus 10 degrees on some days! How many wardrobe choices are really going to be appropriate?
Plus, you don't want the wardrobe to take away from the performance. Simple solids in clothing choices means that you are paying attention to the scene and the character, rather than some loud outfit.
Still, the flipside to the argument is that the show is about the "Beauty" and seeing her at her most beautiful should be somewhat expected. However, most of the scenes this season have been Cat on a case, so there weren't too many scenes (at least, not yet) of her lounging around home. So professional attire was basically expected. And Catherine Ashton has only so much say, realistically, to clothing choices anyway. If a scene calls for professional or work-related, you aren't likely to be able to find a way to put someone in something that would look good on the catwalk!
I admit that I HAVE missed the type of scenes that were in previous seasons that gave Cat an excuse to "dress-up" such as "Operation: Fake Date." That episode really spoiled you as to WARDROBE choices, since Cat had to dress up for 1) the fake Date, 2) Vincent's press conference (and her hair was JUST PERFECT in that scene AS WELL AS the clothes!), and 3) Heather's bachlorette party. AGAIN though, you had REASONS for the dressing up.
This season is only 13 episodes. So you don't get the opportunity for filler eps like you had in previous seasons that gave Cat an excuse to dress up and be the true Beauty that she is. That said, KK still was BREATHTAKINGLY, heartbreakingly BEAUTIFUL when she was crying her eyes out in 306. When the script gives her a chance to be EMOTIVE, it simply doesn't matter what she wears. She could wear a Cardboard BOX, and she would still be beautiful.
Part of the issue has been some of the dialogue this season for KK (repetitive nature, having to get lots of words in quickly--again, understandable if you are in the middle of a crisis) and the fact that there has been far more action-packed scenes then previously. So the wardrobe is naturally affected. Because realistically, you can't kick butt in a taffeta gown and tiara (ALTHOUGH if anyone could find a way to do it, KK could!).

Please if you are on twitter let her a message! Thank you so much Chymere. I do not have a Twitter account (this is example why) but if there are Beasties who do please extend a hug and hand to Catherine A letting her know that SEO loves her and we appreciate all her hard work in dressing the entire BATB cast of actors. Need I say, Kristin is beautiful and looks great. Who of us always has on a killer outfit, we all have off days and maybe more than few! So does our butt kicking cop and creature fighting Catherine Chandler! Personally speaking for myself, I have things I wear that missed the mark on several occasions. Oops, Live and learn or just deal with it!

Catherine Ashton is sure getting a lot of LOVE now. I hope she knows that one person is not reflective of the whole fandom. I would hope after all this time and Feastie Fridays, she knows that many, many Beasties love and appreciate her. If she doesn't, then she does now and I hope it is enough to help her to reconsider.

This show is Beauty and the Beast. One of the things I look forward to are those dress up moments that just take your breath away. Like in the Pilot when Vincent watches Cat from a far at her dad's engagement party, Brides Maid Up, AMP Masquerade ball, About Last Night Masquerade ball, and even Rebecca's dress in Deja Vu. I want Beauty to look like the fairy tale every now and then. Just like I want the Beast to be a Beast, in full on beast mode. Yellow eyes alone and a growl don't do it for me. And of course I expect the ladies want the Beast in Prince Charming mode as well. We really have not had the Beauty and her Prince Charming yet in S3, at least not wardrobe wise.

Some comments who upset her HERE So sad! My guess is that it wasn't just the comments from today. Maybe she just got tired of tweets like these: This was her response to the last tweet In addition to weather considerations, what KK wants to wear, what she and the producers / director think her character should wear, if KK is going to have a fight scene, they have to find clothing that can accommodate padding or harnesses and masks the physical differences between her and her stunt double.

It is deeply troubling what seems to be going on in the fandom right now. I don't know where the problems are originating from or why so many people feel attacked. Though some, like Catherine Ashton, have reason to feel attacked.
I had lurked for awhile on this forum before comments in the original Everything Thread made me decide to join and begin posting because at that time, there seemed to be so much anger towards some of the characters on the show (this was Season 2 when Vincent had been shot), that I wanted to point out the rationale behind character's possible motives and just argue for why it was still enjoyable television. And differing opinions were welcomed. I had wanted to inject some positivity at the time. Some of my posts have also been rants, because at the Forum, you could say what you liked and what you disliked.
And I have LOVED when I could read posts with differing opinions. Some posters have even helped change my mind or given me new perspectives. And that was what I thought was the most powerful message of the forum--that ALL were welcome and could post opinions freely.
Now, I worry if I need a disclaimer before I post. I DON'T want ANYONE to feel attacked, either in opinion or CERTAINLY not as a person. I have always loved the differing opinions because THAT MEANS THERE ARE SO MANY LEVELS to these characters and to the episodes. Which means it is still powerful television, even if you don't always like what a character does or what appears on your screen. But the fact that we could always previously discuss it was TREASURED.
And even absolute negativity and controversy can actually HELP a show. Because people hear about it, wonder what the stink is all about, and sometimes then tune in for themselves. So even when I might try to be positive in approach, I still appreciate the other side of things and realize how that can help the FANDOM as a whole.
That said, I DON'T want to make anyone feel EVEN INADVERTENTLY that their thoughts, opinions, posts, rants or otherwise are in any way unwelcome by me. And the only way to do that right now, in the type of atmosphere that seems prevalent at the moment, is to just stay silent. Then, at least I am not contributing unknowingly to people's frustrations.
I had really looked forward to seeing the episode tonight FINALLY and being able to post about it. But with all the people leaving, especially since they feel unwelcome and seem to point to Episode Posts as a reason for feeling attacked, I don't want to risk loosing anyone else due to expressions of opinion by myself. It would certainly be NOT my intent to discourage others. But again, I DON'T want to risk offense to anyone. The only thing I truly hate at this time is the feeling that just posting one's own opinion as to character or episode could make someone feel attacked in any way. I have LOVED the discussions that lay out every possible issue so that I can see what I have missed and maybe re-evaluate.
With so many people leaving, it seems like differing opinions are causing anger, not discussion. I don't want to tread on toes. It would be very much UNINTENDED. But if I hurt someone, even accidentally, then I feel really bad and like I am doing a disservice to the fandom.
So I will just go into Silence Mode for now.
But please EVERYONE know, I have loved ALL the posts and opinions I have read since being here. I have LOVED discussing and breaking down every episode. I have loved the re-watches. Some of you feel like FAMILY to me, and I hate that the family seems to be hurting in anyway. I have rushed back up to the office late at night on MANY an occasion JUST to get to discuss BATB with this Forum. That will ALWAYS remain special to me. I just don't want any unintentional ill-will to my family of Beasties.
I will still be lurking, and hopefully be able to go back active when things seem better. Much LOVE to everyone. PLEASE let any rememberances of me and my posts be of LOVE FOR THIS SHOW and especially FOR THIS FANDOM and THIS FORUM. Just don't want to accidentally be part of the problem. So Silent for now and hope to come back, if wanted.

Very quickly because I am not sure I am legitimate to comment, what with not being a member here for long enough.
I am shocked by all those departures. I haven't followed the posts or replies that made our key members so sad that they decided to leave from here. And most important I don't understand why a few négative replies from a few people (not many I gather) would change It all. What's the problem with people disagreeing and discussing and exchanging? That's what a forum is for.
I don't get It. I love BATB. With whom Am I going to talk about It if everyone leaves one after the other :-( Even if I fully understand that some people could have been hurt, It's really too sad and that's such a waste! For the board, for you, for us, for BATB
