Can't BELIEVE that we have finished the Season 2 episode rewatches!
As always, thanks Jefferen and Susy for joining me! Was a real pleasure!! I always love both of your commentary.
So, are we starting Season 1 rewatches next week? What does everyone want to do?

Maybe it is my imagination but VinCat didn't look as happy as they should, particularly Vincent, I have always wondered if the actors were not a Little nostalgic thinking that this could be the last BATB scene forever. It must be difficult to say goodbye to a charácter that you have made grown giving a lot of yourself

Susy,
I think, in part, that Jay and KK chose to play this perfectly BY making it bittersweet. Just like KK did with getting her badge back--she was both happy in the moment to have been successful, yet sad due to the cost in lives and emotional turmoil. And you just get that feeling that she is now unsure just who all she and Vincent can really trust. I mean, Captain Ward just wanted SOMEONE to be in the slammer for what had happened and didn't seem to care much whether it was Gabe or Vincent. VinCat are finally free to be happy. And they are happy as they walk along with their faces towards the sun. The bench is their reflection period. And they HAD just had to kill someone made crazy by all the childhood experimentations etc. that had happened to him. And as a result, they have been informed that there are other "Gabes" out there as well, maybe even worse. And they will, of course, feel compelled to do their part to help humanity. So it is both freeing and troubling. So I like that KK and Jay sort of chose to make the moment both happy, sad and anxious. (That WAS just what Beasties were feeling at the time they were filming this because we DIDN'T yet know if the show would come back. Jay and KK DID most likely know the show was coming back due to CBS International having visited the set and other behind-the-scenes clues that only those involved directly with the show knew.)

Real life didn't allow for me to be here last night. But this episode is in my top 6 for season 2. I thought it was poetic justice the way they ended Gabe. She saved his life in season 1 and she ended it in season 2

VinCat 3.0
Hope real life wasn't too bad on you. I, too, loved that Cat was the one to actually end Gabe. VERY poetic, for multiple reasons, due to all that happened in Season 2. Everyone wanted her to be the one to end Gabe, understandably.
However, what I liked best was that she did NOT kill him in anger but in self-defense. And I liked that Gabe tried to kill her AS A HUMAN, while collared with the gem, so that his "beast" issues could not be blamed. Gabe made the decision to try to kill Cat all on his own and entirely for cold-blooded revenge because she had "collared" him. And although Cat does kill him, she was not necessarily trying to kill him but just to do enough to protect herself.
So I liked that they kept the whole moral ambiguity issue out of it, for once. The showrunners/writers actually listened to Beasties or at least saw that so many fans were completely uncomfortable with Vincent trying to kill Bob in the way that he did and injuring Catherine and her having to shoot Vincent. At least in Deja Vu, Cat is NOT to blame for taking the action that she has to take--it is literally thrust upon her. And Gabe clearly has nothing left within him to save. He really just needed to be put down like the rabid dog that he was by this time.

have not read most comments yet will go back and do this soon. I liked this episode though I did not love it. I did not love it possibly because there wasn't enough vincat drama. There was rebeccaa and Alistair drama but I didn't really care about them as I didn't know them So yeah that would have made the episode amazing. Make Gabe a but more formidable create some real danger for vincat. Let it be very dramatic as it is a season finale and as really it was filmed as a potential series finale. Having said that I still really liked it. I liked the exact scene recreation between the past and present. I know it was very ibvious but it worked really well. I also liked the whole sequence when cat puts Vincent in a cage and then through the past narration realises shevis wrong and goes back to save him. I liked the scene when v forgives cat . that was so cute and sexy. I like the theme as in they work together to overcome the issues. I liked the ending. It was a feel good ending which served well as a potential series finale. So yeah thumbs up generally but adding more passion and drama would really make it perfect.

Jefferen, I'm like you. WHY would JT want to discuss his relationship with Tess RIGHT THEN. I mean, they know Gabe is out of control and coming after people. It may be because JT was made to feel so little in the previous scene when Tess rebuked him and told him to go back to his "little lab," as if he was not as important as the rest of the team. Tess taking things out on JT in a bad moment triggered his feelings of inadequacy, at the worst possible time. I, too, love the Bob Reynolds and Cat moment in the jail. It is a real TURNING POINT in their relationship. For the first time, he is actually working WITH his daughter. I LOVE this. Puts Bob Reynolds' interactions with Cat during next Season in a totally new light. You believe, at least here, that he will be an ally for them FINALLY. (I guess the wedding will be a real testing point--either Bob has REALLY changed his tune or he has not.) Not to be a pain, but I notice that you mention things coming up in season 3 a lot in threads dealing with episodes that have aired. The problem with that is you're talking spoilers and I don't want to be spoiled. I purposely stay out of those threads so that the new season will be a surprise when and if we ever get it. Please be careful in these non-spoiler threads. Thank you!

Sorry, ArwenFan.
You are right. I didn't even think about it, due to my always hyper-obsessed Beastie brain that has to compare all seasons, including the one we haven't seen yet!
I promise to be better in the future and respect those of you who are WAY braver and more resilient than I am about avoiding the Spoilers page. So please ignore any Season 3 comments. I am probably wrong about them anyway, again, due to my hyper-active imagination! So hopefully, no harm done.

I was watching this episode and that scene where Alister was fighting with a beast, he is Liam right according to s3. Would have been nice if s3 also had a flashback episode from Liam point of view.
